Eds, thanks for the tremendous work that you guys are doing.

Fred being linked for a move to Roma by several media outlets, any truth in this?

Victor J.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure.}

Ed002! A lot of media reports saying we are interested in pepe the winger playing for lille. Don't remember him being mentioned in sharkopod. Is there any truth to these rumours. Further, there has been no news on our interest in alderweild (spurs cb), are we still interested in him?

Victor J.

{Ed002's Note - There has not been any approach to Manchester United but there is a maturity issue making others think again at what is a very high price for the player.}

Thanks for your prompt reply!

Sounds like a good fit.

Hi Ed002

Just read on Liverpool page that Manchester united met with Schalke"s leon goretzka's representatives.

Do you see any deal happening and further what are your views on Leon Goretzka.

Victor J.

{Ed002's Note - I think there are other more likely destinations but a discussion has happened - and he certainly would not be first choice for the club.}

Hi ed002

Read that yoy mentioned that Asensio of Real Madrid shall be alowed to leave. I tried searching on european pages and found that you last mentioned that real doesnot want to sell him. If you have the time can you please share his destination.

Victor J.

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant who they have been speaking to. And you do realise this is the Manchester United page?}

1.) 03 Dec 2017 22:34:38
I am pretty sure the side speaking to Real Madrid about Asensio is Chelsea Victor.

2.) 04 Dec 2017 09:56:00
Ed002, You mentioned that Marco Asensio is a player United have considered but that Real Madrid are reluctant to sell. As such it was you didn’t consider it likely to happen. Also that Griezmann is less likely to move to United as United feel that a left winger is a higher priority. So with Real Madrid’s stance on selling Asensio softening slightly do you think it likely that United might consider making a move for Asensio? Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - It is possible. They have spoken with another club about him but I expect MU will consider Bale further.}

3.) 04 Dec 2017 10:59:40
Signing Bale would be playing right into Real Madrid's hands. Not only would it give them plenty of cash to go strengthen, it would get an injury ravaged player off their wage bill and create the space in the first team for Asensio making it more likely he would stay. I would stay as far away from Bale as possible.

Guyz missed the game. Can anybody comment on how Lindelof performed?

What are everybody's (including eds) views on him seeing that he performed well in last 2 games prior to arsenal.

Victor J.

1.) 03 Dec 2017 09:19:47
I think the three at the back system suits him well. It also covers for a lot of Smalling's shortcomings. Although I will feel much better going into the City game if Jones and Bailly are back fit.

2.) 03 Dec 2017 13:12:34
Lindelof is given more freedom in a three. He frustrated Sanchez yesterday. Any time Sanchez approached the area he was on him like a rash. This is what Bailly would usually do, but I'd love to see how a three of Lindelof, Bailly and Rojo could work as they are all great on the ball.

Seen a stat that Lindelof is MU's fifth fastest player. That's some feat if true.

{Ed004's Note - I think if the plan is to play 3 at the back it should be Lindelof/Bailly competing for the right side, Smalling a permanent fixture in the centre and Rojo/Jones competing for the left side. I think our best back line would be Bailly, Smalling, Rojo. If we are still looking at a centre back I would look to find an upgrade on Smalling or potential replacement such as Van Dijk or Upamecano. I also would start preparing Tuanzebe to replace Jones (too injury prone) and compete with Rojo
I thought Lindelof played well yesterday though and the back 3 is helping a lot of our defenders}

3.) 03 Dec 2017 13:38:47
I don't think Smalling is in Jose's long-term plans mate. But he's decent in a three. I know Ed002 has said we are interested in another CB, but other than Garay who else has been mentioned?

{Ed004's Note - I’m not sure. I think in the Sharkopods Upamecano, Luiz? and Umtitti were mentioned but they would all be expensive. Also think Umtitti would be a Rojo replacement not one for central position. I think Smalling has been excellent recently and his form is really going under the radar but he just lacks a bit too much on the ball to be building a team around. I think if we could get someone like Varane or Van Dijk it would be a massive improvement. Not sure Umtitti is enough of an upgrade on Rojo to spend the money on.}

4.) 03 Dec 2017 14:09:47
Jose has a clear long-term interest in Varane, but would RM sell and would he move to United? But agree a back three of Bailly, Varane and Rojo would be some defence. Although I think Lindelof, Bailly and Rojo would be very strong eventually. I'm sure he knows what he wants, but Ed002 has said for sometime Smalling is available and even Jones. I think we have more pressing concerns though, so maybe we will concentrate on other areas first?

