Another disappointing result not the end of the world tho with spurs liverpool and arsenal dropping points.For me the verdict is still out on lvg would of liked him to try something diffrent in the second half put two up top and had a real go, it was a incredibly easy game for Everton centre backs and keeper. Had fellaini put his chance away would have been a diffrent game though. I would also like to hear other people's views on falcao. I feel sorry for him, his main chance came at the start of the season when the football was poor and he got very little service add to this niggling injuries and trying to regain fitness. Then thrown into the Chelsea game and this game when unfortunately the game was gone at half time.

Hard for any striker with the slow paced game we play, I would hate to be a Striker for us at the minute - Rooney has looked poor when up top as well, isolated basically with nothing to feed off.

It is frustrating that when something clearly isn't working the manager doesn't change anything.

We looked great the first half hour against Chelsea, they adjusted and we didn't create. We looked very good today for the first half hour and Everton managed to get two goals against the run of play and we just stopped. Problem is we still didn't create despite having so much of the ball. Just like the Dutch at the World Cup.

Even the Fellaini chance was not down to our good play, it was him closing down Barry and forcing a mistake.

Good performance bad result, I'm never happy with a loss but showing signs of exciting things to come next season. I thought Shaw was excellent working well with young. Rooney tried and that is really all you can ask when your asked to play a role different to what your used to playing. For me he lacks the positional awareness and close control to play that role but everybody already knew that. Falcao was thrown into that game he played ok I thought but anyone would of struggled to make a impact upfront on there own in that game. Mcnair had a good game really likes to get forward and confident enough to have a couple of efforts at goal. My only disappointment was I would of liked to have seen young pushed to left back and Di Maria replace Shaw get at them a bit more down that side. Credit where it's due tho chelsea defended very well and all put in a shift, Mourinho used zouma to nullify fellaini and as much as I dislike him he gets results and that's what football's about. I hope that we can add a couple of quality players in the summer because the last few games have shown that we are not that far off where we want and expect to be.

Very fair assessment, I still think Mourinho got lucky in the sense that we had 3 players out who were all big misses for us except maybe Jones who I thought wouldn't have played better than McNair. But we lacked Rooney's strength up front and people's willingness to pass to him while he's there everyone seem to be a bit hesitant to play it to Falcao. Herrera was my MOTM apart from his one mistake where he didn't track hazard for the goal he looked most determind to win.

I can take a lot of pleasure from going to Stamford bridge having 70% possession against the league leaders and make them look like the underdogs.

2.) 19 Apr 2015 11:45:40
I agree ozwald, Carrick was a massive miss his calm head in there would have made a massive diffrence.

If the clyne rumours are true I will be very disappointed to see Rafael leave obviously we don't know what goes on behind closed doors he may have a attitude problem and he does have injury problems. But he always gave 100 percent on the pitch. Would of liked him to be given a chance under lvg.

I like Raf and his playing style. Who knows what LvG's opinion is but I would imagine its more to do with either injuries or the rashness (or lack of control) in his play. LvG likes control and structure so maybe he thinks Clyne is a better fit?

2.) 15 Apr 2015 18:36:54
Im not a huge fan of Rafa, i liked him at first but even now i'd choose valencia over him. He is a red card waiting to happen everytime he plays in my opinion.

3.) 15 Apr 2015 19:36:16
The question on Rafael is, has he learned? HB mentions rashness and Rafael has from early days tended to jump in, give free kicks away and get the wrong side. He tries to intercept rather than control the position. My guess is that LVG has tried to give him chance to learn but still at his age he hasn't done.

{Ed004's Note - It is a shame as I really rate the lad but if he hasn't learned LvG methods then he only has himself to blame. LvG has given plenty of game time to most of the squad. If we had an inform Rafael I wouldn't sign a new right back and think we would be a lot better going forward, his crossing for a start is a lot better than Valencia's. Though another important factor to consider is how settled our back 4 has been recently, it's quite likely Rafael would have picked up an injury}

4.) 16 Apr 2015 08:45:36
But what does Rafael have that Clyne does not? I think it is a brilliant signing, if recent reports are correct.

This isn't Manchester United related but Just read that Martin odegaard is on 80000 a week at Real Madrid obviously don't know how true this is. But if true it shows that football has finally gone mad.

Cumbrianred

1.) Read yesterday it was 40k

2.) Also reports circling that Madrid have bought him and his family a luxury house as well as giving him full use of a private jet to regularly visit his homeland. All this on top of £80,000 a week to play B team football and a nice signing on fee. Said it before and I'll say it again Madrid have ruined football.

