Hi eds, everyone,

Ed002, is a bid for Vidal still expected? Also do we have anymore serious midfield targets if nothing comes of this Vidal situation?

Cheers

TQred

{Ed002's Note - A bid is expected to be made.}

Ed, could you please give us a update on the Luke shaw situation. If there is anything to update that is. Also, is do you know of any interest in midfielders that we actually have a realistic chance of buying?

Thanks in advance

TQred

{Ed004's Note - There is no updates on Luke Shaw the club will be trying to negotiations an acceptable fee which I reckon they will. Can't think of any midfielders of top of my head ATM}

1.) Thanks ed. I would've thought there'd be a lot more going on in a attempt to get deals done before the World Cup, but it all seems a little quiet

Hey everyone and Eds. If any of the Eds are about could you please give us an update on shaw. Also, what does every one think of song to utd?

TQred

{Ed002's Note - There was interest in Shaw from Chelsea but not at the price Southampton previously quoted Chelsea. Chelsea has spoken with Southampton about a player going in part-exchange but the price remains unpalatable still and Chelsea have moved their interest elsewhere. Interest from Manchester United remains, but they will look to negotiate a lower fee.}

1.) I'd much rather have Rodriguez, the more I watch him the better be gets

2.) Dont rate song, never have, must do something well though otherwise wenger wouldn't have played him and barca wouldn't have signed him, if someone finds out what it is that he does please let me know, I just see a defensive midfielder whos out of position all the time.

3.) Thanks for the reply. Do you expect a deal to be agreed?

{Ed002's Note - I don't really do expectations.}

Hey everyone, quick question for anyone. I'm not too familiar with Rojo apart from what I saw at the World Cup, but isn't he a LB or would LVG be looking to deploy him as a LCB?

Cheers in advance

TQred

1.) I'd only seen him play LB at the world cup but there's a 12min video on youtube, a lot of it showing him defending. He was playing CB in a lot of the games and noticeably the LCB in a 3 man defence. He looks really good at CB, strong, good in the air, quick and very comfortable on the ball.

2.) He is actually a centre back by trade, but is also quick and a good passer so has been played at LB by teams who don't have a great LB to play instead such as Argentina at the world cup.

But it is this flexibility that will make him perfect for the LCB role which is essentially a blend between the roles of CB and fullback. Which he is. There are a few rough edges that will require smoothing out such as his occasional poor decisions. But we are buying a player who isn't the finished article so that is to be expected.

3.) The great thing is that he is equally good at LB and CB. Playing left center back will require the player to sometimes be dragged wide with the right center back and sweeper center back being pulled in a bit and a midfielder dropping in as well. He will be more than comfortable doing that.

4.) From what I have seen (limited I grant you) I think he will be a step up as LCB as well as cover for LWB. However as he is being seen as another for the future (but first team starter now) I think we are crying out for a solid mature head in the centre of the 3. Question is if we can't get the big time players (Benatia/Hummels) would someone like Vlaar who is towards the 30yr bracket with a view to this year only be worth a punt. Also, in hindesight should we have kept Rio, if fit this back 3 sweeper role allowing the other 2 to cover the ground seems to be right up his street?

5.) Thanks for the update guys. Sounds like just what we need

I'm forever reading about the possibility of these swap deals or player plus cash deals. Just curious, how many of these kinda deals go on between top teams as I can't recall any

TQred

1.) 08 Aug 2014 12:32:37
Last well known one I can remember was Samuel Eto'o plus about £30million for Zlatan.

2.) It's a lot more common in Italy than anywhere else. In the past twenty years Inter have swapped Cannavaro for Fabian Carini, Pirlo for Andres Guglielminpietro and cash, Francesco Coco for Seedorf and Ivan Zamorano and cash for Roberto Carlos.

They aren't too clever when it comes to swapping their players!

3.) Probably why serie a is in the gutter

4.) TQ, Is that you Jase? Still rapping?

5.) TQred; The demise of Serie A is down to the rise of other leagues as much as anything. As the Premier League and La Liga become more desirable it becomes difficult for Italian clubs to attract and hold onto top players. This decreases the amount broadcasters are willing to pay for television rights and in turn the amount the clubs receive. Having less money makes it even harder to compete with clubs from other leagues when it comes to wages and transfer fees. Then there's also the whole match fixing scandal which hit the integrity of the league pretty hard as well.

It's a shame really considering how good the Milan team of the 90's was.

6.) No, not jase syd

7.) I've met a lad based in Torquay, he was initially from Manchester.

I'm probably going to sound really stupid now, but 002 or anyone else who may know, could you please explain what an institutional owner is?

Cheers

TQred

{Ed002's Note - A corporation such as an insurance company from China. People who are looking for a medium risk but high return on their money - or low risk nut medium return.}

1.) Thanks for clearing that up 002

2.) Ed. Would the likes of Adidas come under this bracket? Wouldn't it make sense for Adidas to buy the club in 3 years time as their paying out millions anyway?.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained before about such matters and don't want to get into it again. It won't be an option when the club is sold.}

Has anyone created a league for the sun World Cup dream team yet?

Cheers

Opinions please.

This is obviously a very important transfer window for us.And so far we have nothing to show. There is no doubt however that people at the club are working very hard to bring people in. What I want to ask is.

1)Are we taking a big gamble(like last year) chasing unrealistic targets while the achievable ones are actually ready to come right now? We've supposedly put players like carvalho on the back burner, while chasing kroos, bastian, cesc and other players who are just not going to come. Yes, carvalho is a different player(a DM) but a much more achievable one. What could happen in the near future is that some rich russian club or monaco or whoever will come in and buy him. Something like witsel. And in the end we'll be left with the fellaini like players. Its not just carvalho. There may be other players we can get for our midfield who are not "A listers" and yet will improve us massively.Players like konoplynka are available for 12 million. Now whether he wants to come here or not is a different thing, but the club should at least try their best to get him, instead of chasing robben, sanchez and di maria.

2)the luke shaw case
Could it be that the delay is that he is waiting for chelsea to commit to someone else? And if chelsea actually refused to match southampton's evaluation then kudos to them. And we should follow suit. He's a wonderful LB with immense potential. But he's not the only left back in the world. Do we even have a backup plan? Shouldnt we be looking at rodrigues, kurgawa and moreno too?

3)which youngsters do you see stepping up next season if you had to pick 3?Mine would be wilson, perriera and lawrence.

2.) The delay is simple lads, we haven't offered Southampton an acceptable amount for Shaw. MU could sign him tomorrow if they wanted. But it will be a larger fee than we are offering now.

3.) TQred - I have mate.

Could someone please remind me of the price quoted to Chelsea for shaw in jan. Thanks in advance

All the talk of 30 million is apparently false according to editor from what I remember, so I'm guessing a but more

I heard a whisper about this time last year. It told me to act as a club official, fly to Spain and sign Herrera

Why is it wrong? Sky won't normally report it unless they a certain it's true

TQred

{Ed002's Note - Sky will report things that they believe to be correct, but it doesn't mean that they are.

After 16 hours in the air, I understand that a Caproni CA3 carrying Benatia is soon to land in a field at Durnham Forest Golf and Country Club where he will be whisked away by the club for a secret medical. You have to say it sounds plausible? But don't tell Sky.

I can here faint voices - "Sommes nous encore là?", "Sommes nous encore là?"}

002 has explained the Vidal situation numerous times. If I remember correctly the other teams where real, Munich and maybe barca.

I think shappy has done a really good diamond formation style team on the formation page. With another good cb and a dm I think that would be perfect for us. Hopefully we can get all our new signings playing together soon. When fully fit, we've actually got a really strong team
