As a random distraction to all current posts, which players have you been in the playground?

For me:
Steve Coppell
B Greenhoff
Jesper Olsen

As I said. random.

My earliest memory if of pretending to be Trevor Francis for some reason. Are you sure you meant Brian and not Jimmy?

2.) 28 Oct 2015 07:14:37
Martin Buchan is the original answer to that, then at the end of my school days Pancho with the arm punch when I scored.

3.) 28 Oct 2015 08:00:58
Mark Hughes when playing Heads and Volleys (remember that game) . Maradona other times as my dad brought me his video and shirt. Occasionally Georgie, but I hadn't seen enough footage during my early years.

4.) 28 Oct 2015 08:53:14
Brian McClair for me, always loved choccy growing up and then that quickly changed to Cantona then Ole after '99.

5.) 28 Oct 2015 09:29:59
Becks and Zizou for me just simply because of the amount of media coverage they got. If you didn't have a pair of Beck's new Preds growing up you were a nobody.

6.) 28 Oct 2015 10:03:13
I had Ronaldos R9's, I used to be him or peruzzi when playing in goal :)

7.) 28 Oct 2015 10:10:49
I used to always be the mighty Bebe. Was a funny joke between me and my friends because I was awful on the school pitch.

8.) 28 Oct 2015 11:06:52
Gary Neville, almost always Gary. Carrick when in MF and Had an odd Zlatan one day :P.

9.) 28 Oct 2015 11:50:41
Lol CTR, they are the 2 I always was when playing, I had ronaldos boots and also his Brazilian jersey with name and number.

10.) 28 Oct 2015 12:19:57
I remember being Emmanuel Petit in the garden at one point during World Cup '98 : (

I also remember pretending to be Giggsy after THAT FA Cup goal.

Of course I was always Scholesy in the playground, running the show!

11.) 28 Oct 2015 12:24:46
I even get 'disagrees' for discussing my childhood idols. I love this page lol.

Haters going to hate!

12.) 28 Oct 2015 12:40:59
To be honest i think my earliest was Van Nistelrooy. But often i remember playing GK as a kid and being Ricardo. (after that penalty save he did once)

13.) 28 Oct 2015 13:20:48
Bryan Robson.
Or Hughes or McClair.

14.) 28 Oct 2015 14:34:04
When in goal - Gary Bailey
Outfield -Either Big Gordon McQueen OR Stevie Coppell.

15.) 28 Oct 2015 15:51:14
Roberto baggio for foreign. Robson for domestic.

16.) 28 Oct 2015 18:07:52
Bryan Robson, Kevin Keegan and erm Zico or Socrates if I was in a flair mood.

17.) 28 Oct 2015 19:41:56
Olsen and robbo 😃.

Thought as a team we were fairly comfortable til the red card. Surprised with the team selection but Giggs was all over the pitch like a rash. Welbeck stretched the play well and Carrick impressed. I have to say the back four were excellent tonight too.
Roy Keane likes being controversial whenever possible so I'm not going to hold a grudge over his baffling opinion
Hopefully the injustice felt after this game spurs us on in the remaining games

1.) Just saw Keane's interview and he is a right old person and a bitter rubbish. Never a red card as we see week in week out high footed play even when the player sees the other player there and at worst it is a yellow and most times not even a card.

For a guy who put some sick tackles into people during his career, his opinion only points to absolute bitterness and not a balanced argument. I guess the manager knew what he was doing when he shipped him out.

2.) How many european cups SHOULD you have won by now, 7? 9? More? Of course, that isn't including the one you SHOULD have won this season. but didn't

Ferguson: " we should have been European Champions many more times in the lad 15 years. "

But you weren't- enough said.

Carl Liverpool

3.) So now Keano's tackles were sick were they. I'll bet you were not saying that and were cheering every time he made one for ye. Typical United fan cannot face up to it when someone goes and tells it like it is. Too used to Gary and the boys licking arse every saturday and just can't handle the truth.

Glad someone has mentioned Danny Higginbotham. Although he's not a 'top name' his analysis is as good as Neville.
There's too many average pundits on the TV who really don't add anything in my opinion so Ian Wright is a stand out due to his 'say it as it is style'
I listen a lot to Talksport during the day and also look forward to Danny Murphy which is something that I hesitate to admit too.

I'd go all out to sign Lewandowski rather than Benteke. If we don't get a top top striker, then I'd even suggest we go for Charlie Austin rather than Benteke and look to develop Depay and Wilson

Benteke isn't pacey enough for my liking and wouldn't appreciate us spending over £30 million on someone like him, when Austin who imo is similar would be available for a third of that

What I've enjoyed is the dominance using different tactics. Against Liverpool it was down the right with Valencia, Mata and Herrera, against Man City it was down the left with Blind, Fellaini and Young and against Spurs it was through the middle and both wings.
It's been quite a transformation from LVG using players who I fully expected to be peripheral squad players.
Looking forward to the match up against Chelsea and see whether we can dominate in the same way
Big mention for Carrick and Young today

I'd really like to see Jones/Smalling and Evans used to form the ongoing CB partnership. unless LvG can model Jones into a ball playing midfielder(!)

As long as we're adding decent quality in midfield and left back then I'd like to think we've got enough in the squad to get a CL place next year with just a couple of additions.

We may end up like Liverpool in that we concede too many; but as long as we revert back to the that dynamic powerful attacking forward play, then I'd settle for that at the moment.
