Gueye would be a good matic replacement

He has a great engine too.

1.) 04 Mar 2019 05:10:38
His ability on the ball is just like McTominay. Can't pass forward.
Not united quality imo.

2.) 04 Mar 2019 06:59:13
It depends on what you want from a defensive/ holding midfielder. Do you want someone to just break up play then make a simple pass or do you want someone who can create from deep and control the tempo of a game?

I think at the top level you need someone who can create and control the tempo as you shouldn't have to worry too much about breaking up the opposition as you should have the ball and control of the game most of the time. In which case a player like Gueye would be a passenger 90% of the time as he can't contribute to the offensive side of the game.

3.) 04 Mar 2019 08:08:07
Gueye is decent but shappy is right. If we want to compete with the best I think we need a ball playing defensive midfielder. Basically we have never replaced Carrick. We need to improve our build up play from the back, especially against the big sides. We have lindelof already and someone like koulibaly next to him would improve that. Then a neves would be a fantastic addition.

4.) 04 Mar 2019 09:18:19
Park; I think Matic replaced Carrick even if for a short term.

5.) 04 Mar 2019 09:33:32
Gueye is bang average. No better than some of our deadwood. We need top drawer signings not another average squad player.

6.) 04 Mar 2019 14:08:30
That’s a good point mbd. I’m a big fan of matic but we need to rotate him more next year to avoid him burning out.

7.) 04 Mar 2019 19:15:30
McTominay replaces Matic, Gana replaces McTominay.

8.) 05 Mar 2019 06:47:57
As stated above by some already, I think Gueye is quite overrated. He puts up decent to good defensive numbers but is very limited on the ball and not that great in the air. To add to that he is nearing 30 so there isn't that big a chance of improvement so I give a pass.

If we want to sign a Defensive midfielder from the league I think Ndidi at Leicester would be a better choice, younger, a bit better on the ball, better in the air. But do we need just a destroyer type player or a more rounded DM?

9.) 05 Mar 2019 07:38:38
I agree with you Deependra. I think Ndidi is very talented with room to get even better. He's a destroyer in there in the mould of a Kante. I know it's fantasy but Neves beside him spraying the passes and Pogba in front of them is my dream midfield trio for the next few years. Would obviously cost big money but I think signing them two midfielders would be astute business.

1.) 07 Sep 2018 10:06:28
what are you on about?

2.) 07 Sep 2018 10:18:26
The problem is the modern day overpaid pre madonna’s. They believe in their own head that they are world class superstars. How dare anyone criticise them. The worst thing for Utd was France winning the World Cup. Now Pogba thinks he’s Zidane Ronaldo and Messi all rolled into one. Idont think I’ve ever seen him put a real shift in.

3.) 07 Sep 2018 11:49:22
LOL - what is a pre Madonna? Someone who was born before the Queen of Pop?

4.) 07 Sep 2018 20:10:16
Pigs just wants to be placed on a Pedal Stool. To me this whole situation seems like a Damp Squid.

5.) 07 Sep 2018 20:46:34
We should try to sign Madonna. I reckon she'd do a better job than Pogba.

6.) 08 Sep 2018 08:58:12
It's not a rumor!

Looking forward and jose eirher leaves or gets the boot?

Who could take over? Has the mental ability to cope with the club pressures and does not look like a puppet at team interviews.

I don't think Zidane could do it and if push came to shove i would take a punt on Wenger? He would not park the bus and players like him.

Play it forward

{Ed0333's Note - That would be a delicious irony if Wenger took the job.

1.) 21 Aug 2018 06:28:32
Fully expect it to be Zidane or a move for someone like Ancelotti.

2.) 21 Aug 2018 07:17:12
I think we should move on from this list of big names and has beens, I’d give it to Eddie Howe. Young British manager, hungry, wants to play football the right way. And accept it could take 3/ 4 years before we’re challenging the top clubs again.

3.) 21 Aug 2018 07:30:08
I would have welcomed Ancelloti. Experience, nobody's fool. I he also knows when a player needs an arm round the shoulder. Some players now need this. Carrot AND stick. One on its own will give us spoiled brats, the other total demoralisation.
Having said that Ancelloti is probably now thinking of retirement rather than a long term project.

