Latest reports linking Smalling with a move to Inter Milan. The rumour is that Inter want a swap deal involving one pf Joao Mario, Ivan Perisic or Marcelo Brozovic. Any truths ed?

Also who would people prefer as swap if given the choice?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know but I would think they would only be interested as a temporary fix if Skriniar was sold - and would think that Perisic would be the player offered.}

Signing Perisic who is 31 wouldn't be a good deal.
Untested in EPL as well.

{Ed002's Note - At least it would resolve the Sancho issue.}

Thanks ed.
Would Perisic be seen as a Sancho alternative, if Inter came in for Smalling with an offer including Perisic.

I personally think we shouldn't have dug our heels so deep with the Smalling to Roma deal. At least the window is still open and hopefully we facilitate deals for players on the fringe instead of digging our heels in too much.

{Ed002's Note - If Perisic were to sign it gives a short term solution only.}

I think Peresic would be successful In the PL and would continue our history of bringing in a player we looked at in previous windows and even under different managers!
Do I want him, not necessarily but If the Sancho deal is not happening we need to move to whatever the alternative is.
Positives would be that Greenwood's development would continue as I would expect him to see a lot of games. The money Peresic would cost would not prohibit other purchases so we may see another CM as well as LB and possibly even a CD.
Negative is I think this is the window for Sancho as if he has another good season other clubs will be in for him.

The money involved in the Sancho deal is ridiculous. We are in the middle of a global C.V., economies are screwed. The club cannot justify £120m+ on one player anymore - fans slagging off the club for not recklessly spending are extremely naive. Those days are on hold I think until we are through it. The failure to sell fringe players for much needed revenue is an odd one though.

Put the deal on ice for next season and bring in a short term option or promote a youngster. Chong could have done that job in my opinion.

It stinks of a panic buy. If they can't or don't want to pay the money for Sancho then we should of moved on from this weeks ago.

@Eric, they better payup for Sancho now or in a few years you all will the decision to walk away, Halaand. A thing with very good players is that the fees are usually difficult to pay but over time you will be happy you did. He even an advantage in the EPL being English.
Again he may end up at your rival club in the premiership and then it's be rubbed on your face consistently.
I came in peace from the pride of London.

Perisic is a very good player and could do a cracking job for us for 2/ 3 years. I think we should walk away from the Sancho deal I think it could be a very expensive mistake.

WE should have just got willian, missed a trick there.

spent all window knowing what Dortmund wanted but still haven't made an offer.

club is a joke in the transfer market

can even sell players that are wanted by clubs it really is laughable.

Right side and cuts in on his left i think.

Perisic is pretty much two footed. He is comfortable on both wings but he has played more on the left side. He used to play in the centre as well during his time in the bundesliga.

I think Perisic would be a good stop-gap for a year or 2 if we don't sign Sancho this year but still not give up all hope of signing him all together.

I am a big fan of Perisic and will not mind him joining us. However he is a LW who turns 32 in Feb. This is a stop gap solution if at all it is a solution for our RW problem even.

i have to agree with a few on here. I think Perisic would eb a fantastic addition. He is fast and is fairly stong so will adapt to the league well. He can play as a wingback as well which is really useful as we setup with a back 3 against the top 6 and it allows brandon to play on the opposite wing, again its better than having AWB there as his dribbling is not great at best. We will finally be in a position to haev two wingbacks playing on their natural side allowing us to put crosses in.

Would prefer to go for someone like Domenico Berardi.

Perisic has never played on the right. Played 90% of games in last 6 years on the left.

Would have taken him as well as first choice **RM before Ken said he played on the left most of the time. I think we need depth and he's just won the champions league, so has plenty of experience.

**Not sure Sancho is worth the amount quoted. We will have a lot of teams banking up against us like England did against Iceland and Sancho didn't pull any trees up. We will pay 120m euro+ for a unpolished frustrating young player if we are not careful.

It's ok staying he's a good stop gap but a good stop gap for who? Sancho will may not want to go United next season. If he carries on his form this season everyone will be trying to buy him next season. We may not even qualify for the Champions League. I don't get this obsession with "STOP GAP"

Sim, me too. If we can't sign Sancho fine. I'd be a little disappointed but I would be okay with it. But move on and sign another young player who could become that world class RW we are looking for.

The year Ronaldinho moved to Barcelona instead of us we moved for a young Ronaldo instead. The rest they say is history.

If we miss out on Sancho then so be it. But let's look for someone else and move on.

Why are we not looking at Ismalia Sarr as a back up to sancho.

Perisic is an ageing left winger who should be avoided at all costs. An absolute joke if we sign him.

Neres or Chiesa for me but not seen any links so doubt it.
