Mario Mandzukic. we are really pushing the boat out aren't we. What a joke, we let 26 year old prolific goal scorer leave and bag 73 million pounds and replace him with a 33 year old Croatian who managed 9 goals all season in a crap league. Wonderful business!

Have you ever seen him play? He would be a really good signing, presses extremely well from the front, would be happy to be a back up and wouldn’t cost a fortune. I know it’s the cool thing to just slag everything off the club does seemingly, but if you don’t know much about the player maybe ask instead of googling goal stats and talking nonsense.

2.) 08 Aug 2019 10:50:57
He will suit our tactics a different option to martial and rashy.
If signed I think he can be a shrewd signing.

3.) 08 Aug 2019 11:00:46
GDS2.I watch Italian football all time. Just because you think he's a good signing then everybody else has to agree? It's a pathetic signing, a last ditch buy because we have left it to late yet again. It's poor by United again, they knew the Lukaku signing was going to go through and they should of had something in place. Are you telling me that the plan was always to buy Mario Mandzukic. I think not.

4.) 08 Aug 2019 11:00:51
Be a good signing as the two above have said. Something different and can head the ball unlike the current strikers!

5.) 08 Aug 2019 11:01:43
GDS2

Stop acting like a saint. Is Mandzukic young and hungry like you guys have been buzzing about? Will he push us to title? Is signing him building united team for long term? The way you and other fans are getting less ambitious is depressing. Just keep on wishing for us to get in CL like average club.

We addressed defense after years and you seem to be happy with it. I guess if we strengthen our midfield after 5 years, it will be enough for you to be satisfied.

There are problems in the team and don't act like we dont.

6.) 08 Aug 2019 11:05:36
Although, I would be against the idea of Mandzukic because of his age, I wouldn't mind him as backup as GDS2 suggests provided we don't overspend.

At this moment with Lukaku seemingly leaving for Inter, we need goals from somewhere if our front line does misfire and Mandzukic would be a safe bet, even though if it is a short fix. It could end up being a shrewd signing and probably get us back into top 4. The most important signing however would be getting in a CM before the deadline.

What would be interesting is if Ole would really want him as it would be against his policy of getting in young, hungry players.

7.) 08 Aug 2019 11:06:14
I agree, if he signs, he will be a very good signing. I have seen him play and still at this age, he is quite a handful for opposition defenders. Someone who has that thing to always get the better off defenders.

8.) 08 Aug 2019 11:12:49
He played and scored in a world cup final last year. He's going to be a very good player to have in our squad. Works very hard, is a threat in the box, and has a wealth of experience for the young lads in the squad to learn from. I'd be very happy with the signing.

9.) 08 Aug 2019 11:13:30
Gds2 have you watched him, he is 6'3 good. If you get the ball on his head, have we got wingers who can cross the ball, no.
He is 33, another player to play with matic and mata, I've seen him play another average Joe, last season he was on the decline.

10.) 08 Aug 2019 11:01:03
He’d be a fantastic signing.

Everyone here championing our youth players and moaning about a Dybala-type player blocking the rise of Greenwood, Gomes etc. should be ecstatic with Mandzukic - hard working, model professional who has probably got 2 years left in him where he can show our youngsters how to be model professional attacking footballers.

Sign him up!

11.) 08 Aug 2019 11:23:44
:33 yes, cracking experience, big game player, good signing.

Don’t think we will get him mind.

12.) 08 Aug 2019 11:26:22
Been playing a lot of footy on the left side of midfield for juve not really as a striker.
Surprised no one as mentioned this considering how much they watch him.

13.) 08 Aug 2019 11:29:20
Mario Mandzukic is the way forward? Are you kidding?!

14.) 08 Aug 2019 11:31:57
The whole point of Ole coming in was to buy young hungry players that want to play for the club. This guy is 33 years old. Who knows how much we are going to pay him, probably over a 100 thousand pounds a week. It stinks of a last ditch bid to get somebody in.

15.) 08 Aug 2019 11:33:37
I can understand the reasons of some not wanting Mandzukic especially because of his age, but he is not going to be first choice, only a backup and if we can get him for a fair price it would suit all parties. Last season, he scored 10 and assisted 6 in 33 games in all competitions.

