Most recent rumour is that of Saido Mane - premiership proven, abundant pace and creativity and can play up top if needed - thoughts?

My thoughts.

Desperation.

2.) 19 Aug 2015 16:27:58
Mane?! My thoughts are no.

3.) 19 Aug 2015 17:48:58
I like him, could be a gem of a signing.

4.) 19 Aug 2015 20:06:23
I like him too!! Great goals against Chelsea and Arsenal, fastest prem hat trick also. Really really fast too!!!

Saw yesterday that Varela came on in midfield, I wasnt watching the whole game but saw glimpses of him picking up the ball from deep and seemed to have lots of confidence. Do we think Mour has a plan for him there?

I can't see it myself SGG and think it was more about just getting him a run out in the team and working towards match fitness in my opinion. It will be interesting to see how jose utilises varela though as he is not of a typical build like wing backs that he has used before. In my opinion mourinho likes his wing backs to provide width when attacking but also be able to cover central areas when the centre backs get pulled out wide and he requires them usually to have the height to win headers when the ball gets crossed from the defenders opposite flank. That said only time will tell though.

2.) 17 Jul 2016 12:17:19
He had lots of space, and as Jose said, anybody with time can pick out a ball.
I kind of felt, he was given minutes in the first team than being played there for a reason.
The later substitutions of Varela and Blackett almost felt like they are playing so that they could be sold.

3.) 17 Jul 2016 13:06:15
I agree with you chaps, he did have plenty of time to play. He could be a decent back up option and played well when he got his chance last season, maybe Jose can tighten him up defensively and he can bomb up and down the right to give us width.

Saying that, I think Jose has to be tough on his squad building so we may well see the end of him this summer.

4.) 17 Jul 2016 13:15:00
They're both on the transfer list!

I know the media are absolutely milking this change of manager, but it is nice to know we are still the biggest club in England. Great to have some positivity on here my friends.

Mourinho to PSG, would he really be satisfied in a one horse league?

Cmon Jose, give yourself a challenge!

With people discussing the core of the team and who they would want I noticed a few people including myself talking about Veratti.

Would he want the move? I always assumed he was Pirlos heir at Juve - maybe they will move this summer but who knows. I would love him at United, he is the closest thing to Scholes I have seen and would suit the Prem perfectly. Boundless energy, superb passing range and probably slightly better in the tackle than Scholes was.

{Ed001's Note - he just signed a new contract.}

1.) 15 Feb 2016 12:04:37
SGG, he is my favourite midfielder in world football at the moment, I've wanted us to sign him for the last 2 years.
Ed002 has said he wanted a move home to Italy or Spain and was not wanting to move to the UK, although Chelsea was muted as a potential move and there were discussions between Chelsea and psg at one point.
Ed001 is correct he has signed anew contract but the feeling is that this will allow psg to cash at a maximum value and a sale is possible this summer but it more than highly unlikely that he will come to Manchester united unfortunately.
I think ed002 also said he was offered to juve as part of a deal for pogba but juve declined as they wanted to control the transfer of pogba without any such conditions.

Cue manchester united rumours meltdown. Upset but its not the doom that everyones been going on about.

He will soon realise how tough the Premiership is, we just need to ensure we make the right decisions from now on to stay competitive.

Good decisions are a thing of the past with this club.

2.) 01 Feb 2016 13:48:01
My thoughts exactly, FZZ.

Our win percentage this year is 42%. We would need something like a 70% win ratio for the rest of the season to realistically get top 4. It is not going to happen. Not with LVG in charge.

I can believe it has got to this stage.

3.) 01 Feb 2016 14:24:56
"I can't" I was meant to say.

Just to add to those stats: if we persist with our current form from the last 12 league games, we could potentially end up finishing 11th in the league; maybe lower.

It is a highly frustrating situation all round. I for the life of me cannot understand what is going on behind the scenes. It seems that there is no cohesion with regards to making key decisions; just dithering.

4.) 01 Feb 2016 21:06:56
Sgg, it's not all doom and gloom? City have the better squad, prospects and now the best manager in the world and owners that are willing to back the club and invest in its long term success, while we have owners with one track mind and that is making money. We have chief executive who makes only the wrong decisions and seems to continue doing so without any opposition. We have a team that is average at best. A manager who one week tells us he'll walk any time he wants and the next week tells us he'll never walk away. Football brand that is worst in the league apart from Villa. A club that can't seem to attract the best players or maybe they're just not interested.
And yet, you're saying it's not all doom and gloom, suppose we can just about stay in the PL and that's success for some of the fans these days.

Rashford has the ability to play anywhere across a front line and cause carnage, but with the quality around him now he should be allowed to play out wide and run at people to stretch defences.

ScholesGingerGenius

{Ed041's Note - Rashford is a central striker for me.

Agree shane, De Rossi would have been a brilliant replacement and suited the league - Pjanic, as classy as he is, is too similar to Mata in the sense he would get knocked around and has no real burst of acceleration.

Still believe a Veratti/ Scholes type player is what we need so we can push Morgan into the box to box role.

Would he know Pereira well from his time with the Brazil youth squads? Maybe he could have a word.

Boy,

You're right, I used to think he was a model professional but in all honestly he has just milked us this season and turned up for the Euros.

Perhaps it was a bad example but the theory still stands, get the youngsters in and around the first team and force them to develop and thrive by learning.

There is clearly talent there as we seem to do well in the U21 competition every year - they just can't seem to make the step up to the first team although admittedly its the biggest jump in football development terms.

I agree he would be a very good signing, but as Eds said a while ago he signed a new contract, and looks like he would go elsewhere in Europe if he ever became available for transfer.

I would love to see Carrick and Schweiny get hold of one of the youngsters in the youth squad and say right, youve got talent - shadow us, watch us, learn from us and become our Marco Veratti.

Decent player, but 25 million? Shows how much people are overpaying. Will suit Klopps pressing game though he has got an engine on him.
