I am delighted to see tonight's result, and I didn't see the game. But as I scanned the other Europe League results, I felt a sense of sadness. This is where we are now. With FK Qarabag and F91 Dudelange. Competing across a continent with teams I have never heard of. The glorious nights of excitement against the best Italian or Spanish sides feels a long way off, and that feels wrong, but the tables don't lie.

We've qualified, which is great. We are where we are. It will take time. We played well tonight, a couple of mistakes here and there, but it was a good 3-0 win and could have been more.

We appear to be getting our confidence back. No doubt there will be more ups and downs as the season goes on.

Too right DSG. Dodgy season that’s all. One correct managerial appointment and 3/ 4 good signings and we’d be comfortably top 4.

It's the early rounds, we often had to play at least one game against a lesser known team in the UCL group stages.

If we make the quarterfinals or the semifinals then we will likely be playing more recognisable European teams. Don't look at the smallest or least known teams of a competition, look at the winners, those are the teams we will have to beat if we are to win the competition.

Spurs beat the might FK Crvena Zvezda while Liverpool played the European power house Genk, so famous that several Scousers turned up in the wrong city of Gent for the game only to realise their mistake all too late.

So yeah, it sucks being in the Europa League, but it's better than not being in Europe at all. Plus it's a real opportunity to get into the UCL by winning it like we did a few years ago.

Why is the Europa League treated with such contempt?

The old UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cups were treated as important trophies, just below the European Cup but still well worth winning.

Remember the winners of the Europa not only get a place in the Champions League but they will be in pot 1 so should get a, relatively, friendly draw.
