Just wondering if any of the eds know if United will try to sign Mane in January or will they wait until the summer. Thanks in advanced.

Utd_7

{Ed002's Note - Southampton are not looking to sell Mane and they want to offer him a new contract. As it stands right now it would take a very significant offer to have them consider a sale - and they have made it clear - if ayone wants to pay well over the odds, then fine. Manchester United has had the player watched this season. Previous interest of Bayern Munich has gone.}

1.) 04 Dec 2015 22:55:22
From reading the round up the other day ed it seems the club is targeting young potential talent which I am all for the question that I wanted to ask was whether we are looking at the talented homegrown players?

{Ed002's Note - Clubs will always be looking for home grown talent but will be keen to bring through such players from the academy.}

2.) 05 Dec 2015 11:37:10
Thanks ed.

23 Jul 2015 17:01:31
Just wondering if any of the edd's know if the interest in Pedro is real or just paper talk. Thanks in advanced

Utd_7

{Ed004's Note - there is serious interest in the player I think}

1.) 23 Jul 2015 19:32:40
Ed004 is it seen as a replacement for adm or would he come even if adm stayed?

{Ed004's Note - I think he would probably be a replacement unfortunately. I want Di Maria to stay and prove himself this season but if we wants to go better to sell him now when he has still a big value.}

2.) 23 Jul 2015 20:05:34
I'm gutted. Hate to see a top player not make it at our club

11 Jul 2015 16:41:36
Hey edds do any of you still think that we will try to sign schneiderlin even tho we have an agreement for BS ?

Utd_7

{Ed004's Note - Been answered}

1.) 11 Jul 2015 19:37:44
I believe les reeds interview with sky also answers this I believe he said we had been talking not necessarily negotiating but there have been talks about schneiderlin maybe schweinsteiger is why we haven't bid. yet, also andy mitten (tends to be reliable) says we are still interested and player has made his desire to join known

2.) 12 Jul 2015 15:43:55
An agent has just said schneiderlin is in advanced talks with us and arsenal if that's the case then I think we're going to lose out its like depay when he chose van Gaal over Rogers because he's Dutch think the same will apply with wenger and the French connection once again we have left it too late instead of just paying the money when we were the only ones in for him

07 Jul 2015 16:58:01
Various reports suggesting we are going to make a bid for muller. Just wondering if any of the eds have any information on this or is it just paper talk. Thanks in advanced .

Utd_7

{Ed007's Note - Sounds like something off Twitter to me.}

1.) 07 Jul 2015 18:37:40
Muller Rice? He's tasty!

15 Jun 2015 17:22:51
Just wondering if any of the eds know who is a realistic target for RB. Now that Dani Alves signed a new contract at Barca and our supposed interest in Clyne going away.

Utd_7

{Ed004's Note - I would guess Clyne or Coleman}

1.) 16 Jun 2015 09:43:43
Gregory van der Wiel should imo be one of the top targets for RB. Him or Matteo Darmian would be best placed, maybe Santiago Arias as an outside bet.

I'm not totally convinced by Clyne, and I don't think its worth paying the money it would cost for Coleman. Full backs aren't game changers so we shouldn't be spending upward of 25m on them. 15-20m should be the most we pay for a full back. Luke Shaw may well become one of the best full backs in the world but he will never truly live up to the fee we paid for him. Not when you consider we could have signed Layvin Kurzawa or Ricardo Rodriguez for half of what we paid for Shaw and they are both currently better players and have just as much potential.

2.) 16 Jun 2015 09:51:37
I'd like to see Clyne here, or Coleman. But they will be expensive and if it means less money is spent on forward positions and midfield then I would want neither and would go for a cheaper player like Van der Weil who is a decent right back by all accounts.

3.) 16 Jun 2015 14:06:56
How about the Dutch lad at Newcastle.yes there defence was dodgy last year butlvg knows him, he actually was one of there better players and with better round him would improve.
Of course he is also Dutch!!

