ED002,

Are Juventus interested in Paul Pogba. I've sent the Mino said they were a possibility?

Which if any, are the viable options for Pogba?

My feeling is that the amateurs will keep him until his contract expires.

{Ed002's Note - Paul Pogba (CM) offered to Barcelona - may be available as a Free Agent in 2022 - Manchester United have wrecked the relationship with his agent. I doubt that the club would meet any demands which Mino Raiola would want to agree a new contract. They have extended his contract to 2022 and will need to strike a deal with Mino over any sale next summer (I am sure he would be open to taking, say, half of the sale fee) and hope a buyer can be found - this will need to be through a third party. PSG are in discussions to add two MF players, one possibly as early as January. I don't think paying a significant fee for Pogba is part of their plans right now. Real Madrid have a preferred target although their current coach would like Pogba. Juventus have other priorities in CM but there have been talks and he might be a realistic option at the right price - but Juventus may look to including a player in the deal.}

Sack him and a weight will be lifted from the club. Never do business with Mino again.

what does anyone think would be a reasonable price to let him leave for?

we are obviously going to take a loss but united will no doubt like to save face a 2nd time around and not lose him for free.

£40m and run.

Bolger. If it were me I’d run his contract down and let him walk for nothing in 2022. If it’s true that we could lose half of any fee to him and his agent we’re probably looking at somewhere between 15 and 30 million, which considering what we’ve wasted over the past few seasons is a drop in the ocean.

Even playing badly he’s worth far more than that in terms of brand appeal and I’d take some sick satisfaction from knowing that we forced him to waste his prime years playing at a club that he really didn’t want to be at.

It would be a little different had he put in the work since arriving and not repeatedly embarrassed himself and the club with his (and his agent’s) public comments regarding his future. As things stand though, the club owes him nothing, because that’s exactly what he has offered since signing for us.

club should have just sold him 2 years ago when he first wanted to leave.

he will be what 29/ 30 by the time his contract runs down.

Hi Ed - any chance of him leaving in January? can't wait to see the back of this circus.

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement at this time.}

We have created this situation ourselves, refusing to sell an unhappy player. At this point the financial situation can't be saved, our options are sell him at a reduced price and lose potentially half the fee to Mino and Pogba or force him to run down his contract, meaning we get nothing and have to pay Pogba the best part of 300k a week to do so (around £20m between now and the end of his contract) . Either way we will stand to lose a substantial amount on the over inflated 89m we paid for him.

What we can save is our appearance to other players, refusing to allow an unhappy player to leave will not encourage other players to sign for us. Players will have different drivers when looking at who they move to, just as we would when considering job offers. For footballers things like wages, ability to challenge at the top, location etc are all things they will consider. Just like we would consider wages, ability to progress our careers and location ourselves.

We would also ask other ex-employees or people we knew with experience of that company about their experiences with them. Some companies are known to be a bad company to work for.

In refusing Pogba his move and making life difficult for him we will further alienate potential footballers from wanting to join our club. While as fans we might see playing for United as the highest honour, not all footballers will. They see a job for the most part. We have already seen how when Chelsea matched our wages many players preferred to move to London. While currently we aren't as successful as we once were. We are in danger of making life even harder for us to compete for the best players.

For me its time to stop being silly, to put the egos away and make Pogba's exit front he club as clean and as easy as possible. We aren't going to get our money back, we aren't going to save face and he isn't going to be a key member of our squad moving forward. It's in everyone's best interests to end this failed marriage as soon and as amicably as possible.

Pressed reply to early.

Thanks ED002.

Shappy I agree with your post. He should have been sold a while back when he first said I want to go.

As for playing him tonight, i'd drop him. Although he might try harder to make a January move materialise, however unlikely that may be.

Hahahaha SHAME! Lol only joking, surprised Pogba is doing this. We have Özil so we are no better. Hope you lose tonight though :)

Thanks for the update Ed. On the point that Juve would want to include a player in a deal, do you know which players they have available / would likely offer? Personally I'd like us to ask for Bentancur but I reckon that's not happening.