{Ed004's Note - Varane would be the ideal signing. Though I don’t think he would be attainable and he would be very expensive. He’s also very injury prone. I’m not sure the central position would suit Bailly. Ideally, it would be someone aerially dominant, quick and very imposing. That’s why I think Smalling is performing so well there. An extra bonus would be someone very good on the ball as well. The likes of Varane and Van Dijk have that presence to make the position their own. If we go for a 3 at the back position we would only need 3 signings to our current squad. A rb to compete with Valencia, a left back and an upgrade on Lingard (Griezmann or Ozil ideally).

5.) 03 Dec 2017 14:21:38
Yeah he is quick. But he is not hard enough. ha ha that's what mrs beast says about beast as well😂😂😂.

6.) 03 Dec 2017 14:30:35
Bailly is better than all of the above on the ball. His passing is great and he's very quick. I guess all he lacks is that imposing beast look. Yet he's 6'1", so not small. I think Bailly would do very well centrally, not sure I'd spend £60m+ on someone like VVD or Varane when we have more urgent concerns elsewhere in the first team. It will be interesting to see what Jose decides. But I like the thought of trying Lindelof, Bailly and Rojo. Then there's Tuanzebe, Smalling and Jones as cover.

7.) 03 Dec 2017 15:12:51
004 I agree that if we play 352 that we are well off for forwards rash ibra martial lukaku cover the 2 striker positions very well but in the summer ibra will need replacing.

We are very light on like for like cover for matic which is why fabhino would make the ideal signing providing top class competition and cover for both valencia and Matic. And also pogba.

Then a left back / wing back to challenge young. Rose imo when on form is excellent but his injury record is poor he is also cup tied. Tierney looks happy to stay ay Celtic for now. I don't see another attainable outstsnding candidate for Jan but I'm sure we have a list.

The cb is the interesting one. Smalling has been playing well. I'm not a fan of Jones or rojo. Both will and can play very well but Jones is totally unreliable and rojo is too rash imo but i do love their attitudes. Varane would be ideal but it's a real long shot. i'd love to see shaw and Jones playing for Southampton in Jan and VVD playing for us which is an even longer shot 😂.

{Ed004's Note - I think centre back is the last position I would prioritise. I could see Griezmann replacing Ibra in the squad. Would leave Lukaku, Griezmann, Martial, Rashford, Mkhitaryan, Lingard and maybe Mata for the front 3 positions. If Fellaini goes we are one short in midfield. Lastly, we need 2 fullbacks before a centre back}

8.) 03 Dec 2017 15:27:49
Ed4
I agree I think smalling has played really well of late wins nearly everything in the air.

{Ed004's Note - He is by far and away the best centre back in the air for us. If he is replaced we need to get someone just as dominant}

9.) 03 Dec 2017 16:57:03
Smalling has been very good this season in the three. If he was better on the ball he would have it all. I can remember when Smalling was given a run a couple seasons ago and he was unbeatable. Under LvG too he had a purple patch. Jones with a run of games was great too, same with Rojo. Sometimes players just need those games. Lindelof is another example of this. I'd be a little worried chucking Bailly or Jones straight back in. Last time both back from injury had baaaad games. I may be inclined to keep the same formation bar Pogba against City.

{Ed004's Note - I would play the exact same formation and style vs City. My only change would be Herrera for Pogba. Play them exactly the way West Ham have so far in this game today}

10.) 03 Dec 2017 17:05:28
I agree Ed004. Herrera will need to be very busy this weekend. We'll miss Pogba breaking and I'd prefer it if Herrera stayed back. I wonder if we'll see Matic get forward? Or could we play with Young? He have to test City because like Liverpool they aren't great at the back. Their best defence is attack. We need to have a go when we have the ball. Pogba's composure on the ball and ability to pick the pass will be a massive loss.

{Ed004's Note - City are also poor from set pieces, Pogba is a big missing on those. I would continue with Young at leftback}

11.) 03 Dec 2017 18:05:33
If bailly is fit it wouldn't shock me if lindelof played In beside matic. It's the sort of thing jose does from time to time.

Press has linked us recenty with a lot of full backs, so invite your views on who should be the ideal rb and lb we would be looking at

For LB Rose/ Martins/ tierney/ others
For RB Meunier/ fabinho/ others.

Victor J.

1.) 31 Oct 2017 08:22:23
Coleman and Tierney.

2.) 31 Oct 2017 08:28:09
For me we should go after Rose. He wants to return north, experienced yet young enough to get 5 years out of him. Also think him with Rash/ Martial down the left we would be a real threat.
Fabhino of that list as he adds midfield cover also.

3.) 31 Oct 2017 09:08:41
Rose has played something like 100 league games in the last 7 seasons has to be concerns over his fitness .
I quite like Coleman, again coming back from a bad injury and will be 30 next season .
Tierney has just signed a 6 year contract.