{Ed001's Note - Janmaat? He is a better all round player I think, just not playing in a good unit.}

4.) 16 Jun 2015 21:24:32
I think £20-25m for Coleman is a great price. We haven't replaced Neville, he is a replacement.
Defending and attacking are both consistantly good from Coleman. I don't know if u noticed, but we seem to create lots of space down the right too.

{Ed025's Note - he was awful last season patzi, he started believing his own hype for me..and is a miserable sod as well..

Quick question for any of Eds. How does terminating a contract of a player work? Does both the player and the team have to agree with this? Or can the team Just pay him off and cancel the contract.

Utd_7

{Ed002's Note - Both have to agree.}

@ed004

Just wanted to hear your thoughts on the pending transfer of Maguire. Do you think he was the best choice out there? Or are we making a mistake again

Thanks in advanced!

Utd_7

{Ed004's Note - I'm undecided atm. I reckon if he had a bit of pace he would be the perfect signing but his lack of it does really hamper him because his positional play is not outstanding. I think a main positive of the move is that we now have a settled back four. If you ask most of our fans for their best back line combination 90% would agree that its De Gea, Wan Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire and Shaw. The only debate would be lindelofs spot as there are arguments for Smalling, Bailly and maybe Tuanzebe. Either way I think we have sorely missed playing with a settled backline.

If you look at the defence Ive posted above, all of them are comfortable on the ball. Before he was signed and under LVG, DDG was known as a ball playing keeper confortable with his feet, all of the back 4 are very comfortable on it too. Wan Bissaka and Shaw are both very quick so can cover for the centre backs although I do think Lindelof is quicker than given credit for. Lastly, there is very good height in that backline. Wan Bissaka and Shaw are both tall fullbacks who are very competent in the air, Lindelof has improved massively in that regard and Maguire might be the best in the league. Ideally we also sign Fernandes and then we have a few very good attacking threats for set pieces}

1.) 14 Jul 2019 20:46:25
Lindeloff is actually not as slow as you think. Its because he is rarely caught out of position so you don't see him full on sprinting.

We have been crying out for a settled defence for years now

Get 2/ 3 central mids and a rw and it would be the perfect window for us

And if lukaku and pogba go try and replace.

2.) 14 Jul 2019 21:05:01
I really hope that is the back line and Jones and rojo get nowhere near it, smalling and Bailly as back up.
I think maguire will surprise us and as Ed alludes to Bruno for me is a must next.

3.) 15 Jul 2019 12:05:05
Ed 004, just to touch on set pieces, not too long ago we had Zlatan and Fellaini and when those were in play with Pogba and Smalling we should have been a massive aerial threat.

{Ed004's Note - But we havent had a top class set piece taker for a few years now}

I would just like to hear everyone's opinion. With the list provided by Ed002 of in's/ outs of players at United, what do you guys think the best and realistic starting lineup would be for next season?

Utd_7

1.) 25 Apr 2019 18:47:59
No idea mate.
If we finish top 4 it could be a different approach. It really is anyone's guess.
We could well get stuck with players we would prefer to move on so that will have any impact.
Im really looking forward to seeing what transpires between end of the season and the window closing.
We all have different opinions on players we would like to see leave and come in.
I don't kike martial as a player but who is to say if we buy 3 players that he clicks with that he won't become what some think he can.
Ole knows who he wants to keep and will find out soon enough won he has to keep and who he can bring in.

2.) 25 Apr 2019 18:48:32
Some positions are hard to guess at the moment.

In goal, maybe Romero or a new player. I would love Oblak but cannot count on it.

Back four, I will guess Shaw, Lindelof, a new center back, and Wan-Bissaka at right back. Hard to guess who that new center back will be. Hopefully not Smalling or Jones still starting. Any of Koulibaly, Milenkovic, Manolas all would be a major upgrade. And Dalot to get plenty of minutes on either flank.

