So Pogba out of his cast for a few weeks, playing Basketball on his healing ankle that has lost loads of muscle due to him being in a cast for 6-7 weeks. Yet he is still at least 3 weeks away from playing again.

He "might play for us again in 2019", sounds like he is unavailable until the transfer window opens to me. I wonder why?

Is it because the club screwed up in the summer by not selling him, accepted that he’s toxic to the squad and that they play better without him?

Perhaps the club will learn that playing billy big balls in the transfer market and demanding a ridiculous fee for a player who has public stated his desire to leave is a bad strategy.

I wouldn't say Pogba is our best player, to do that you need to perform consistently. I would say he is our most talented player and the player who if playing to the best of his ability is one of the few who can put in world class performances.

Yet, if he doesn't want to be here, then he needs to go. No point keeping players who don't want to fight for the cause, or even be part of the cause.

We do need at least one midfielder in January though. Regardless of whether sick note stays or goes.

Could do with another striker as well in case Martial isn't able to stay fit for the rest of the season.

We should go back for Bruno Fernandes in January with a serious bid, able to play as a No.10 or No.8, would give us more creativity and goal threat from midfield. Should have got him in the summer, if we had I would expect us to have several more points now and much closer to top four.

Sadly I agree it's time for Pogba to leave however I don't think he'll be sold in January.

Hopefully he can return fit, healthy and motivated inspire us to another Europa league title, have a good Euro's so we can still command a reasonable fee and re-invest the money back into the squad. Wishful thinking but you never know!

DLIB, I think Pogba will be gone before the Euro's. January isn't the best time to sell a player, yet if that is the best time to sell then it best he goes.

We need to seriously ask will a uncommitted player help or hinder us in the run in. If he is waiting on his big move will he pull out of tackles he could get hurt in? will he be giving 100% when he has a transfer in the pipeline? Will he be saving himself for the up coming international tournament?

Had we sold Pogba in the summer and replaced him with Bruno Fernandes would the club be better or worse off now? I would say considering Pogba has been calling it in since the end of August that we would be better off with Fernandes.

I think we would be better off with Fernandes as well Shappy, clearly Pogba doesn't want to be here, i just hope we don't sell him to madrid and get Bale as part of the deal, Bale is done and dusted in my eyes we would be making the same mistakes we did with Sanchez, Di Maria and Falcao. We need evergetic, talented young players commited to the cause. I would try to convinced Liecester to sell Maddison or even try agin with Fernandes (which according to one of the eds we messed up the transfer with sporting) we are 2 talented midfielders away to have a good side in my opinion.

Fernandes was not a Pogba replacement. He was targeted independently of Pogba’s situation.

We still need to bring in an attacking mid, and a replacement for Pogba. And that’s the minimum we need for our midfield.

Remanutd, very few clubs will sell in January. There is little to no chance of getting Maddison away from Leicester this January. Sporting have financial problems and need to raise funds, therefore Bruno Fernandes might be available for a price.

I agree, I wouldn't touch bale with a barge poll, the guy is injured too often and commands obscene wages which would cause unrest in the dressing room.

If it was down to me I'd sign Fernandes and try for Moussa Dembele from Lyon in January. Both are players I'd chase in the summer if January deals weren't possible, which is something I think is important. Don't sign players in January who you wouldn't sign in the summer.

Then in the summer I'd target a DM, No.10 and a RW if possible.
Florentino Luis or Kalvin Phillips, Maddison or Houssem Aouar then Bergwijn or David Neres.

Danny, supposedly that's true. Yet they share many similarities. Both play best as a mezala or hybrid No.8/ 10. Both get goals from midfield, and create goalscoring chances for their teammates. Neither are great defensively, while both rely more on their intelligence rathe than physicality.

I would suggest the club would have pushed far harder for Fernandes had Pogba left in the summer.

Ed002 has said that Fernandes had nothing to do with Pogba. The club made a mess of the transfer by trying to bully Sporting into accepting a lower fee, and then pretended there was never any interest.

In addition to messing up on Fernandes the club also strung along SMS as a potential Pogba replacement, but their ridiculous valuation of Pogba meant that option disappeared too.

I would suggest trying to conflate two separate transfer mistakes isn’t particularly accurate.

Pogba will be sold if the right price is paid. Fine by me.

Madison would be a better player along with the youth in my opinion.

The money being reinvested in the squad and I will be happy.
