The interest or speculation about oumar ounas has gone pretty cold. I do remember him following utd and many utd players all of a sudden. Any news on him eds? Lozano ounas mkhi and ibra, we are looking at a whole new attack.

riddlet026

{Ed004's Note - I haven't heard anything more about him. However, he wouldn't be an automatic starter, same with Lozano}

11 Jun 2016 22:33:27
So Jose said welcome to utd to fellaini? What is that supposed to mean?

riddlet026

1.) 11 Jun 2016 22:56:49
Yeah I read that and thought it was a bit strange, I think it might have been fellaini that said welcome to Utd.

2.) 11 Jun 2016 23:10:03
Maybe simply saying that Fellaini will now be used properly. We haven't seen the real Fellaini and hopefully JM will get the best out of him - a new beginning for a lot of our players I feel.

Just how I read it from what you say he said.

3.) 11 Jun 2016 23:25:21
To be fair, stray elbows aside, I quite like Fellaini. Perhaps Jose sees a combative midfielder we hoped he would always be in there?

4.) 12 Jun 2016 10:06:51
I think jose sent the same message to every utd player at the euros. wouldn't read too much into it, fellaini will be sold this summer.

5.) 12 Jun 2016 10:19:31
I would imagine the message has been lost in translation and he has sent that message to all the players at the euros. Wouldn't be massively surprised if Jose kept him, he brings something to the table that others don't.

6.) 12 Jun 2016 10:27:25
I think it means that we are pulling out of the deal for Zlatan as Jose sees Fellaini as his ideal target man up front. Lol.

7.) 12 Jun 2016 11:24:24
Fellaini is not and never has been a United level player.

8.) 12 Jun 2016 13:52:59
Prodigal,

Yet he will start in centre mid for one of the favourites at Euro 2016.

9.) 12 Jun 2016 14:25:50
GDS,

A game isn't won with good odds its won with quality players. Fellaini is not a player with the ability we need to push a top 4 finish. I do not honestly believe any of the top 4 teams would play him. So why should we?

10.) 12 Jun 2016 22:20:08
I think Arsenal and Chelsea had enquired about him before he came to Utd. Or at least were interested in him. Maybe Mourinho and Wenger know nothing.

11.) 13 Jun 2016 11:35:55
Fellaini back in Toffee day was quite a threat. Hopefully Jose will be able to shine him. and foremost memphis. he's our no. 7 fgs!

12.) 13 Jun 2016 10:18:56
He definitely is the tallest midfielder we have had in years as most of the others have been close to midgets:)

13.) 13 Jun 2016 13:44:41
Love him or hate him the but he can actually do a job.
I remember 3 or 4 games (last season) where just about all of us said he was the best player we had on the pitch.
He needs to stop the elbows straying though.

14.) 14 Jun 2016 02:39:51
One of the favourites at the euro 2016? If that's the case, then i guess every team in the tournament is favourites?

15.) 14 Jun 2016 07:34:53
Stoupid correct me if I'm wrong but aren't Belgium currently the second highest rated country in the world in FIFA rankings. Surely that makes them one of the favourites before the tournament?

16.) 14 Jun 2016 10:55:35
I think Jose means that they haven't been playing for 'UNITED' as we know them. Now he is in charge, we are going to see the real UNited.

17.) 14 Jun 2016 21:00:03
Fifa rankings :D please.

Velencia and fellaini have been brilliant this season and many would have bet they were going to leave at the start of the summer.
I think it's only fair for people like rojo or basti to be given a chance under the new manager before people start slating them too.

riddlet026

1.) 25 Aug 2016 12:43:05
I'm all for giving credit where it's due but "this season " we are 3 games in including the community shield. stop getting carried away with it.

2.) 25 Aug 2016 13:27:12
Maybe they aren't getting the chances because after watching them in training under his new methods and playing to his tactics Mourinho doesn't believe they will perform at a high enough level. Where are maybe Valencia and Fellaini have shown a high level of performance and understanding.

Either way the players are playing well, the teams playing well, and we are winning so I find it very hard to pick fault in the way Mourinho is running things at the moment.

3.) 25 Aug 2016 17:36:49
I didn't het the Bastian love in yesterday. I think he was interested in things other than United last year and as for him playing really well, I appear to have missed that.

As for Rojo, I don't see where he gets to play.

