Funny feeling well get Urgarte too?

I'm quietly confident we will, if not him then at least one other maybe even two midfielders.

Ugarte McT please.

I think could be a crazy few weeks until the windows shuts. Once MDL and NM are in and AWB leaves we will have a net spend of around £95 mill.

Hopefully we can find suitors for Lindelof, Hannibal, Sancho to raise £50 to £60 mill. Bonus if we can move McTominay and Casemiro but don't see those happening personally.

If we can raise that then hopefully cover a Ugarte type move, then if we can move one of Cas or McT, if not both, go for Rabiot too. I get I'm living in dreamland but what a window that would be!

Ugarte or dejong (i know completely different)? I think if we going to dominate (try to) the ball the dejong all day. Both be nice.

Don’t see why we’d let McT go unless he wants to leave to be a starter somewhere else.

Hannibal, Lindelof/ Maguire and Sancho all ahead of him to ship out for fees first.

I think we will be working on outgoings mostly now till window closes, sales or loans. Even if we add a cm, can't see us selling mc or cas. Pellistri, Hanibal, Eriksen and lindelof most likely sales.

Eric79, just tell me what McT brings to the team and the play of the team? Nothing, pure nothing. He is a midfielder and can't pass, can't defend, can't attack. Just some kind of weird energy which often leads him to a foul or he's just easily turned in 1vs1 situations leaving open spaces for the other team.

Ziko, utter tripe. he may not be sexy, he may not be exciting, but your description is ridiculous. He bleeds United, always gives 110% and has scored some very importent goals. I think he would be a great squad player but I understand if he leaves

Jeez, with fans like you.

7 goals in 32 appearances, often as a sub and often late winners. He brings grit, determination and great attitude, and immense pride for the shirt as one of our home grown.

Far more than a player like Sancho has ever shown.

Not once have I said he should be a starter, but he’s the epitome of the perfect squad player.

But he is bang average, in every other area. He played 32 minutes on Saturday, made 2 tackles and 2 passes. Collyer made 3 tackles and 13 out 14 successful passes. It’s time McT moved on, he has and never will be good enough to play for Utd.

People get carried away slating McTominay. He's really versatile, understands his role and follows the managers instructions.

Only a couple of months ago he started the FA Cup final.

I imagine he maintains an intensity in training which helps set a good example and raise standards. He has done plenty of tough post match interviews. A really good pro, and an academy product.

If he wants to leave to fulfill personal ambitions, I would wish him well; but I'm certainly not ushering him out the club.

As Eddie Howe recently pointed out, PSR rules may have good intentions, but they also make it beneficial for clubs to sell their homegrown talents - which can't be right and needs looking at.

Not slating anyone at all. From what I see above, the reasons why McT be at the club are - academy graduate, good professional, scored important goals (which are 2). None of you pointed anything about playing in midfield and doing things as a midfielder. City have Foden, Kovacic, Nunes, Bernardo, Rodri, KDB in midfield and we are trying to catch them with McT? AJH fans like me want United back on top, fans like you want United to play with McT, Hannibal, just because they give 110%. I'll give 200%, but that doesn't mean I'm good enough to play for United.

If you want to be challenging for titles then MCtominay should be nothing more than a squad player.

McTominay isn't a bad player, he's actually a pretty good player.

He's a hard working, dedicated professional. He has a great attitude and is a leader both on and off the pitch. He also has a knack of scoring important goals, which is a trait many of the best players don't have. Erling Haaland for example is probably one of the most prolific strikers in the world right now, but I think I'm right in saying he's never scored at Wembley, in a semi-final or final. That doesn't mean McTominay is a better player, but he has the mentality and ability to step up and make a difference when needed in those vital moments in big games.

He's versatile and capable of playing in multiple roles in midfield, as a CB or as a striker.

If you described the perfect squad player you'd be describing McTominay. I'd be more than happy to see him stick around next season and even beyond as an option off the bench. I think most fans would be.

He lacks the quality and specialism to play a specific role as a starter for a club challenging towards the top of the table.

Ultimately it comes down to what he wants, he'd be a starter at any mid-table upto Europa league level EPL club, and he's at an age where he probably wants to play regular football. While I can understand the draw of wanting to stay at United (his boyhood club) even as a squad player. He'd probably accept a lesser role at United that he just wouldn't accept elsewhere.

If he wants to leave then the club should try and find a solution. If he wants to stay, then we keep a good squad option.

Shappy, still not convinced he's even a squad player. Nothing comes from him, he's like Nicky Butt. If you need a player, just to replace someone in a cup game vs Coventry (:D I know), then Ok. But if you need him to replace an injured player, like Mainoo vs Lpool, City etc. Well, I don't trust him at all.

Butt was a really good player. To compare him to mctom tells me you don't know what your talking about. Totally different type of player.
Did butt not play instead of keane in 99 cl final.

12 Aug 2024 17:20:07
Ajh I'm sure rashford or Bruno would say 'jeez with fans like you' after the slating you give them. Or is that different?

18.) 12 Aug 2024
12 Aug 2024 21:56:56
So Butt starting instead of Keane is your reason? Butt (even Fred was better than him) was an average player in a good team, on the other hand McT is an average player in a not so good team. And I've seen worse players starting a CL finals, so that's not a very good evidence for your point. Saying "Butt was a really good player" proves that YOU don't know what you're talking about.

Ken is totally right. Butt was very good at doing his job, Scholes and Keane both rated him highly, as did Pele in the 2002 world Cup. He wasn't the sexiest player in the United midfield but he did his job.

Kante wasn't the sexiest player but without him Leicester and Chelsea don't win the league and France don't win the world Cup.

The Messi Xavi Iniesta Barcelona team don't win anything like they did tmwithiut Busquets.

Clicked send too early. I thinkbits you who hasn't got a clue here, not Ken. Butt did all the hard, non glory nob sext stuff very well and you don't win anything without having a number of them.

Butt played within himself to do his job because that's what the team needed. Buttbplaying alongside Mainoo right now would make a massive difference to this team.

Ziko were you born in 87? That might explain why you have no clue how good butt was.
A very good player with Multiple titles intl caps and a very good career.
Played a role nothing similar to mctom.
