Hi ed002

is there any substance to our interest in Matheus nunes from sporting.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United saw him a financial more viable Matic replacement than other options but it would not be an attractive move for the player. He will move elsewhere.}

Even wolves is a more attractive proposition than our club at the moment. Jesus, how the mighty have fallen.

Angel, I think that depends on the player and their situation.

United are not performing at the highest level challenging for top honours. We are a Europa League level team.

A player like Nunes looks like he has potential to play at the highest level. Pep has spoken about him in glowing terms and he is one of the midfielders Liverpool are keeping an eye on.

Moving to Wolves would be a very sensible move at this point in his career. He will get to play at a higher level domestically and prove himself in the most watched league in the world. Wolves have show they are a good club for young Portuguese players to move to. Neves, Jota and Neto all flourishing there and all have or will likely get moves to bigger clubs. Wolves know there position and won't be difficult or block the way if/ when Nunes looks to step up to a top club.

United of the other hand are playing poorly, heading in a downward direction and haven't successfully developed any young players in many years. They also have a habit of being difficult in allowing players to leave. United certainly wouldn't allow a player like Nunes to move to either City or Liverpool if he was personally successful at United.

United would likely offer a 5 year deal with a one year option. With Nunes being 23 that means United could refuse to sell him and he'd be here until he's 29.

The way the club have acted with certain players and their refusal to enable transfers out of the club will likely come back to bite the club in the arse. With players less keen to join a club.

I suppose it depends on what career path Nunes wants to take, and what options are available to him. Maybe if United threw their hat into the ring he would come to United. However, I can understand why some players would be less keen to tie themselves to our club in its current state.

I think it's mainly down to our situation shappy.