4.) 25 Aug 2016 17:59:01
My view on Fellaini and Valencia are that that they are not naturally gifted but have grafted to get to where they are. This has meant when Mourinho comes in they are happy to listen and adapt to his Way of playing and as it stands it is working for them. Over the season who knows as I can still see a RB coming In before end of next week and new HM next year.
But they will be invaluable to the squad.

5.) 25 Aug 2016 23:27:33
Totally agree AJH. What game did Schweinsteiger play well? He was completely ineffectual. More interested in watching his girlfriend playing tennis than turning out for United.
The players expressed their displeasure and Mourinho has spotted that very early and told him to pack his bags.
I'm not sure what all the fuss is all about.

6.) 26 Aug 2016 10:31:44
Bastian hardly played 90 minutes last year and he has been a complete waste of money and a player who is past his best and physically just to able to deal with the pl.

I have to disagree with people who think Valencia and fellaini are not good enough. if you look at the squad fellaini/ carrick are probably the best number 6 we have and valencia has more to offer in the right back position than anyone else. I am not surprised at all jose is playing them and believe he will continue to do so and rotate the front 5 more than the back 5.

Shahram, enter the competition mate!

08 Aug 2016 06:31:50
Want to point out one thing
There were many moments when Leicester parked the bus and looked to play on the counter. Virtually the full game. Rooney used to drop deep and then used to try to spray out the ball on the wings.
Thats where Pogba will make a difference imo. He can hit the target very accurately whilst placing it away from the gk from that range.

Does lingard look like a poor man's di maria or what.

riddlet026

1.) 07 Aug 2016 19:40:59
Good goal but what the hell was that goal celebration.

2.) 07 Aug 2016 19:43:18
If he plays like that every week he will have no problems from me (I don;t rate Lingard that highly) . But he kept the ball well, worked hard, looked quick, made an effort to support/ attack and looked far better than Ibra, Rooney and Martial. He also allowed Valencia to attack space with his clever movement.

ADM wouldn't be fit to lace his boots if you compare their performances for the club.

3.) 07 Aug 2016 19:49:41
Thought he looked better than Di Maria ever did for us.

4.) 07 Aug 2016 20:16:38
One thing that I've noticed in the pre season games is Valencia seems to have remembered how to cross the ball again.

5.) 07 Aug 2016 20:37:37
Lingards goal looked like he was frustrated with the team and just wanted to show how to shoot the ball.

6.) 07 Aug 2016 20:44:58
A test of a good manager is how they elevate the games of the so-called average players. The o-Shea and park ji-sungs of the Ferguson era are a good example. Mourinho seems to be able to do the same and inspire them to give that little bit more which makes a lot of difference. Not being able to do that was one of the reasons I felt let down by lvg.

7.) 08 Aug 2016 04:30:17
I think Jesse has a lot to offer. He likes quick 1 touch football. His interplay is generally good. He has an eye for goal. Good vision. And Has shown leadership already, playing with more experienced players, he's prepared to bark the orders.

Tony V is a good player, he needs to be encouraged to take defenders on and cross the ball much much more.
He is still quicker than most and can cross well (I've said here before he was seen as the main provider to Rooney in Rooneys most prolific year) .
Good to see him getting back to his own game.

8.) 08 Aug 2016 07:23:33
Agree Bilko, perhaps Valencia might be the flying right back Jose wants, putting regular crosses in, linking with Micky, with TFM as back up, Shaw on other side doing the same linking with Martial

Does rather look bleak for Darmian.

Juat read this really good article today:
*removed*

riddlet026

{Ed001's Note - rather than copying and pasting without even giving credit to the author, it would be best to give a link or at least mention who wrote it and where it was. We are not here to steal other people's hard work!}

1.) 29 Jul 2016 09:33:39
Steal? I said i read it, not wrote it.

2.) 29 Jul 2016 12:04:04
I'm sure the author would appreciate it if people read it on the website it's published though, as that's how they make their money. Think that's what Ed was getting at.

3.) 29 Jul 2016 14:21:18
Aah i see! My bad! It was on twitter mufc_today about how pogba money isn't as crazy as it looks.
Happy birthday ed001!

