Hi all, Happy Christmas and thanks to the Eds for the great work all year!

In relation to Achraf Hagimi of RM, have Man Utd shown any interest? With Valencia picking up his knock and Darmian being heavily linked with a return to Italy surely RB is an area we’re looking into. Are we likely to make a move for anyone, recall TFM or hang on to Darmian and wait until the summer?

Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Achraf Hagimi is simply some random player - it is a waste of time asking about such things.}

Agree that DDG and Sanchez are our stand out players. Disagree that they’re the only two with quality. Frustrating to see Pogba and Martial used in positions they’re not equipped to play in. Would love to see Sanchez on right and Martial on left. With Valencia’s ability to overlap Sanchez could have plenty of freedom to drift inside which is what Mata has been doing for the last 18 months anyway. Matic is a top DM and should allow Pogba to play with freedom in a midfield 3. Surely one of Herrera, Fellaini, Carrick or McTominay could play the other position in that midfield. Lukaku is able to hold up the ball and if used properly could be fantastic at unleashing Martial, Sanchez and Pogba in attack as well as scoring plenty himself inside the box.

In defence as well as having the best GK in the world, we’ve got two good full backs in Shaw and Valencia. TFM could be a good back up for RB from next season and allow a gradual transition into first team. Bailey is immense and we’ve really missed him. Once fit we need a top quality, consistent partner for him.

Overall I think we’re only a CB and CM short of a great team provided we play a midfield 3 and use the attacking players we have wisely. A second CM to replace Carrick in the squad is also needed and with young guys like Tuanzebe and Perreira I think we have a balanced, young and exciting team. Smalling and Jones are abysmal and it looks like Fellaini and Darmian want out. If those four left along with Carrixk and Zlatan moving on and we bring in a CB and one or two CMs while promoting TFM, Tuanzebe and Perreira I’d be happy. No need to panic, it’s not a huge overhaul, just a bit of quality to allow us play a system that would get the best out of what we have.

I'm sure a two game European ban will have little to no bearing on transfers but could any of the Eds clarify if we are seeking to sell any defenders? Darmian/ Smalling/ Jones/ Blind were all mentioned in the past (I have read the page and listened to the Sharkpod) . Given Bailey and Jones are out of CL and Shaw and Rojo have long term injuries, are any of these players likely to leave or will it likely be January before we see some movement here?

If Neymar wants to leave we should be challenging PSG to sign him. If he's not viable (which he more than likely isn't), I'd be happy to go forward with a front 3 of Rashford, Lukaku and Mikki and prepare for a big bid for Greizzman in January.

DM is priority IMO as Carrick can't give more than 2/ 3 consecutive games and Pogba and Hererra both perform better when a solid player is behind them. Matic the ideal to allow TFM and Perreira time for development.

If we add Matic, trim away the fat by allowing Smalling and Young to leave and possibly TFM go on loan, we'd have a highly competitive squad. Add AG in January, possibly throw Zlatan into the mix and assess full back positions after we see how Shaw performs. No need to panic buy a RB given Valencia has another 2/ 3 seasons in him and Darmian states he's happy.

Only other area that may be addressed is CM but I can't see that happening unless we move Fellaini and/ or Mata on by end of summer.

Weigl, Jorginho it Dendoncker would be brilliant replacements for Carrick and would give great cover/ competition to Matic.

I agree a 433 is our best option going forward as it is best for Pogba. Milonkovic-Savic would be phenomenal but wouldn’t refuse a Toni Kross or even Fabregas signing for that position.

Matic, Pogba plus two more along with Herrera and Pereira would be comfortable. Lingard gives us the option of playing a 10 at times if we want and obviously Sanchez can play there too. Letting Mata go would also mean more chances for Gomes as a 10 next season.

So 2 midfielders, a top CB, replace Zlatan with a Fox in the box type and we’re laughing. Add to this TFM for RB, Tuanzebe for CB, Pereira for CM and Gomes for 10 and we’d have a squad with a fantastic mix of youth/ experience, with players able to play different styles and systems. Offload Darmian, Smalling, Jones, Fellaini and Mata along with Carrick and Zlatan. Fantasy Football stuff perhaps 🙈.
