Afternoon everyone

Just want to share my opinion on Van gaal being given the "green light" to break the world record transfer fee! Before we all get excited let's be realistic. The only players whom would do so are the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, bale etc. whom have all just signed new contracts or recently moved to their respected clubs. IMO I believe that it is just ed Woodward flexing our financial muscle after speculation that we just didn't haven the money to do so! The highest we will bid I think is €60 euro for Vidal! N that's if that even happens which I have on good authority that we will do so! Just a quick opinion post for you all to think about.

RedKez99

1.) If Vidal is €60 then I'll buy him. :-D

2.) There are no available players to break the world transfer record but I am very confident that we will break our own record (not by much, £40m ish) for Vidal, who I think a deal is completed for but is being delayed until early August. Maybe that's what Ed was hinting at.

Ed is just hyping up the club to get some more sponsors and maybe even some players on board

3.) 60 Euro for Vidal :O Surely he will cost more!

4.) I don't think he is referring to buying a £100 million player. He is on about spending in excess of £150, £200 million which would be a record in terms of expenditure over one window.

5.) I know it might seem completely outlandish but shocking transfers like Messi to United can happen in football.

He seems disillusioned at Barca and the arrivals of other stars like Neymar and Suarez could steal his limelight and cause animosity.

Time for a fresh challenge?
Hoe about trying the Premier League and joining Van Gaal's exciting new revolution at a club on a par with Barca, if not even bigger.
Van Gaal also has Barca connections and can speak Spanish. With a sizable Spanish-speaking contingent at United, they would help him to settle.

I haven't even mentioned the commercial appeal of Adidas yet!
He would be the perfect poster boy to front their ground-breaking new deal.
World record kit deal with the world record transfer = a match made in heaven.

To coin their famous slogan: "Impossible is nothing"

6.) Dont think there is anyone available but do think that the figures being quoted regarding vidal and di maria are higher than if man utd were not NEEDING quality to get back to winning ways. This is starting to look a bit like last summers window although we have got 2 signings in the bag but I think the clubs think they can hold us to ransom. Would like to see de vries, de jong, possibly vlaar if a deal could be done(maybe young back to villa) get rid of some of the deadwood and see what happens in january

7.) I think Messi is on his way down Lutzy - Kaka style. Once that yard that sets you apart goes, it hinders so many other facets of your game.

I'd honestly rather Vidal than Messi given the choice at the moment.

8.) Beast, sadly I think you could be right about Messi.
Looks like there could be a deeper issue to explain his demeanour on the pitch these days, is he burnt out?

{Ed007's Note - *cough* Dr Fuentes & Lance Armstrong *cough*

9.) Hes a bit of a knob really stating the fact moneys no object, all prices now double

10.) Messi hasn't been that good for a couple of years now. he struggles massively without Xavi and Iniesta who themselves are massively on the decline.
plus could you see Messi really playing at places suc as QPR, or Stoke, or West Brom

Hi. Any of the eds want to clear up the "Vidal situation" paper after paper and reporter after reporter are putting out that we have more or less signed vidal. But nothing on here or sky sports really? Any substance. There must be? So many outlets can't be wrong surely?

RedKez99

{Ed002's Note - Vidal moved to Juventus after spurning good offers from Bayern Munich and Barcelona. If he were to come up for sale, I understand Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Real Madrid would be interested. Barcelona and Chelsea have moved their interest elsewhere. Manchester United have made an offer of a player (Evra) plus cash but agreement has yet to be reached. Real Madrid may yet propose a player exchange deal but that may not suit Juventus who would like to keep the player and are willing to sacrifice Pogba to do so - but that may no longer be the case. An effort is being made to see if Bayern Munich would like to make an offer, but that is looking unlikely right now.}

1.) Well at least we have confirmed our interest by offering player plus cash. That is one box ticked.

