Ed002, just a quick one if your available please mate. I've heard today that Liverpool are in for Tony Kroo's, are we showing any interest at all, I think we should be, he is exactly the type of player we should be looking at, and in my personal opinion he is an upgrade on Stootman too, plus he is international team mates with Bastian too.

Also do you think we might be interested in signing another player, in a different position, defender perhaps?

Thanks Ed, keep up the good work for all us fans everyday, great site by the way.

Douglas Duggo

{Ed004's Note - Toni Kroos will not be moving clubs and Ed 2 doesn't answer on here anymore}

1.) 03 Aug 2015 22:57:02
Haha I'd love toni Kroos but as if Madrid would even entertain a bid!! The rat eaters are losing the plot there

2.) 04 Aug 2015 04:19:58
Are you serious? Midfielder is the last thing we should be looking at

3.) 04 Aug 2015 21:01:29
If we sign Kroos, we could play all season with a 3man midfield.
My god the games we would control.
Kroos, Carrick,Schweni, Schneriderlin, Fellaini, Herrera, Blind

I've come to the conclusion that none of the eds work through the night 24 hours a day, as whenever I write a post it never gets posted, I work days so can't ever post anything during the day so I have to do it of an evening and it never gets posted.

Douglas Duggo

{Ed001's Note - unfortunately we have to sleep.}

1.) 29 Aug 2015 06:10:15
Seriously, 001? Redbull doesn't sort ya? ;)

Ps. Douglas Duggo, usually when I post at night they are posted in the morning.

{Ed001's Note - a few years ago those crappy energy drinks nearly killed me when I tried to use them to help me through a transfer window. Hence I had to move to sunny climes for my health. Avoid that stuff at all costs mate, they are poisonous.}

2.) 29 Aug 2015 09:26:50
Yeah stay away from that garbage, what you need is a big bit of crack, that will do it :)

Evans and Blackett out, that means a CB coming in. but who. ?

3.) 29 Aug 2015 09:57:49
Just lik when we wer bound to buy a striker after letting rvp and falcao go?

4.) 29 Aug 2015 10:11:17
Not convinced Syd, we have Smalling, Rojo, Jones, McNair, and LVG sees Blind as a CB as well. If he can't get who he wants I think he'll wait.

5.) 29 Aug 2015 10:30:20
Douglas,

Are you joking mate? Of course none of them work 24/7, do you?

6.) 29 Aug 2015 11:00:13
I do GDS2. I'm retired ;-)

7.) 29 Aug 2015 12:38:02
There is a number of eds that work on this site, and they should be working on a shift rotation basis, it should be a 24 hour 7 day a week round the clock communication centre for all United related rumours/banter/issues/queries.

{Ed018's Note - it kinda works like that with the different places all of us live but you aren't being realistic. We all have real jobs and families to support. We all do our best to get the posts up as quickly as we can}

8.) 29 Aug 2015 14:19:00
Maybe duggo's offering to run it for you eds.

9.) 29 Aug 2015 14:26:17
Hey Douglas. maybe after you start paying the Eds for the site and contributing your own manpower, then you can make those requests. Till then, it's only nice that you shut it and take the good work that is being offered to you freely - because you make no contribution whatsoever.

10.) 29 Aug 2015 14:28:33
I think Douglas has got to that crack syd.

29 Aug 2015 02:58:13
Can anyone elaborate on today's press conference, it's one of the first I've missed for a long time due to having to do overtime, did van gaal let anything away as to which positions he will be looking to strengthen, and did he say what formation we will be playing against Swansea and whether Fellaini would be starting or will he be sticking with the same team, now the champions league fixtures have finally been released I think it's time to start squad rotation, schneiderlin and Darwin haven't tasted champions league and need a break.

Douglas Duggo

1.) 29 Aug 2015 10:22:32
Darwin may not have experienced the Champions League before but he did predict its evolution from the European Cup.

2.) 29 Aug 2015 12:39:35
Is that lower Darwin or Upper?

17 Aug 2015 18:46:31
If City sign Otamendi and De Bruyne I would go as far as saying that they have recruited better than us this year, like every year since they was taken over bar last summer when they had transfer restriction, why oh why oh why is it so hard for us to attract the best world class players year after year unlike them, I'm sick and tired of it now, it just doesn't make sense anymore, I can't understand it, we are supposed to be the biggest club in the UK, surely players want to play for us, and we can't blame it on the weather anymore, they've signed players that we need, how can LGV not realise we need to strengthen our defense, week after week it let's us down, we can all see it, why can't we, we was never in for Ramos or Hummels, just trying to please the fans and put pressure on our below average central defenders, there's loads of centre backs out there that are better than ours who we could go for, why are we just going for midfielders and wingers is beyond me, just can't work it out, anyways let's hope for a good start in champs league tomorrow, I'm going for 3 points with a nice easy win 4-2 with Rooney kick starting his season with a brace and Mata and either Schneiderlin, Depay or Young with the other goals.

Douglas Duggo

1.) 17 Aug 2015 19:16:17
I'll tell you why. Its simple
Sterling is not worth 49m to us
KDB is not worth 50m to us
Otamendi is not worth 35m to us.

