rumours regarding Depay to UTD were very sketchy not too long ago but have gathered a lot of pace in the last week or so could this be an indication a bid is imminent?

Hi Eds, what would you say the likelihood is of us landing Dybala in the Summer keeping in mind the club has already confirmed interest??

rzomcr

{Ed002's Note - Very, very, very slim indeed.}

1.) 24 Feb 2015 10:34:46
I was worried you might say that. thanks anyway

2.) 24 Feb 2015 18:21:56
I would prefer Mauro icardi if I'm honest?

13 Feb 2015 14:26:50
Ive seen that Witsel has once again made it known that he wishes to play for UTD, are there any mutual feelings from the club??

Putting spurs on the back burner its FA Cup Monday and I really fancy us. I think our current style of play has a way of nullifying Arsenals strengths and if we get our shooting boots sorted we can get through the round. If Shaws still "tired" we can play with Blind LB and Carrick starting, he offers that experience in games like this and with Rojo and Smalling pairing up would be IMO our strongest defensive option

rzomcr

1.) 05 Mar 2015 12:57:25
Rzomcr - do you know if Shaw is injured again or was he just given a precautionary rest against Newcastle. Had a look online but couldn't see anything?

2.) 05 Mar 2015 13:06:03
Last I heard was Saturday he was rested because he was tired, with no further update i'm assuming its the same reason.

3.) 06 Mar 2015 11:55:54
You think it would be a good idea to play Blind at LB against some of the quickest wingers in the league??? I think that could well be the worst thing we could do, he would get torn apart.

Good performance last night, ok they too had a gost of chances but nobody on here is kidding themselves our defence is great and strengthening it in summer is a priority i think we all agree on (maybe the only thing ha) but once again our finishing was abysmal. For me tgis has been one of the biggest problems of the season, fair enough in some games we have only created a handful of chances but i strongly feel if we had a clinical finisher we would be in a lot healthier position. Rooney divides opinions and everyone agrees he works hard just as last night he pretty much made that mistake happen, but you can't discount the two sitters he wasted. That brings us to Falcao. do we or don't we give him more time?? Based on price against performance i'm going to say no. We apparently had a 30m bid rejected for Muller and Lewandowski price is being muttered at around 30 so if we was going to stump up 42m maybe we should look at one of those for the same amount if not a little less. Ed has said before don't be surprised at a bid for Benzema but i'm not sold on him it took him a long time to adjust to la liga and will the same happen in the prem? Who knows, what I do know is we need a striker that when it lands at his feet you instantly think Goal, I don't think we have that atm. All opinions welcome.

Luciano Vietto will be a hit in the EPL, we need to seriously consider him, he is Aguero-esque.
Bas Dost is worth a look as well! But Vietto before Lewandoski, Muller, Benzema, Falcao et al.

2.) 05 Mar 2015 09:23:16
Muller and lewandowski would be incredible signings, muller can play anywhere up top and I'm sure he'll be the World Cup all time top scorer some day and lewandowski reminds me of a young rvp, but it seems very unlikely they would come here, especially if we don't make top 4.

3.) 05 Mar 2015 09:47:15
Our defence if you include DDG is great. Without him however.

4.) 05 Mar 2015 10:32:32
rzomcr I agree, I get the same feeling when I watch Muller play.

5.) 05 Mar 2015 12:47:11
I think Ed002 has made it clear that if Muller leaves he will be heading to Madrid and Lewandowski will be unavailable. In the forward department I would rather stick with what we've got (using Rooney more advanced) and bring in Bale.

Or failing that I wouldn't mind Cavani. Watching him against Chelsea a few weeks back I think he would do very well in the Premier League.

Having said that if I could choose a striker other than Ronaldo, Messi, or Aguero obviously, I would like Lewandowski or Suarez.

Imagine we won tonight and everybody just said "great, we won that's 3 points in the bag. on to the next game"

that would be nice

rzomcr

1.) 04 Mar 2015 18:52:44
Then we would wake up and have our cornflakes fella. will never happen on here unfortunately.

2.) 04 Mar 2015 19:18:15
I'm getting to the point where performance is not as important now. It was important but the points eclipse it now it is that serious.

3 points and the usual crap will suit me just fine tonight.