2.) A bid going in is good enough for me, shows we're interested, hope it gets done quickly

3.) 002, are Juve still interested in Nani?

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps.}

4.) Bit of a change of topic, but I wonder how much Bebe is worth now? Still at a good age, Primeira Liga's leading goalscorer, put Markovic's goal record to shame. If we got £4.4m for Buettner, what must he be worth now? £7m? £8m?

5.) Ed,
Are we close to reaching an agreement or are we quite far away?

{Ed002's Note - It is in Stage 17 of the process.}

6.) Oh that's good then aslong as we're passed stage 4 because that stage is a right b@#$ard :)

7.) 002, my sources tell me it's at stage 18 :)

8.) 12 Jul 2014 20:40:36
Thanks for the update Ed002.

So that's why the Evra deal hasn't been finalised, as most media outlets were saying it would probably been confirmed by thursday.

Come on united.

If Woody pulls this signing off i'm sure he would be quite a few on here's new favourite person

9.) Awesome transfer work by Utd if it comes off, first Juve wanna buy Evra. We agree to sell, then Utd say how about we give you Evra and Nani + we will throw you £30 odd million for Vidal. Juve need transfer £££ and they get two players that will do just fine in the Italian league, get this sorted and hopefully some CBs come in. Couldn't even guess who else were going for.

10.) Another 23 stages to go then :(

11.) 12 Jul 2014 20:40:52
Ed002, amazing, thanks very very much for the update!

KingGiggsy

12.) Cheers ed.
And cheers Syd for asking the right question:)
A couple of days ago someone posted that watching the Evra situation will tell us a lot about Vidal seeing as Evra would probably already be a Juve player by know if not for ongoing negotiations about AV.

Just the fact that we ar trying for a deal tells us that we are heading in the right direction and targeting the exact kind of player that's needed.

I think we are in for a treat this window and new season.

Just been speaking with a journo whom is very in the know with united, and said there has been a bid submitted by united tonight however "it isn't a very good move" his words. Now whether that means positional or because of the calibre of player. He said he will let me know a bit later on whom it is so I will keep every one updated. I've heard little whispers about Moreno the Crewe youngster! But as I say I will let u know!

RedKez99

1.) Crewe don't have a youngster called Moreno. Have they?

2.) I'm not aware of a Moreno at Crewe either. There's a young centre back called Jon Moran, but I haven't seen anything linking him with United.

3.) The source of this rumour seems to be a guy on twitter. Not only do Crewe not have a player called Moreno - but this guy has also 'confirmed' that we've put in about 20 bids for players over the past two days including Kroos (X2), Draxler, Konoplyanka, Koke, Shaw, Mangela, etc. Impossible to believe anything on Twitter.

4.) There are rumours about a bid being made for FC Porto's Nicolas Otamendi.

5.) Apparently we have put a bid of 12.5m for fc Porto's Nicolas Otamendi, who at 25 is at his peak.

6.) Central defender Otamendi

7.) I think the player you mean is -
José Manuel Flores Moreno?

He is more commonly known as Chico Flores - but plays for Swansea

Hope that helps

BRF

8.) Townsend? But apparently he isn't interested?

9.) Andy townsend much too busy with his football punditry

10.) Redseven, that bloke is pathetic on Twitter. He calls his tweets world exclusives and they pop up ten minutes after they have been reported elsewhere. Other tweets are just pure fabrication. The guy is a plum, but the followers are probably just as bad for believing him.

11.) The moreno united have been linked to, is alberto moreno he is sevilla's left back

I wasn't going to post this but I thought it may be worth while. I have been speaking to a "mate" whom works for Chevrolet EU! Now apparently and you can shoot me down in flames the reason for mata not being offered the number 7 shirt was because Chevrolet are willing to fund the transfer of. yes you guessed it. ronaldo back to united during the summer when they take over as the official shirt sponser! . I like many of you will say naaaaaaa never going to happen. then two things were thrown my way. one my "mate" said that during last summer u may remember united wanting to bring forward the sponsorship for ronaldo to return. which didn't happen and so the transfer didn't happen. secondly I was sent a picture by him. a mock up of a advertisement. That states CR7 with the Chevrolet badge copyright 2014 which if proof is needed and u guys tell me how to show u I can provide. Take this how u will but maybe. just maybe.