The midfield is a major problem. Pogba and Herrera look likely to be gone, and Matic is slowing down. Maybe Ole will go with two defensive midfielders, with McTominay as one of them. We have heard many names, but hard to guess who is realistic. I would love Ndombele and Bruno Fernandes as the #10.

Up front, we still could have Martial, Rashford, and Lingard. Maybe Lukaku will go to Italy. Mata should go where he can get more minutes, and hopefully Sanchez can be moved on somehow. Greenwood should come into the rotation, even Chong perhaps, but the real need is a proven goalscorer.

So as of now, it seems really hard to answer your question. Next year looks very difficult already, with all the changes required.

3.) 25 Apr 2019 19:42:39
Based off of ed002s list i think the window could look like:

Pogba out - bruno fernandes in
Darmian out - Meunier in
Rojo out - Milenkovic in
Herrera out - saul in
Mata out - zaha in
Sanchez out (loan) - no need for a replacement as there is nothing from a footballing perspective to replace.

4.) 25 Apr 2019 19:58:53
finish out of the top 4 i would expect more investment in the squad. but i just can't imagine Ed Woodward negotiating so many transfers.

5.) 25 Apr 2019 20:33:20
DSG, I'd be more than happy with that.

6.) 25 Apr 2019 23:41:34
DSG, I like your list, except I hope to see Wan Bissaka at right back.

7.) 26 Apr 2019 07:45:11
Ok for my tuppence worth, if we are hypothetically talking a squad reset assuming that DDG, Pogba and Herrera leave.

DDG out - Romero in house - deserves a year to see if he can be no1. Buy in jan if not claiming the no1. (Saves spending on a replacement this year)
Darmian out - AWB (40m) ideally, Meunier (to allow Dalot time) if not AWB
Rojo out - Milenkovic (35m) in good cost effective option
Bailly out - Manolas (36m release clause) in further strengthening CB ( Lindelof, Milenkovic, Manolas, Tuanzebe-it’s time to find out)
Herrera out - Saul (85m) in (best MF available)
Pogba out - Neves (60m) in (Rice (50m) if the budget won’t stretch to Neves
Mata out (sorry Juan) - Bruno Fernandes (50m) in
Sanchez out - Hirving Lozano (38m) in
Approx 333-343m spend with a budget of 250m plus around 100m for Pogba and a combined 20 from selling lesser players should be achievable. Admittedly 2 CB’s is asking a bit much, but I think necessary, I would settle for Milenkovic first to drop the spend down to around a more realistic (if that word can be used) 300m

The ideals. We would all love Sancho but Dortmund won’t let him go even for a reasonable price. We would all love Koulibaly but again too expensive with the needs we have. De Ligt could be the possible leader we need but he will most likely go to Barcelona. Joao Felix - very expensive, very young and un proven. Zaha looks to be going elsewhere as do Bergwijn and Hernandez.

Does anyone know when pre season starts and who will we be playing against?

Utd_7

1.) 27 Jun 2016 11:37:26
We play Dortmund and City on July 22nd and 25th, a Rooney testimonial v Everton then the community shield v Leicester, all there is as far as I know.

2.) 27 Jun 2016 11:50:00
Tour of china?

3.) 27 Jun 2016 12:30:19
Dortmund and City are on that tour Mort.

Hey eds I was wondering if any of you know if there's any interest for James Rodriguez from anyone. I've read a few reports that he's unhappy at Real Madrid and that apperantly he wants out, just wondering if any of this is true. Thanks in advanced and a Merry Christmas to all!

Utd_7

{Ed002's Note - Try the Real Madrid page.}

@ed001 what do you think will happen with Pogba this summer? Do you think he’ll ever come good at United or do you think he should just be leave?

Utd_7

{Ed001's Note - I don't think anyone can afford him at the moment, so he will end up staying. He probably should be moved on though the hitting on the break system does suit his way of playing, so it is only because he is unhappy that it is better to get rid.}