4.) 21 Aug 2018 08:21:48
Ancelotti is at Napoli, meaning De Laurentias, meaning a nightmare.

5.) 21 Aug 2018 08:29:00
Plenty of young head coaches to pick on under a DoF: Jardim, Ole Gunnar, Neville G, Howe, Marcelino, Rangnick, Carrick, Giggs, Poch, Blanc, Zidane.

Larry White just seems an obvious fit for me as he plays to his team’s strengths, has experience of huge egos, and has won trophies.

I’m a big Jose supporter but it’s not working for him here and some people just don’t suit certain clubs. He was always a marriage of convenience but it’s clear we are not getting any better and the players have had enough, let alone the fans like me who are paying to watch this tripe.

6.) 21 Aug 2018 10:21:25
Throw whatever money it takes at Poch.

7.) 21 Aug 2018 10:29:56
Why do people carry on mentioning Howe? He's poor, bloody hell. Will definitely go into a sustained period of mediocrity with him. From Eric's list, Jardim would be the no brainer.

8.) 21 Aug 2018 10:43:01
I'd take wenger for the rest of the season and take some time to pick the new manager and dof for next season.

9.) 21 Aug 2018 11:00:40
I said Wenger weeks ago. Problem is no manager is going to leave a job at this stage of the season to cone here. And of what's unemployed nit much stands out.

10.) 21 Aug 2018 11:31:34
Big Sam's available.

11.) 21 Aug 2018 11:31:42
Wenger would be a massive no from me .
Well past his best.

12.) 21 Aug 2018 17:21:09
Bet he'd be a massive yes for Woodward though.

13.) 21 Aug 2018 18:03:58
Mort
I will be absolutely amazed if Wenger is our next manager.

AW won't be the next Manchester United Manager.}

Not dragging it along but that comment from Panne was totally out of Order and i have looked at his last comments

What is now clear to me is that these members are not here for the sake of banter and discussion with fellow supporters

Their only here to get a sure bet. All panne posts are looking for ed to basically tell him the time of the player signing

It is sickening to think that this goes on and when the get their much needed SURE BET

They go and verbally abuse Ed

Well i have no part in that behaviour as many would agree! We come here as a fan and as a menber for Banter and a laugh

So anyone looking for anything else clear well off.

Times have drastically changed the wonderful game. The day when football was a man's game for now a distant memory. The ladies teams tackle like men and get up and keep playing on where as the men roll round screaming like a bullet has hit them playing like girls.

How long before any tackle is banned and only interceptions are permitted to gain possesion. The day this happens footballers will be ex ballerina'$.

Play it forward

{Ed001's Note - that will never happen, as City are allowed to kick players without any kind of punishment. Just ask Delph, who right at the start of the game jump kicks the ball nearly taking Success's head off and then, when Success just powers through it, he then trips him. At the absolute minimum there should have been a yellow card given, but he didn't even get spoken to by the referee. And Fernandinho and Kompany could castrate someone with a rusty table knife and decapitate random children in the crowd without getting booked. So tackles will only be banned against City to allow them to play this 'great' football....}

If jose leaves before the pudding and honey glazed ham i would take Wenger till the end of season.

His football style is miles better than park the bus jose. AW has a nac for getting great players and let's be honest if he had of kept his best players instead of rubbishty snapping them up and us with RVP

Who knows.

Totally agree with all that GDS2

For large portions of the match we were sloppy, falling over the ball and lacked posistional sense, There seemed to be a lack of understanding amongst the youth players and quite often a simple 1-2 pass would lead to Liverpool regaining possession. i'm sure Bailly won't be too pleased especially after A. P done his job and cleared the ball in our on box. Herrera was terrible probably down to lack of playing time with the youth players but SMcT was caught out every time nearly. In fairness to the lads it was not all doom and gloom and had this been played in England then quite a few of the LFC players would have probably seen red. Sanchez at one staged got blasted by Klaven and no yellow given.

On a good note however Fred seemed right at home ( not too far i know ) but his composure to run towards our box pick up the ball and play out gave me some hope that he will be a good coup for us this season.

Andreas Periera was really good and i hope he stays put this season. I wouldlove to see him play with our strongest 11 as we always say. Players play better when they have good players around them.