RedKez99

1.) May be it could be true but if we don't get top 4 which at the minute is 50-50 then I don't think there is a chance he will come back

2.) Dont want him back, too much money and too old. leave it be and get someone else.

3.) Ronaldo too old, heard it all now. He's not even 30.
I don't believe it but would be over the moon like 99.99% of other United fans if it happened.

4.) RedKez,

Post the image on the Manchester United Sightings tab

5.) Why would Chevrolet sanction spending £150m+ on getting Ronaldo to play for United, the guy who signed the shirt deal was fired by Chevrolet soon after for spending so much money. Surely if Chevrelot want Ronaldo to be their brand ambassador then pay him £10m up front and make a few posters, lot cheaper.

6.) Put it on the sightings page mate, I however doubt this in any shape or form.

7.) Hope this is correct redkez, can't see it personally but props for putting yourself out there. Annoys me when people are borderline abusive to someone sharing a rumour on a rumours page. I think he'll return but it'll be in the twilight of his career. As for Ronaldo being "to old" he's the best player in the world, and in his prime.

8.) Would love it, although it is unlikely. You do wonder what special player the number 7 is being held for though? If Madrid can with the CL and Ronaldo has just won the Balon d'Or he may feel that he has achieved everything that he can and wants to come back. Calderon has said that he will be back in England soon.

9.) If this were true then we have just missed the perfect time to grab him and it would have cost a maximum of £86m. I think this ship has sailed sadly, perhaps when he's in his 30's he will return?

10.) Quite clearly Ronaldo has moved on, why can't we? IF he returned then it's going to push another player out that couldcoming to his prime while Ronaldo would be in his 30's as he isn't coming back anytime soon.
People really clutch at straws and that sligh glimmer of light.
£80 odd million for Ronaldo or people like Reus, Vidal, Gundogan etc that would easily strengthen the side for years to come.

11.) The only time Ronaldo goes on about coming back is when a new contract is in the offing maybe he wants a new one year extension to last years contract

12.) Chevrolet are making a Corvette CR7, but the whole rumour about the Ronaldo connection already did the rounds about a year ago.

13.) Have to agree with pardoe on this one. Ronaldo just uses United's name when he needs a better contract.

14.) RedKez, I don't doubt we were interested last summer but I think that boat has sailed for at least a few years.

bt sport commentator on the arsenal coventry game just saying DM is in germany at the Bayern game, who's he watching. dante. Herrmman? who knows hopefully someone else that is going to make another statement

RedKez99

1.) Hopefully Schweinsteiger.

2.) He could just be there to watch the match. But IMHO its Dante

3.) Old news. Heard that he'd be over there at the start of the week. The talk then was that he wanted to have a look at Patrick Herrmann.

4.) He's on holiday of course.

5.) Ed 2 hints it's xhaka

6.) Couldn't it be to check out Toni Kroos?
With just 18 months remaining on his contract, Bayern and his representatives are yet to reach an agreement.

7.) Picture of Moyes with Kroos and Reus's agent. Hope its Reus, Kroos, a good player, is similar but much worse than Mata.

Any of the eds about I know it's a busy day but we're all wondering. Is there any chance of bringing in a CM or CB today. Sky sports saying after Falcao that's it for this window?

RedKez99

{Ed002's Note - The club had the chance with Carvalho but did not push before the weekend. Teams are closing up shop as they cannot replace players in the time available. See what happens.}

1.) We've had all summer to strengthen our biggest weakness: defence. Phil Jones is going to be a busy lad. Our defence will get moidered by the likes of Chelsea and City.