4.) 31 Oct 2017 10:11:18
There is a real lack of quality full backs out there atm, at RB you obviously have options such as Fabinho who has played in CM for the last 18 months, or Meunier, maybe Cancelo could be an option. For me though I would seriously consider Henrichs at Leverkusen. He has massive potential and with Valencia still having a season or two left in him I think we could afford to look at a youngster for RB.
At LB Rose is an obvious choice but his injury record isn't great. Tierney has just signed a 6 year contract so I don't see him leaving Celtic any time soon. Aaron Martin looks a good young option but the guy I personally would go for would be Grimaldo at Benfica. We will see him again tonight, keep a close eye on him, he totally locked down his flank in the last game against us and has been playing at that level for the past couple of seasons.

5.) 31 Oct 2017 10:52:29
I agree with that shaps to a point .
People want full backs that can attack but a lot of them can't defend .
You will be asked and have to defend in the EPL which is why imo a lot of defenders struggle and take time to adapt to the EPL.

6.) 31 Oct 2017 15:29:34
tierne
RB Meunier.

7.) 31 Oct 2017 17:28:43
Coleman is not an option Any longer he suffered a worse break than shaw to his leg. Should have signed him 5 years ago.
Rose has a poor injury record. When fit he is better than most.
Tierny i think will be a top player. I think probably will end up at Liverpool in a year or 2.
Fabhino is just a rrally good football player. Top class in midfield and was a top class rb. Munier i like. Tough defrnder and offers plenty in attack.
Dont know much about aaron martins but mentioned a lot recently.
A fit rose and because of his versatility fabhino would be my choices. With young and mitchell as back up i'd be happy to take a chance on rose at the right price.

So guys what are your views on transfers done by noisy neighbours so far with probably Bertrand to follow. They have bought some good players but I feel ultimately it will come done to how well and quickly they would gel as a team.

I also wonder that it will be a true test of how good a manager Pep is in maintaining squad harmony, considering most of the players bought were first team players for their old team and may not even make the city bench.

Victor J.

1.) 24 Jul 2017 14:27:50
Will be intrigued to see how he keeps 4full backs of the the quality they have happy.
Unless he goes 3 at the back with full backs rather than CBs with the others as wing backs! Crazy.

2.) 24 Jul 2017 19:12:37
Brad. I think injuries and form have to be taken into consideration. We have no fit left back and when fit, Shaw is not to be relied on. Rb is Valencia. But he's very limited going forward as is darmian.
Trust me, city will win the league this year. The nucleus of players, kompany Jesus Aguero sanÄ— de bruyne silva toure are all there and tgeyve added 2 top class full backs, an excellent gk and a wonderful playmaker in Bernardo Silva. And they're not finished.
Owners who actually care about football and want success. The same cannot be said of the Glazers and Woodward. I think mourinho is finding this out to his disappointment.

Hi ed002

Sorry to bother if already covered.
Read on European page than marquinos will probably leave. Does Manchester United hold any interest in him as well as lacazatte to whom we have been linked and if test would they be open to move to us.

Victor J.

{Ed002's Note - I did not say "probably" and no.}

Hi ed002

I understand that you donot want to discuss timings. But do you expect swap deal, with sanchez going to man utd and mkhtaryan going to arsenal, happening.

If mkhtaryan refuses to go to arsenal do you still expect man utd to sign sanchez in all cash deal.

Victor J.

{Ed002's Note - Possibly, the situation is that Arsenal would like to take him but there is no agreement right now. Manchester United has spoken with his agent about a couple of options that they see for MH, one of which is Arsenal. As I have explained, MC would be happy to wait until the summer and pay the player a hefty signing on fee - Arsenal could potentially force that situation. It will be resolved one way or another at some point soon, but both players and both representatives, particularly Mino, have a significant say in this.}

It's early days and difficult to judge on few pre-season games.

But considering his performances so far. should not be an automatic starter.

As per ed02 apparently Griezmann staying so i think we can all forget Griezmann.
(Ed002's Note - The release clause is of no relevance. Manchester United are keen. Chelsea had concerns and stepped back. Eventually Manchester United will understand why Chelsea stood back. I expect him to stay one more season in Madrid as it stands right now or they will pay way over the odds. }.

"Good evening

Can I please have the latest on the following Monaco players

Mendy
Fabinho
Lemar
Bakayoko

Many thanks
Genuine_31"
{Ed002's Note - (a) Of interest to Manchester City, Liverpoool with Arsenal, Juventus and Inter not seeing value in his asking price. (b) Of interest to Manchester United and Barcelona with Napoli, Juventus and Manchester City all passing for now. (c) Bayern Munich and Arsenal are keen - Chelsea and Manchester City were told that only one of Silva and Lemar would be sold, so price could potentially become prohitive. (d) Of interest to Manchester United and, particularly Chelsea with Juventus, Arsenal, Leicester, Southampton and Stoke all out of the picture. }.