{Ed007's Note - Wayne Rooney to Man Utd in 2004? Roy Keane getting £50k a week in 1999? Utd have been just as bad as anyone for taking football financially where it is today. For years Utd used their financial power to pay over the normal wage to attract players, it's only in recent years they've been left struggling to match clubs like Madrid, City and Chelsea.
You can't take the moral highground when Utd pay players the sort of money Rooney or Falcoa are getting.}

3.) I agree with you ED in regards to the wages paid to players like Falcao and Rooney although I suppose Rooney has given a lot to the club. I feel with Madrid though by triggering purchases such as the fees they paid for Zidane, Ronaldo, Kaka etc they have just took the game up to a whole new financial level.

{Ed007's Note - Jealousy's a terrible thing.... (envy) I try not to get bogged down with the £ side of things, there's nothing we can do to stop it. As a Celtic fan it's even worse when you see teams like Hull in the Top 40 richest clubs all because of TV money but it is what it is. Cambridge will make more £ from their FA Cup replay than Celtic will for winning the league.
The latest thing to grind my gears is 'I want to play Champions League football' shout, what they mean is they want the wages the BIG CL teams pay. If it was about the prestige why not sign for Celtic...or a Basel? You're almost guaranteed CL football or a chance to qualify. B*$£@&$
Rant over :)

4.) Couldn't have said it better myself ED. Money talks.

5.) Juanmatasbeard

There are points about Madrid which did mean it could be said they had an unfair advantage. The deal on the training ground for example.
United only spend what they have earned, we don't have a multi billionaire bank rolling deals and if I was looking at clubs that could be said to be ruining football I would look at City, Chelsea, PSG, certain Russian clubs and Monaco until their money ran out. For me it was their intervention throwing money at players that caused a problem, yet recently pegged back for the time being by FFP.

6.) 25 Jan 2015 05:17:39
007, that's enough Buckfast for one night bud! ;)

{Ed007's Note - Cheeky sod!}

7.) Just out of curiousity ed 007, would you like to see Celtic in the premier league or championship or whatever league they would have to start at to eventually end up in the premier league?

{Ed007's Note - No. I'd much rather see someone come in and invest in the Scottish game or see us in a second division of a Euro league. I think the EPL is a bit of a joke that'll end up a financial mess when the 'European Super League' eventually happens.The EPL is full of half-scarf daytrippers who would rather take selfies or Tweet than watch the game, it's just a money-making product with no soul, give it 10/20 years and Utd and Liverpool fans will be sitting together at Old Trafford.
I don't buy all the Best League in The World nonsense, it's the best marketted but take away TV money and what have you got? No money to afford the foreigners that make the EPL watchable and then who's going to watch Stoke v Hull, in fact who watches games like that anyway?

8.) 25 Jan 2015 13:50:59
Stoke and hull fans?

{Ed007's Note - Who will probably all be at the game taking selfies and asking other fans to keep the noise down all the while thinking they are one of the biggest clubs in the world just because TV gives them £100 million. They have no ambition to improve or challenge as long as they survive in the EPL and get Sly's cheque. They're nothing but scavangers hanging onto the coat tails of clubs like Utd for the scraps.}

9.) The biggest advantage Madrid and Barca have is their direct TV deals.

{Ed002's Note - That was one of the main discussion points at a meeting in Monaco at the end of August - but in relation to a pan European breakaway.}

10.) 25 Jan 2015 16:32:39
I know a few stoke fans who were at the old victoria ground all through the 90s who are getting priced out of games, 4 season tickets these days even with kids discounts is a fair whack. Don't forget stoke do have a bit of history in the game going back to Stanley Matthews. Sure they want to stay in the top flight, no one wants to see their team do a Wigan or a Portsmouth or even a rangers. A lot of them got sick of pulis and his style of play designed to just keep them up. And speaking to a few fans they have more ambition than just finishing 17th to cash in on tv money.

Look at a club like Southampton. Dropped to the 3rd division, rebuilt the club and now challenging for a European spot. Hardly suffering a lack of ambition ir just in it for the tv money.

Happy new year to all posters and eds. I believe with the squad we have we should be able to get champions league this year and attract the players we need in summer. In my eyes the best signing we could make would be a new contract for DDG.

I disagree about our league being overrated Al. Look at last season when Leicester won the title with the previous champions finishing mid table. Just wouldn't happen in Spain. Our 'weaker' teams are generally stronger than those in other leagues and every game is a battle. Regarding Pogba, if that's what the club need to pay to get him then so be it. He could be the difference between battling for the title or battling for 4th place. Whole bigger picture at play (missing CL next year would cost us a lot with the adidas deal etc) . I guess it's the end of the season that determines if the fee is worth it! .

With all due respects to the Ed's how can they possibly know that Pogba doesn't want to return? Yes he has possibly stated the desire to work for one of the two big Spanish clubs, but I'm guessing that's true for most footballers.

Cumbrianred

{Ed001's Note - you ever thought we could have spoken to him or his agent and asked? It is not difficult to get to know agents and footballers you know.}