2.) With all this attacking talent, I think one of those midfield spots may be handed to Rooney or Di Maria. there's only room for one Deeper MF if that is the case. We have that man already - Herrera!

We might even see the manager go to 2 centre backs instead of three, in which case we are not quite as bad off depending how good Rojo turns out to be.

Jones/Rojo CB pairing. Iv been imressed with Jones so far this season. At 22 he isn't as much a risk as Smalling, who is in danger of going off the boil at 24.

24 seems to be a dangerous age for United "prospects." Some like Flectcher overcame that barrier. Others like Nani, Cleverly, Anderson etc. have come unstuck around that period.

Although his growth has not been rapid by any means, Jones may be clear of his teething period by the time he reaches 24. If he is it will be a bonus to both the player and United.

just a few things regarding transfers and my opinions on them, I personally think we will miss out on all of our "targets" but here it is for what its worth, let's get the silly ones out the way first of all, the first one will shock you all as it did me

Luis Suarez - Heard this today in numerous papers, all over twitter and other sources, now apparently we will be putting in a £65m bid. firstly, before anything else, liverpool will just not sell to us, secondly, suarez was going to leave liverpool because of champions league football so with us having absolutely no european football this as no substance imo. and was hardly worth mentioning. european football or lack of I fear is the substance to us missing out on all the "world beating targets"

Toni Kroos - United were very obviously interested and it is clear that talks were on going however the guy is obsessed with money and LVG is a manager similar to SAF where as he won't be dictated by any players wage demands. I feel he would have been a great addition BUT for me best left where it is now, nowhere.

Cesc Fabregas - Last years attempt was clearly on deaf ears as he didn't want to leave barca, now he's being "forced" out of the catalan giants it seems now we are actually front runners, Three bids from english clubs with us bidding the highest as things stand with £35m allegedly. will we get him? not by p;ayers choice I would imagine, I think the only way we stand a chance of him becoming a red is if barca accept our bid and refuse to accept nothing lower, leaving CF with no choice.

Memphis Depay - the first of the list we stand a chance, very skilful and quick player which we lacked last year. a real talent and not a lot of money really when you consider ability and age. player clearly wants the move and PSV open to the offer. My bet on first signing of the summer is this guy given the link between him and LVG.

Bruno Martins Indi - Another very real possibility with the link between him and LVG, however I see him as a third choice target behind mangala and hummles. but if you ask me not a bad third choice at all.

Atouro Vidal - unlikely with madrid sniffing around, madrid always get their man and their is a very real interest in this guy from them so I think enough as been said their.

Marco Reus - i'm 50/50 on this one, although I think it is possible and the player would be open to the move I think once again our failure to qualify for the UCL will be once again our down fall.

Mat Hummles - very real possibility at CB. I think Mats Hummles and phil jones/chris smelling at CB would be enough to keep us going next season and have us back up there.

Luke Shaw - I think personally this is a done deal which is why it has gone quiet. Nothing from chelsea or man city nor any other team that were after him, I think they have been told he now a manchester united player come july 1st.

Jordy Classie - Absolute talent when it comes to a CM role and also a very real possibility for us, I have watched this guy time and time again, he reminds me of a Paul Scholes, Xavi when they were in their prime. for me a better player than Toni Kroos just under rated due to the country he currently plays in, same applies to Depay. i'd say evens on this one.

Andres Iniesta - now I know we have made contact to Barca for this guy and whilst we are at it I will add into the equation Alexis Sanchez, that is 3 barca players that we have made contact about.i don't need to talk about any of them but if I had to put my money on it that any of them would come, I would go Alexis Sanchez although he is rather expensive and possibly not all that much better than Depay.

