As Garner has progressed well with forest this season i was wondering if there is any interest in him going out on loan for next season or a plan in place going forward? Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - James Garner (DM) It has been made clear to Manchester United that the player now wants to be in consideration for first team football and there is an acceptance that even with Matic coming to the end of his career they will look to throwing money at a replacement rather than giving him the chance to prove himself. This has opened the door to Nottingham Forest to consider him as an option - but they will know that interest from lowere end PL clubs like Brighton will be joined by those looking to achieve promotion and build a side that can challenge in the Premier League - this will include the likes of Reading and Norwich.}

Any names United have in mind for the Matic replacement this summer? I know you have said Laimer before.

{Ed002's Note - THey are likely not looking to replace him this summer - they gave him a nice new long contract last summer.}

Garner looks a really tidy player.

2 year loan to Brighton as a sweetner for Bissouma?

Hi Ed002,

Sorry if I’m reading too much into your explanation, but, as it seems that you are suggesting that Garner wants to be part of the first team squad next season (with a view to potentially breaking into the first team if the chance arises) there won’t be space in the squad because of Matic and his long contract, then does this mean that United will look to throw money at a Matic replacement only towards the end of Matic’s contract, so they won’t be looking for a DM this Summer?

And also (sorry! ) is Garner still in United’s long term plans and thus likely to be loaned out again to, say, Brighton, or are they likely to just sell him with a view to throwing money at another DM?

Thanks for any reply, sorry to bother you or to be stupid in not understanding your initial info.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of MU looking at a DM as a priority this summer. They will deal with the priorities first and then after that other changes. I don’t think the club see JG as a replacement for Matic - at least at this point in time.}

ED002,

Does anything actually surprise you anymore as far as the club are concerned?

It feels like a ship that is slowly sinking.

{Ed002's Note - Not really.}

Thank you for taking the time to reply so quickly, Ed002, much appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Thanks for the reply 002.
Seems a shame to not even give him the oportunity to prove himself as he looks like he could make a good player. Atleast were not going to waste his early career and let him move though.
One we could possibly regret!

{Ed002's Note - It is a problem many clubs have - many youngsters look to move on through the lack of opportunity.}

It's a sad state of affairs. More of McFred in midfield rather than an academy graduate who knows how to pass a ball.

Wow - what an insight.
Ed002, what are the priority positions for the club this Summer?

Hope everyone remains safe and well.

{Ed002's Note - It is as I have explained before. Before next season starts: G (second or third choice - perhaps both depending on who leaves), RB (back up to AW-B), CB, S - it will be determined whether to push for a RW.}

I really like Garner and think he has a big future ahead of him. I think he has the ability to be a long term option for us in midfield.

However, he has had a very good dozen games in the lower reaches of the Championship. Personally I think he needs to play every week next season to continue developing, and I don't think he would do that if he stays with us. Therefore another loan next season seems the best option.

Then he could come back at the start of the 2022/ 23 season to replace Matic ready to fight for his place.

personally think a striker is becoming more urgent than before- cavani although a former worldie, get rid: may only be the media but his fathers alleged comments, and the fact that he has been fit to play but stated he wasnt is a poor show imo.
Add to the mix that martial is martial we are extremely lightweight up front. Haarland would be a fortune, unproven in the epl and 100+m could be a costly mistake if one mistimed tackle or injury away from leaving us in the same predicament with best part of the transfer budget gone.

Agree on Garner. He’s had a handful of good games. Needs another loan in the Premier League next season. If he impresses then he replaced Matic season after next.