City have an unlimited budget, we do not. We bought very rashly last year, overpaying for adm and even shaw.
Imo we haven't overpayed for any player this year.

2.) 17 Aug 2015 19:19:37
Otamendi and De Bruyne would improve us immensely and even make us title challengers.
De Bruyne makes an assist every game and could play in the hole as good as anyone in the world

3.) 17 Aug 2015 21:46:59
I disagree Imightbesomebody, we have overpaid well more than city have in the last couple of years, fellaini, Di Maria, falcoa even though it was a loan it was loads, Mata, just to name a few, I would rather of had all their business done for us than what we have bought in the last few years since Fergie retired, we seem to buy players in positions that were not desperate for unlike all the other best teams in the league, city Chelsea arsenal always improve their weak areas unlike us who seen to buy players for the sake of it, I just don't get it anymore, I can't understand it. I would rather have De Bruyne given his age, for £50 million pounds sterling, than Di Maria or Fellainie for their given prices. I'll be very upset and gutted if we don't sign a new world class brilliant centre back and a centre forward like that too to replace Rooney when he isn't performing like he should be.

16 Aug 2015 13:01:12
What is Van Gaal's problem with Hererra, what does this guy have to do to start a game? Both of our first 2 games this season he has come off the bench and been our best midfielder on the pitch? I personally would like to see him starting along with schneiderlin and with either Carrick or Schweinstieger in a 3 man midfield.

That was the worst performance I've seen from Rooney in a United shirt on Friday and I challenge anyone to correct me otherwise.

Douglas Duggo

1.) 16 Aug 2015 14:35:37
It does not suit with the philosophy LVG has.
It's evident that he is ready to play 2 DMs to protect our CBs. Herrera in holding role isn't the best as he is more of a tiki taka pass and give player. And often runs forward which LVG hates and wants both midfielders staying back.
Herrera in the hole gives much more control to us and could do more damage if he's started there and not thrown just to see out the game. He has a brilliant shot in him and is very tidy in possession.

2.) 16 Aug 2015 14:21:58
Herrera was the best midfielder on the pitch against Villa???

He's underrated but that comment's a stretch.

3.) 16 Aug 2015 15:03:11
Have you ever wondered why everyone on here is on here and not managing one of the biggest clubs on earth?? Because we are not managers we have opinions yes but we do not have any insight into the day to day operation s at the club.

Lvg said that Adnan impressed in training and did very well hence he got his start against villa maybe Herrera is not doing enough day to day to warrant a starting place .

It really is getting tedious on here lately.

Seen some reports recently suggesting we will only go for Schneiderlin if we fail with Schweinstegier, who would people prefer if it was one or the other, taking into account different aspects, ie - age, years left playing at the top, experience, wage, price tag, premier league experience, ideal for what type of player we currently need etc etc.

I personally would prefer Schneiderlin as I think he is exactly the type of player we need, and he has proven premier league experience and there is a lot more years left in the tank.

Douglas Duggo

1.) 17 Jun 2015 17:39:46
A couple years ago it would have been as Schweini hands down but given age and Epl experience I would also opt for Schneiderlin.

2.) 17 Jun 2015 17:43:00
Schneiderlin for me because of age and also because if carrick were to have a better season injury wise then schneiderlin is more likely to be content with playing less games than schweinsteiger due to his club and international pedigree

3.) 17 Jun 2015 18:40:03
Schneiderlin all day long. Shweinsteigers wages, age, never played in EPL and his recent injury record all go against him for me.

4.) 17 Jun 2015 22:18:06
Schneiderlin, particularly as bizarrely, everyone seems to be able to spell his name correctly.

5.) 17 Jun 2015 22:26:28
What about Schweinsneijderlin? I hear he has a bit of everything.

6.) 18 Jun 2015 00:12:01
Stop being silly Supersub! 😉 it is strange how their names merge together so neatly tho isn't it?

Topbomin, apparently Manchester United have shown an interest in Julian Draxler recently who in my opinion would be a very good addition, although in my opinion plays a similar role to the number 10 role that mata,januzaj, Fellaini and Rooney play, we need an out and out striker in my opinion.

If anyone has any doubts as to what type of player Schweinsteiger is or how good he actually is, then go and do 2 hours research and look at his performances for Germany at all his last international competitions, world cups, euro, champs league, and against us every time he's played, the guy is an absolute beast and is exactly the type of player we've needed for years, a tough ball winning midfielder with skill and leadership, and can chip in with a couple of goals aswell, just watch his performance last year alone at the world cup final against Argentina. I would take him above Vidal any day, him Schneiderlin and Herrera would be some midfield, can't think of a better midfield 3 than that in world football at the moment.

Edds, if it isn't a full time job for you then how did you get the job in the first place, did you have to have a formal interview, how would you be able to get into this type of work from a pedestrian's point of view?

Douglas Duggo

{Ed001's Note - well for me, I started the original site along with Ed033, and for the first 8 years or so I used to work full time and do the sites when I finished work. Then for a few years I was able to drop down to part time and recently made this my only job. The others came on board at varying times after offering their help at times we needed more people. There was no formal interview as stuff, they were just people who had spent a lot of time on the sites and I had been able to get to know them and trust them.}