3.) 04 Mar 2015 19:36:23
Its been a good while since I went in to away games like this, with the confidence I used to have. And I don't just mean from the start of this season.

Like Beast says, the time for hoping for great football has passed. It's all about the points now. I'd bite your arm off for three of them tonight.

4.) 04 Mar 2015 21:23:47
This is woeful

5.) 04 Mar 2015 21:24:12
This is so poor!

6.) 04 Mar 2015 21:39:30
Well I'm not going to complain as we got the 3 points and they were vital tonight with the others winning. Same old performance.

LVG out on the touchline as well, nice to see!

Falcao?

7.) 04 Mar 2015 21:41:11
Great, we won that's 3 points in the bag. On to the next game.

8.) 04 Mar 2015 22:05:52
agree, we had to get those points and glad we got them. It would have been nicer had QPR turned arsenal over:) or burnley gotten a result against the scousers. Spurs next and that should be a real good contest.

9.) 04 Mar 2015 22:35:10
I was starting to wonder what an arm would taste like.

10.) 04 Mar 2015 22:50:40
Apparently, it tastes like chicken. Just saying!

11.) 05 Mar 2015 00:26:06
Is Beast coming round to the "LVG Gangs" way of thinking haha

03 Mar 2015 14:54:58
Just seen a stat for Blind and Hererra racking up over 180 passes between them which was 30 more than the entire sunderland team. surely they both start tomorrow and are first on the teamsheet for the rest of season! finally a blossoming partnership to indicate the gel is setting.

rzomcr

1.) 03 Mar 2015 17:49:17
Carrick is back too and LvG seems to rate him too. Not sure what will be the line up in the next game.

2.) 03 Mar 2015 18:38:58
assuming carrick is fit for some of the game i would play him behind these 2.

not the most mobile and exciting 3 in the middle. but this will offer better protection for the 2 cb's and allow the full backs to push on and offer width.

it would then give us the opportunity to test a 4-3-3 formation with these 3 in the middle before some big games that we have coming up where i think they may be needed.

3.) 03 Mar 2015 21:15:07
I love Carrick and I love Blind but I'm not sure we can play both of them. If we do I would have Blind sitting and play Carrick and Herrera as the central 2. Now that's an idea.

4.) 04 Mar 2015 08:47:46
They both can't play. I don't think that they can both play even if one is in CM and the other CB as it sucks so much pace out the team.

It's a tough one because I like Carrick a lot but Blind has been up there with our best players this year and most definitely deserves his spot in the first eleven at the moment.

02 Mar 2015 14:05:52
Coming away from the usual chat for a second i'm interested to see what are peoples opinion of Smallings improvements since his red card on derby day.

rzomcr

1.) 02 Mar 2015 14:18:44
I just mentioned that funny enough.
He has always been a very good defender; but he lacked composure. Now, it looks like he is becoming more composed and has better positional understanding.

2.) 02 Mar 2015 15:03:46
I think the problem with our defenders for a while has been a lack of confidence and they haven't had a run of games, now that Smallings had a few games without any major disruption he has improved a lot and looks more confident too, think smalling and rojo has to be our best pairing

3.) 02 Mar 2015 15:09:08
I kept my eye on him more than usual on Saturday and I loved the fact he always attempts to bring the ball down and play it forward rather than just clearing it. I also admired his desire when he stormed forward and stuck himself in the area like he was the striker haha sometimes its easy to forget he's only 25 and he is improving every game. He gets the nod over Jones for me every time.

4.) 02 Mar 2015 16:22:37
I agree in the sense he's improved his game a lot by adding composure when on the ball. He's always been quick, strong and well timed in the tackle and makes far less mistakes than Jones. It would be nice for him and us if he continued to progress but it still doesn't change the fact we need an experienced leader to partner Rojo and organise the defence like Vidic did.

5.) 02 Mar 2015 16:54:17
yea 100% but its nice to have depth in quality in that area because for me barring the odd few months i never felt Evans was good enough

6.) 02 Mar 2015 20:48:56
I was at the game at the weekend and Smalling's distribution and ability on the ball are as good as any of our CBs at the moment, if not better.

In fact, I would go as far as to say that if he keeps this up he might end up being the a top CB. Long way to go mind.

The only thing I didn't expect after Deadline day was how poor Falcao and Di maria have been. Total anti climax
