I think no matter what your expectations were from this summers transfers and pre-season, (whether you were expecting more or less) hopefully we cam all agree there has been clear progress.

On the transfer front we seem to be making signings that fit the club instead of just buying any shirt selling big name player (aside from maybe Dybala if it happens) . We have also signed a future club captain with real leadership potential (something we have been lacking in recent years) in Maguire.

We finally have a clear direction of the football we want to play but also learned that, unless every player is capable of pressing, the system doesn't work as well. For example we started with Mata and Matic (no legs, no press) and we weren't nearly as effective IMO. So still work to be done and signings to be made but we are heading in the right direction.

WE HAVE A DEFENCE! After years of Smalling Jones and make shift right backs we finally have a defence, that on paper, looks very solid and should last us for at least the next five years, meaning we can now focus on our weakest point our midfield. I am worried.

Sorry pressed post before I finished by accident.

I am worried that with our current midfield we will struggle to dominate possesion against the likes of Leicester or Wolves, who have better midfields then us, let alone City and Liverpool. I'm not saying we won't win or perform well in these games but we will be playing on the counter attack for more games then I personally would like this season and we are definately too reliant on Paul Pogba for creativity. But as i said, now we have a solid back 5 this can be the main focus in what's left of this window and the next two. Not all doom and gloom in midfield though, as McTominay has shown huge improvement and has leadership qualities that you would not expect in someone of his age.

Up front, we still need a right winger but i'm glad we didn't get Pepe because I think he would will be a flop in the Premier League and I'm still hoping for Sancho next year. I'm going to put my neck on the line and believe Rashford is going to get his first 20+ goals this season. From what I have seen in pre-season he seems far more composed and confident (please no more free kicks though) .

Overall, this is the most excited about our team I have been in years. We have our identity back. Bringing through home grown tallent and playing fast paced attacking football. Hard to predict where we finish this season but we have certainly improved and I think through luck more then judgement Ole and co are the right men for the job. I just hope the board give him time, if they do, we will have a United to be proud of.

Bring on the season, GGMU.

Hopefully another centre back will be coming in to partner Maguire also.