I don't think anyone is going to whine if Ole decides to trust the likes of Rashford/ Martial/ Greenwood/ Gomes to come up with the goals and not go ahead with signing Mandzukic.

16.) 08 Aug 2019 14:01:57
About to say the same Jred. i've seen him on the left most of the time for Juve. They say he worked harder than any other winger there and the distance he covered for his age was astonishing.
For 15 mill we have a proven striker, who won't mind sitting in the bench and who can pass on some experience to the younger lads. Reminds me of a Henrik Larsson kind if signing.

If Inter Milan are that desperate to sign Lukaku then why are they putting in an improved offer of 15 million euro's for a 33 year old Edin Dzeko. Surely they could use this money for an improved Lukaku bid.

Simomanc1975

1.) 30 Jul 2019 15:43:30
Huh? Not buying lukaku means they will use that money to spend on other targets.

They haven't got an extra 15 million lying around 😂😂.

2.) 30 Jul 2019 15:48:37
He was probably their backup choice now that Juventus are supposed to be interested in Lukaku.

3.) 30 Jul 2019 16:00:15
It is becasue Inter know that united want to get rid and does not fit in OGS plan as he's not mobile enough with the way we will be playing or trying to play and Rash is the main striker . inter know its just a matter of time before we fold to sell him on the cheap . tactical buying maybe lol if there is such a thing . They also know he wants to kiss conte!

4.) 30 Jul 2019 23:40:01
I think I remember seeing a report early in the window that Conte wanted both Dzeko and Lukaku. Looks like they’ll struggle to do that now.

Few rumours circulating about Nicolas Pepe at the moment. Is there any truth in this?

Simomanc1975

{Ed002's Note - Try searching.}

1.) 23 Jul 2019 11:42:24
There is a detailed update in banter 2 page.

2.) 23 Jul 2019 11:50:30
I'm hearing LFC are confident of completing a deal for him this week.

3.) 23 Jul 2019 11:46:47
Ed002 - I have searched. that's why I have posted it on here.

{Ed002's Note - Try the European pages then - maybe someone deleted the post from yesterday.}

4.) 23 Jul 2019 11:55:11
Most probably Napoli.

5.) 23 Jul 2019 12:58:08
The details are on the Banter 2 page as TrueRed mentioned.

Very insightful piece too ED02.

thank you very much.

you sure your don't want the DOF role at MU?

6.) 23 Jul 2019 13:36:09
ED002 would struggle with the full mundane life in Manchester.

More of a Monaco person if my memory serves me right?

{Ed002's Note - I have lived on and off in Monaco for many years.}

7.) 23 Jul 2019 16:23:08
Can imagine what Ed002’s ryders would be for every board meeting! Seriously though, with all their money, surely United could employ someone with a comprehensive overview of the transfer/ football world like Ed002? And I can’t imagine people at clubs are so insulated that they don’t gossip on WhatsApp groups etc - or at least look at the comments on this site occasionally!

He needs sacking end of. his excuses are becoming more and more desperate. The football is awful, his win percentage is terrible and we are going backwards rapidly.
I was never in favour of him getting the job, just because he won the first 10 games he gets the job, absolutely crazy. The club should of evaluated his position at the end of the season like they said they were going to and in my opinion I think he has lost some of the players in the dressing room.

You would have to part with the best part 100-150 million pounds for Madison and Rice. You always have to pay more for top English players and both of them are top players.

Wow. another 30 year old plus who can't get a game and is after one last massive pay day. Have we not learnt our lesson yet?

He didn't turn us down we pulled the plug on him due to his wage demands and image rights etc. Also if you read about it properly they (Spurs) are still miles apart with Dybala's wage demands and image rights. The only thing that has been agreed is the fee between the two clubs.

We should be concentrating on getting the Maguire and Bruno transfers over the line not the Lukaku / Dybala swap deal.

Harry Maguire is the one that organises the defence not Lindelof.

I think Tuanzebe is better than Lindelof. If we play 4 at the back I would have him in ahead of Lindelof every time. I don't rate Lindelof, he's slow, gets pushed off the ball far to easy and isn't that good in the air.

He probably won't start as Rashford has been declared fit.