Ronaldo - he's coming home! 100% he is coming home. at least in the next few years anyway. no way will he return now but one day he will, I think we all know that, but when? who knows.

i know I have missed a lot of players off this list but I thought I would talk about this few because they seem to be the most talked about. i'm not in the know in the slightest but I believe I am a realist and have sources from different parts of the game that are in the know. let's just see if I'm right lol

RedKez99

1.) I would be very happy with any of the players' you mentioned.

The club will bring in quality. I am pretty confident of that.
I just wish they would announce a few signings to get us all excited.

2.) These ''links'' you talk of are simply van Gaal managing the national team. If Roy Hodgson had of taken the job would we be getting Wilshere? Or Lallana? No we would not. The fact you think Clasie is a better player than Toni Kroos says it all. that you are reading too many papers and internet sites. Why do you think Hummels is a very real possibility? If he becomes available Barcelona will be top of the list of his potential suitors. Also, Sanchez not all that much better than Depay? Come on mate. one of the most competitive La Liga's in recent years and he still managed 31 goals and assists in 34 appearances.

You talk as if you know the club, the players, the management personally. I sincerely hope this is a poor attempt at banter!

3.) Have a hard time seeing the likes of Fabregas, Reus, and Hummels join without CL football. I rate Classie and would love to see him join. Hopefully we have made progress with Shaw but I'm not convinced a deal is done. Not sure why you're so confident of Ronaldo coming back to OT, I think there's no chance personally.

4.) Great post. I enjoyed reading this.

5.) Yaya and aguero signed for city without champions league. Money talks so we may have to make them offers they can't refuse to get the big names. Personally I would sign more less well known players with maybe one or two big names I think some of the players that are well known don't deserve theee reputation as top players.

{Ed002's Note - It is not as simple as that with FFP.}

Just out of interest what would everyone's preferred result be in the Everton arsenal game to gives us the best chance of a higher placed finish. I'm undecided whether a draw would be better to still hope for 4th or an arsenal win for 5th considering we still have to go to goodison!

As a foot note I really hope we look at Ross Barkley in the summer.

RedKez99

1.) Even if we win the remaining games I can't see us finishing above 6th place so I've no interest.

2.) Everton win for me :)

3.) Prefer Everton to win as Arsenal have won the 4th place cup too often
Everton when we play them will provide us with far more of a challenge than Newcastle did

4.) Carloto,

What a terrible attitude, we have to be there or thereabouts if arsenal or Everton or both let us in. If we beat Everton and arsenal don't win their next 2 games we will have a chance, it's very unlikely don't get me wrong but we can't give up, winning the last 6 games would be great going into next season, and shutting the Everton fans up would be great in a couple of weeks.

5.) Interesting result, it keeps our hopes alive for 4th place. If we win at Goodison, it would make it very interesting. Need arsenal to drop some more points :)

6.) Why is the fact that I have no interest in the Everton Arsenal game showing a terrible attitude? I believe we can win every game remaining but don't believe those above will drop enough points for us to overtake them. It's called realism.

7.) Carloto, you'll get used to gds, he's like the opinion police on here as his is the only opinion that counts, his other job is defending sydney to the death not that he needs defending.

8.) Youse ain't catching us.we will destroy your deams at goodison soon

9.) I love it should get fantastic odds on us against the you lot.

10.) Midfield general

He's not the police, he's a regular respected poster, something you should perhaps aspire to.

11.) God, you won't get better odds than I got when we won at your ground

12.) Oh I am so upset now and that really hurt and very original. LOL

The manchester teams will put an end to any scouse uprising I say LOL.

{Ed025's Note - joining forces with the noisy neighbours now GCU?..oh how things have slipped.. :)

13.) Midfield general,

You got a personal problem or something? Read all my posts, I assume me agreeing with Sydney a couple of times in 4 years is me 'defending him to the death'. I don't think this post said my opinion was the only one that matters, I think that the attitude of thinking we don't stand a chance is a rubbish one, it was hardly offensive.

