Ornstein just posted that Erickson verbally agreed 3 year contract with United.

Interesting move, excited as to what ETH has planned for him. Make up of our midfield could be fun as where do they all fit.

Quality, the more proper CMs the better, ball players. It will alleviate the stress on a poor back line.

Ball retention is key, and having the ability to make key passes in moments. Eriksen, De Jong, Fernandes, quality line up there. Very happy.

Erikson will be an excellent addition to the midfield, skilfull player with a good work ethic who will fit nicely with EtH style.
Midfield over the past couple of years has been seen as a weakness but if we end up landing at least De Jong as well we will then have a strong core with Fred/ McTominy as rotational pieces and first team for certain games.
If we then also bring in a DM this would really top it off but for year 1 would be happy with what we have got.

Very good player, very good signing. Premier League proven, experienced while not being over the hill and is another creative player being added to a squad who struggle to create chances.

His biggest impact might be set piece delivery though. We have been pretty poor for a long time in getting goals from set pieces so having a player with Eriksen's delivery is an excellent thing.

Think Bruno and Erikson would be interchangeable in front 3 or maybe Erikson might even drop back to centre midfield to play alongside Fred/ De Jong.

If FDJ does join, be a really exciting passing line-up, particularly with Malacia at left back and Martinez at centre back/ DM (probably the best passer of the lot)

Eriksen! He’s not a phone ??‍♂️

Good signing, very likeable player, just over a year ago we watched him have the worst moment, so happy for him to get back and be playing for us.

More to come hopefully.

Fred won't be in the team very often Wallace. We have a proper manager now.

Eriksen is also an excellent free kick taker, and very much a threat to score from around the edge of the penalty area. I think we will see him rather than Bruno or Ronaldo, if he stays, given the bulk of the responsibility.

Agreed Ken, I think he is going to play one of the CMS as a deep lying midfielder a la Kroos, modric etc rather than a breaker of play.

A lot more focus on ball retention and possession, which means less Fred, hopefully.

It should also suit DVB more too.

Clever signing imo.
He can pick locks in tight games better than any other player we have and always looks to find 'that pass'.

Additionally, he would alleviate the burden on Fernandes as primary creative outlet, thus reducing the risk of burnout.

On a free with reasonable salary, whether as a starter or a squad name, very good signing.

Best signing we’ll make this summer.
Eriksen will play in the midfield three, with Bruno playing either wide right or as a false 9 now, in my opinion.

Playing Eriksen, Frenkie de Jong and Bruno Fernandez in midfield would be a disaster. Who’s doing the work defensively? Literally out the imbalanced frying pan into the imbalanced fire. FdJ isn’t a DCM, Eriksen and Fernandez are more attacking midfielders. We would be so weak defensively it’s ridiculous.

Just want Donny wanted, someone who will probably start ahead of him.

Rewz, it won’t happen - Bruno Fernandes will play as part of the front three, particularly as ETH wouldn’t tolerate him giving the ball away any deeper.

Rewz,

There are a number of games when we should have so much of the ball that you could get away with it, but you could say De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Foden can’t play in the same midfield so why have city got all 3. It’s a squad game, so having players if high quality that can play in different games is where we need to be at if we have any chance of being anywhere near city. It really makes me laugh when people say ‘this will be the United 11 next season’ like the same team plays every game.
