Duncan castles reporting (I know I know) that united have proposed a season long loan deal to Barcelona for dembele? But that Barcelona want an obligation to buy for €100mill. Can I assume this is just nonsense Ed? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - This has been dealt with before but it aligns with something Barcelona would accept and resolves the Sancho deal.}

Seems like a big risk to have an obligation to buy a player like dembele for such a large amount of money with his injury record.

Yeah DSG. 35 league starts in 3 years is a pretty poor injury record.

the worst thing about his injuries is that their all muscle injuries for a player of his age, relies on pace

he is to injured.

There’ll be fans swinging by EW’s house again if such an insane deal is agreed. I really wish I could say that the club aren’t that stupid, but these days I wouldn’t be too surprised.

His injury record makes Louis Saha, Owen Harreaves and Phil Jones look like the X Men -sadly.

Why do we always leave it until the end of window and panic buy.

Ruud,

We don’t, that’s just something you’ve assumed happens. The last few happens that hasn’t happened at all, perhaps since Fellaini.

I don't understand this loan with obligation to buy. If the club has to buy after the loan period ends why have the loan in the first place. They can directly buy and agree to make the payment from next year.
Or there are clauses which might make the contract void?

Can someone shed more light on what "obligation to buy" entails?
Is it a Must buy or does it mean if utd want to sign him after loan spell, the fee must be 100m?

{Ed002's Note - It means that the club are contracted to buy.}

GDS,
Fair point. we are far better at making promises and not delivering.

Still, hopefully we pull a win tonight, we need this cup!

I'll be honest GDS, it was strange seeing one of your posts without a lot of red writing after it 😁.

If your going to commit 100 million to buy an injury plagued player next season why not just commit 120 million now to buy Sancho now. Makes no sense at all.

{Ed025's Note - thats been uniteds biggest problem sim0, they put all their eggs in one basket trying to get him and now its difficult to change tack mate..

A loan to buy is nothing short of spending next summers transfer budget this summer. Which makes no sense.

Dembele is a player we should avoid like the plague. His injury record is poor and there are a few question marks over his professionalism and work rate. I wouldn't sign him for 40m let alone 100m.

The way I see it is simple, Sancho is the only player available who I'd like to see signed who goes in on our RW ahead of Greenwood. In 11 minutes last night Greenwood grabbed a goal and set one up. He is more than ready to be first choice.

If we can't get Sancho then what we need is a different rotation option for Greenwood. Someone who offers something different and can step in from time to time to give Greenwood both a physical and mental break. In a couple of months Greenwood will turn 19, he already has over 50 appearances for the first team under his belt.

We should either sign a more traditional wide player who'll run down the outside and look to stretch play, or a wide playmaker sort of player who can come inside and create goal scoring chances.

Considering where we are and who might be available then Ismailia Sarr might be a good option for a more traditional type winger or David Brooks for a wide playmaker. Both are young, EPL proven and easily available, while neither will have a problem being a rotation option at a top club.

The problem is the club have spent so long chasing a marquee signing in Sancho that they will likely receive a lot of fan backlash if they moved from Sancho to Brooks or Sarr.

Mata, Lingard, James.? Every time Mata plays he looks brilliant. Lingard is worth hanging on to - his head now seems in the right place and is a ball of energy.

I’d take Dembele on loan but he has to earn his transfer permanently.

The front 3 of Greenwood, Martial and Rashford is class. Don’t think Ighalo is up to scratch - mind you’re he’s barely played so his touch and fitness will be nowhere near full strength.

Very good player and great to watch but he has had some serious injury issues.