{Ed001's Note - sorry mate should have explained better what I was meaning and thank you.}

21 Jun 2016 09:35:49
Do we not insert buy back clauses after selling young players?
I mean players like zaha, michael keane, brady, drinkwater would be decent additions to our squad, not to mention shawcross, pique etc.

riddlet026

1.) 21 Jun 2016 10:01:22
I'd only take pique out of all of them to be honest.

2.) 21 Jun 2016 10:46:09
Zaha may yet prove SAF right.

3.) 21 Jun 2016 11:33:50
Drinkwater was in the top 5 midfielders in the league last season but he isn't Spanish so I suppose he would be no good to our squad Andy.

4.) 21 Jun 2016 12:36:02
He's had one good season, if I remember correctly the vast majority of people last summer didn't want to risk buying Harry Kane after one good season. If he does well next season fair enough but I just feel we should be aiming higher.

5.) 21 Jun 2016 12:59:49
I get what you mean RedAndy. Who wants a league winner at the top of his game I our sqaud anyway.

6.) 21 Jun 2016 13:38:56
Vardy, mahrez, kante, and the fact that they went virtually injury free the whole season won them the league, they are the worst quality side to ever win it. Plenty of players have premier league winners medals, doesn't mean we should sign them. He didn't get into the England squad, if he was that good he would have been the first player on the England team sheet.

7.) 21 Jun 2016 13:54:32
RedAndy,

Spot on mate, don't bite at it, it's been a lovely few months without anyone trying to start arguments.

8.) 21 Jun 2016 15:14:36
Red Andy Drinkwater was as much a part of that side as Kante and co. I also wouldn't label them as the 'worst quality side to ever win the league'. They were plenty quality and were an absolute joy to watch. Just because they didn't have fancy names doesn't mean they weren't quality. That's a moronic statement.

As for England, the fact that he didn't make it in to the Euros says more about Roy and his set up than it does anything else. He had a much better season than mostly all of those midfielders yet Roy opts for Wheelchair Wilshire among others. Go figure.

9.) 21 Jun 2016 16:30:16
You've just got to ask if any big clubs are after any of their players except for vardy mahrez and kante, I haven't heard of anyone offering big money for Danny Simpson or Robert huth. They had a very lucky season, everything went right for them including the terrible form of the top clubs, and I would honestly be very disappointed if we went after drinkwater when in my opinion we already have a similar player of a better quality in Schneiderlin. (Having a poor first season when he wasn't consistently picked under van gaal doesn't make him a bad player)
I'll agree some of Hodgsons selections have been questionable but if drinkwater really was as good as you say he is then he wouldn't have seen him as surplus
Also the "fancy name" argument you keep coming out with is ridiculous, it's not like I've ever said I didn't want a player to come to us because he's English, I've vocally backed our young English lads when they were getting a bit of stick on here.

10.) 21 Jun 2016 16:44:45
Woy of the wovers. what a load of Wubish.
The spirit of LVG lives on.

Could have happened to anyone mate.
Besides city looked very timid. If you need a penalty and own goal to win against sunderland, they are going to be in for a very difficult season.
Correct me if I'm wrong but they looked a lot like van gaals utd of December. Too many square passes and a frustrated striker.

No point in signing him. If we do we will lose both bailly and kalibou for huge chunks of the season every alternate year thanks to afcon.

Ounas looks like the perfect buy for us. Left sided right winger, has lots of pace, and is only 19. Would rather get him than nani.

dont think smalling will play there. just because ivanovic played there for chelsea, it doesn't mean jose likes only big players there :P
if darmian does leave though, i would really love it if we re signed rafael. but that probably won't happen.

Turns 33 in 4 months. No thanks.
Don't think we need a cb now. Let the dust settle. If it's needed we can always buy one in jan. Blind, smalling, jones (okay maybe tuanzebe instead of him) deserve a chance with bailly. let's not forget we had one of the best defences in the pl last year.

Not that it matters but he did not score in rooneys testimonial
If he can keep scoring like this he will be immense for us this season
I just think rooney and ibra are never going to jel because they both need people running around them.

Basti started really well. Before the arsenal away game when we were top of the table i read a lot about how he behaved like a 2nd capn in our side on the pitch, what an absolute daddy on the pitch and yada yada yada.
Yes he was out for most of the time after that and yes draxler went past him like he didn't exist but if there's anybody to blame, I'm afraid it's mr van gaal. Which injury prone player wouldn't sign a 200k/ w contract at the biggest club in the world when he knows his best days are behind him?