{Ed002's Note - Paulo Dybala would be the obvious choice.}

Isnt Dybala another AM like Bruno/ VdB. It would be silly for us to buy him.

{Ed047's Note - isn’t that United’s thing, to buy random players you don’t need

Mino maybe in the eyes of fans a little s*** rhymes with hit.

But in a way I am glad he's showing us up. Ed 02 has been saying forever how the amateurs are running the club and this highlights exactly that. Mino is not the disease, the club is. Even though most of you wouldn't dream of admitting it.

I'm totally split on Dybala if I'm honest.
Firstly, clearly there is a player there, but he doesn't show it often enough. Plus he has displayed a few odd views/ behaviours in the past.
Secondly I wonder how he would fit into our side. He isn't a lead the line striker, more of a hybrid second striker/ No.10. To that end he would fit best in the position that Bruno plays in, which isn't ideal. However, if we were to play a 442 diamond or 3412 type shape then he could play on the right of the front two very well. Which would still allow Bruno in his No.10 position.

So do we take a player who is talented, but might not want to join and doesn't really fill a need we have?

Personally if we are to sign a player from Juventus the two I would consider best for us would be Merih Demiral or Dejan Kulusevski, neither of which I think Juventus would consider selling.

Ed047,

Unfortunately it's all about the commercial revenue a player brings in. Or trying to blakc cat other teams. We got badly burnt with Sanchez. Utd are like the kid that never learns.

{Ed047's Note - it’s been crazy mate, maybe the current financial climate will force the club into a more sensible approach to it all and you’ll start to see the benefits.

I know Ed047 and I don't know when all of this will stop! . Its getting to a point I might stop watching football until things change.

{Ed047's Note - can’t argue with that Singh, but as I’ve said to MH maybe the situation now will bring a semblance of calm amongst all this crazy stuff. 🤞

In fairness FZZ we all know United are poorly run. But it’s a disgrace the timing and what’s worse is the 100% pogba has allowed it to be released at this stage. That’s my only issue. I don’t want him near the squad again.

Ed02 do you know if it would be viable in Jan or the summer for Juve to include Ronaldo in a swap deal? Seems like a perfect solution.

{Ed002's Note - Any such move would be a retrograde step for Manchester United who should be looking to the next Ronaldo not the last one. Manchester United are stuck in the loop of not addressing the future sadly.}

20.) 08 Dec 2020

Thanks for your reply Ed, although I agree with your statement i very much doubt that united have it in them to find the next ronaldo sadly.

ED047,

I live in hope. Although if OGS got the sack would they be able to afford to sack him and the backroom staff. Generally speaking a new manager likes to bring his preferred staff with him.

{Ed047's Note - I don’t think clubs ever seem too concerned about replacing managers and back room staff MH, the amount of times they do it.

Ole is for me clearly not the man but at the same time he isn’t taking you to oblivion so for me the club need to, if they haven’t already, be taking the opportunity to find the right guy whilst Ole’s still in post.

We all know there are quality managers out there and you have a good base of talent in the squad.

Get rid of Pogba, get Saul and Upamecano and you start to really look the part. Maybe even nick Gnabry from Munich and you’d be good to go.

Ed047,

Those two would be great signings. Not sure Gnabry would leave BM to join Utd.

{Ed047's Note - they would mate and not sure either on Gnabry but think he’s better than Sancho.

ED047,

I'm not sanchos biggest fan. His attitude sint great either. Utd need to focus on hard working players who will take them to the next level.

{Ed047's Note - agree totally mate and with Gnabry, Saul and Upamecano you get all that and more.

ED047,

Time will tell. UTD remind me of Arsenal under Wingerworth in his final few seasons. Hit and miss, persisting with zonal marking.

{Ed047's Note - it sure will mate but that’s not a great sign!