Thanks AJH for 'defending me to the death' much appreciated young sir ;)

14.) Ed025

Desperate times calls for desperate measures LOL. The post was really about the red half.

I am okay with the blue half although some of your fans need to settle down and have to stop trolling this page.

For some reason your lot suddenly think they are a rival for us, which is a ludicrous thought and there seems to be resentment about the managers move and us bidding for one players from your team, which is quite childish.

The size of the 2 clubs are like David and Goliath and one good season by you guys and one bad one for us does not make us rivals or put us on par. Order will be restored next year, I guarantee you that or maybe even this year. beware of United as they say :)

Teams like Villareal, Getafe, Real Sociadad, Real Betis also had the occasional great seasons but that does not make them on par with RM or Barca.

{Ed025's Note - you are right GCU, there are no comparisons between the two sides, the fact is...we are far superior!..and while it may be only temporary, we will enjoy every minute of it mate..

15.) Ed025

LOL, I preferred you when you were giving the pool and arsenal fans some stick.

{Ed025's Note - no one is immune to a bit of stick GCU, I just defend my clubs corner mate, I'm sure you lot will be back shortly, but you know what they say... Never give up the opportunity of kicking someone when they are down.. :)

Just a note on last nights game at arsenal, I don't think it was a bad result tbh, nice to see Fellaini back on the bench and getting fit, hopefully him in his self can be like a new signing when he regains full fitness and sort out our some of our central issues, people slate him but I just don't think he's had a real run, which he needs. but my main reason for this post is Tom Cleverly, now I'm not a big fan, far from it and I have said he is certainly not united standard. but how well did he play last night, he cut out a lot of passes, he got stuck in and played very well in that central role, I mean his approach play and creativity still leaves a lot too be desired but as a defensive point of view I think he played his best game this season last night

RedKez99

1.) He did have a good games but still dithers. Still room for improvement I.e playing the ball back in the dying minutes of the arsenal game instead of going forward. He could become a good squad player and the fact that he is homegrown means he will be around for at least another two seasons or so.

2.) I agree about Fellaini and Cleverley. Cleverley isn't a great player but I have to say he did a very good job for us last night. He gets slated enough by everyone so he should get some credit when its due too.

3.) 13 Feb 2014 19:03:22
Just heard the bitters are extending wastelands. Is the sheik going to give tickets away. What a joke they can't fill it now

4.) Quite ironic you calling them bitter. As a Mancunian I welcome City's investment in the city of Manchester.

29 Jan 2014 20:49:23
Kroos just got subbed on the hour mark tonight and threw a tantrum. If I was moyes. With his contract talks stalling. And the fact he is clearly not happy at bayern I'd take advantage. We've not had a good midfield since giggs. Scholes. Beckham and Keane IMO!

RedKez99

1.) Come on Davey.get the contacts out tonight and put in a big bid (I don't mind if we pay over the odds he is quality).

! This is one of the funniest rumours I've heard. Number 1 he isn't up to united standard by miles and secondly he is hulls most key central midfielder! If it happens I'll eat my hat but I'm fairly sure my hat will stay put firmly on top of my head

Sorry my friend what u have just said there is basically Carrick and fletch would be more then capable to carry on and win us things over the three above players I have just stated. Please use your mind before commenting. We can accommodate them yes! Ando is on way out. There is no guarantee fletcher will stay fit and fellaini is out injured for god knows how much longer. Carrick well. he would be perfect for a back up now days. Pogba, Vidal, fellaini and matuidi being rotated in the centre of the park is more than likely!

Toni Kroos with to a shadow, he's sting, a great creative midfielder but with a high defensive work rate. he's skill full and if anyone is worries about if he can hack it in the premier league, he ripped man city apart in the champions league. so kroos for me

What united need are a solid CB, a quick and levelled LB, a solid box to box player and a creative central attacker (like mata) so yes i'd say mata will be a great signing if it goes through.

RedKez99
