Hi Ed002,
With Eric Bailly's contract expiring next year, what are United's plan for him?
And are there any interest in Phil Jones?

{Ed002's Note - The club still want Bailey to stay but he will look for other options this summer. Jones would need to drop down a division to find interest.}

I find it sad that Jones would need to drop down a division, when fit I think he is comfortably a mid table EPL player. I do wonder where his career will take him next, he is on massive wages, even more so for a Championship club.

I guess with Jones where will always be a feeling of what might have been had he not picked up so many injuries.

{Ed002's Note - He should stay at Manchester United then.}

Boy did SFA get that one wrong. At the time Jones was playing as CDM for Blackburn and was seen as a future Man Utd and England captain. What went wrong?
Not the first time SFA was wrong either. Bebe, potentially the greatest player on earth. Unless you subscribe to the notion that every player is potentially the best player on earth, at some point.

Ed002, at 29 with another 2 years left n his deal I do wonder what is in it for him if he were to move away.

He'd almost certainly be on lower wages, would probably be injured and unable to play just as often, and like you suggest probably at a team in a lower division.

Hardly inspiring reasons to quit United.

Might as well sit tight take his wages and leave on a free in 2023, unless the amateurs activate the one year extension clause then he'd get an extra years wages for nothing more than keeping the physio busy.

{Ed002's Note - Players are not all mercenaries. Most want to play as much as they can and the likes of Middlesboro or Derby might offer a good solution.}

No matter where he goes he can't stay fit. May as well stay, get his wages and play in the carabao cup.

Inter Miami with Ryan Shawcross.

In an ideal world Bailley would stay but if we are looking to bring in an additional CB then I think we should sell and generate some revenue. When he plays he offers that additional piece that Maguire lacks, however it appears that OGS does not have enough faith in him so it would be a waste to keep him.
A return to Spain could be a good move for him.
On Jones, another that appears to have had a career ruined by injuries. He never really kicked on from those first few seasons but showed bursts of what he could do (even in the HM role) . If he can get clear of injury a loan season to the championship would be the best considering no one would buy him or likely even loan him in the PL. Should he be able to show he can last a season and perfom we may be in a position like with Lingard where the asset is greater after the loan and could get a buyer then. If not then maybe buy out his contract and free up a space on the books.

Bailly needs to leave. Never fit and never going to be good enough as he can’t string 5 games together.

Give Tuanzebe a bigger role and replace Jones and Bailly.

Tuanzebe has not been fit for 3 years either.

{Ed077's Note - he has been an ever-present in the matchday squads this season. He has missed only 6 games due to injury and on 5 occasions not been part of the squad (whilst still fit). But I dont trust his ability to stay fit playing twice a week.}
