Telegraph reporting United have enquired about Ismaila Sarr. Don't know how reliable they are.

I think he would be a useful addition. Very pacey and works hard off the ball if match of the day highlights are anything to go by lol. Far more cost effective than Sancho.

I’d take him. fits the profile of the type of player we are trying to bring in. Wait and see I guess.

Harry, he may be more cost effective but does he have the same quality? He’s not a player I’ve watched a great deal off. Anytime I have I’ve always thought he’s a bit raw still.

Not saying sarr would be a bad player but as he will be a reasonable price and no one is going for him makes me think is he the right choice. I know teams aren't going for sancho either but that's got more to do with financial difficulties of clubs not due to no interest.

Sancho is twice the player sar is. if we wabt to close the gap we need to sign quailty players that will improve the team.

Sar is not that player.

Bolger we also need to improve the squad.

The question is, whose place does Sancho take? It’s Greenwood who loses out. Are we prepared to see Greenwood lose his place? I know I’m not. He’s our best finisher and in a couple of years will probably be our best player.

There are more concerning positions to fill; CB, LB, DM. Add to that, the quality of our bench.

Sarr can offer something different off the bench without taking Greenwood’s place.

Our most attacking player on the bench against Brighton was Lingard. That is far from good enough.

I don’t see any urgency to sign Sancho given how much we need improvement at the back.

Wazza

At Brighton we had our only attackers in the squad, actually on the pitch. Ighalo isn’t good enough. We don’t have another option, when Ighalo goes back in January, then what? We are short of a CF for me, there is no plan B. Wouldn't surprise me to see Josh King arrive in desperation on deadline day.

Might be best to ask ED001 what he thinks about Sarr?

{Ed001's Note - very raw and inconsistent, but has the power, pace and skill to destroy any defender on his day. Still young and learning so needs guidance and coaching to bring out the best in him.}

Greenwood is a good player and is basically covering the rw but its not his position and giving him game time and experience is great but getting a player who actually plays there is better for the team.

Id have no issue the club buying sarr he's got a lot of potential. Sancho might be thinking will we qualify for champions league next year. Are we going to be able to win any trophies. Things that are more likely to happen at dortmund.

Thanks ED001, woukd you take him iver Sancho? Given the reported fees fir bith players.

{Ed001's Note - I can't judge on finances, but I would be wary of spending a lot on Sancho when he doesn't really want to join you. Sarr has other preferences, for now, but he would see United as a giant leap forward in his career, so he is more likely to put his all into his training and playing. Sancho doesn't seem to have that same feeling about United, so he would be a huge risk.}

I think Sarr could be a good alternative, young, EPL proven, great potential, and has a different style to what we have. He could easily provide the attacking thrust wide right that neither Greenwood (as a more natural striker) or AWB (as a more comfortable defender) could. He would potentially add that balance in attack and create more space centrally by stretching the pitch.

Obviously he isn't on Jadon Sancho's level, but that is way he would cost a third of Sancho's price. While as the Ed points out there must be a concern with spending so much money on a player who maybe isn't entirely committed to the idea of signing for us. Pogba wanted to move to Spain, but neither would pay what was required so he moved back to us. Hardly a fantastic success story about signing a player who doesn't really want to move to United.

Could you imagine is Sancho plays in a similar vein to Pogba for 5 years then leave on a free?

Personally I think Greenwood needs to play most weeks and realistically that is only likely to happen on the RW. So brining in a stylistically different option that doesn't burst the bank could be a shrewd move.

I certainly prefer the idea of signing Sarr over players like Perisic, Ousemane Dembele and Coman for example. Three players who are either too old, too injury prone or play their best football on the left rather than the right.

Ed, just on the matter of Sancho and Sarr, you mention that Sancho doesn't really want to join United, why are the board pushing it so hard then? Is this another statement signing (like Di Maria or more recently, Pogba) .

And who would be your number 1 target for the RW position for United?

{Ed001's Note - they are pushing for him because he is seen as the best fit for the United model. Young, English, skilful, exciting and a good player. That's why they are pushing for him. And it is not like his chosen team (Chelsea) are going to come in for him any time soon, certainly not while the money being asked is so high.}

ed01 sarr will not get any better with our coaching staff. look at james he has gone backwards.

{Ed001's Note - that would be the worry with going with Sarr.}

Fair point Ed. No doubt he's talented and has loads of potential. Not too sure how often it works when a player arrives at a club that they don't want to be at, in the first place.

Let's see how the window goes. Doubt that Sancho would be in red come 6th October.

29 Sep 2020 13:40:37
Thanks ED001, I'm not sure why they are still trying to sort a deal our for Sancho. Surely if yiu can't agree a fee etc you move onto your next target. I think Chiesea would be a good fit. Certainly cheaper.

{Ed001's Note - there are a lot of options, no idea why they continue to mess about. If the price is too high move on.}

17.) 29 Sep 2020
29 Sep 2020 14:24:27
ED001, agreed. It is as though they are trying to buy players when perhaps they don't really want to spend any money. i.e bids are way below the asking price. Even the Telles talks appear to be dragging on.

18.) 29 Sep 2020

Exactly Redman. We need to strengthen our options from the bench. Never have I seen Dan James, Ighalo or Lingard have an impact from the bench when we've been chasing the game.

Sly reporting a bid of 90 mil has been rejected.
