I was wondering how easy some of our supporters think it is to complete a transfer? I am no expert and presume that those on frees are simple, you just agree terms with the player and that's it. I can also presume that those that hand in a request are a bit easier, in that you approach the club for permission to talk to the player and if they want to sell they grant it and you agree terms with both the player and selling club. It has to be so hard with a club who don't want to sell, you can approach and make an offer, they can accept or decline your offer, you then have to speak to the player and his bloody agent and agree terms. Most players we are after I think have not handed in requests to leave, so it becomes a long bargaining session to see if you can meet the selling clubs valuation and also agree terms with a player? I think I am right Ed 002 will probably tell me I am mad

Cantonas seagull friend

{Ed002's Note - it is not like that for those o. Frees.

1.) 17 Jul 2019 18:42:23
Thanks, how hard is it for those out of contract and on a "free"? I only ask as some people on here are demanding to know why and when we are signing players without knowing what it actually takes.

{Ed002's Note - Stuff like this needs to happen and plenty of payments need to be made.
(a) Paperwork including obtaining International Clearance and Work Permits if necessary.
(b) Any levy applied by the local FA – 5% for the Premier League. This eill be based on the assigned value of the transfer fee.
(c) Tax due on the assigned value of the transfer fee – typically this will be VAT (at varying rates across Europe) some or all of which should be reclaimable.
(d) Agent fees – this may be to one or more agents (as an example, Liverpool spent £44M plus VAT on agent fees (nearly double the next highest) last season alone).
(e) Tax due on the agent fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the agent bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(f) Intermediary fees – this may be to one or more sponging leeches (what do you mean you have a super agent?) .
(g) Tax due on the Intermediary fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the Intermediary bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(h) Signing on fee to the player (possibly including non-reclaimable VAT if the player is VAT registered).
(i) Legal fees.
(j) VAT on legal fees which is reclaimable.
(k) Moving/relocation costs for the player.
(l) VAT on moving/relocation costs which is reclaimable.
(m) Solidarity and Training Contributions (this can be significant payments paid based on the assigned transfer fee to clubs you may never of heard of).
(n) Paying up insurance costs to the selling club (usually waived).}

2.) 17 Jul 2019 19:43:04
Are there any decent football documentaries showing behind the scenes of a transfer. Geeky I know but I would find it fascinating to watch.

{Ed002's Note - Quite frankly, of course not.}

3.) 17 Jul 2019 19:43:49
Thanks Ed002, now some of our supporters may see the reason why we have just not signed a player.

{Ed002's Note - To be fair they are far from the brightest.}

4.) 17 Jul 2019 20:31:11
And some people think you are a journalist 😂.

{Ed002's Note - Many say I am a simple singer songwriter that came out of Laurel Canyon in the early 70s. Others say, I played for Arsenal, Everton and Millwall before a successful career in the Medical Law (specialising in left knees). Some even say it was my fadget design that was used in the patent for tentafere that led to air traffic control over Lake Havasu City being lost for 40 minutes on Christmas Eve 2014. Many finally figured out I am a tubby kid from Bolton.}

5.) 17 Jul 2019 21:43:11
Ed002, if they read this they might shut up about asking about player x and y?

{Ed002's Note - I think Player Y will sign Friday.}

6.) 17 Jul 2019 21:51:32
You‘re asking for trouble there Ed 😂

Thanks a lot for the insight.

7.) 17 Jul 2019 21:56:24
oh, I had player Y as Bale, you sure it's not X?

8.) 17 Jul 2019 22:32:51
I have now worked out the identity of Ed 002 and the truth is stranger than fiction. We are so so lucky. Thanks Ed.

10 Jun 2019 19:36:16
Pogba agreed deal with Juventus? Who pays these Journos?

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 10 Jun 2019 21:37:23
You by clicking on their rubbish.

2.) 11 Jun 2019 09:47:03
9 years out of date. lol.

3.) 11 Jun 2019 12:37:59
Is that in seagull years shappy?

15 Dec 2018 14:59:46
Not sure if Barcelona are after Pogba or ever were, but could a swap deal with Dembele be done?

Cantonas seagull friend

{Ed025's Note - swap deals very seldom happen im afraid CSF,,

1.) 15 Dec 2018 15:35:45
Was the Mina and Gomes swap for Pogba last summer bull?

{Ed025's Note - probably mate, i would imagine agents would frown upon it as they would lose their cut of the transfer fee..

2.) 15 Dec 2018 15:59:41
Given the stories of dembeles attitude why swap one disruptive influence for another?

3.) 15 Dec 2018 23:18:51
Dembele seems like childsplay compared to Pogba. I’d swap the two for toffee.

06 Dec 2018 18:30:37
Any chance we will go for Robben, Ribery and Sneijder in January?

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 06 Dec 2018 18:48:55
nah i think they are trying to get Cantona, Pallister and Robson.

2.) 06 Dec 2018 20:14:23
Ronaldinho minimum.

3.) 06 Dec 2018 20:32:58
Charlton is still in the stands, maybe him, Bruce and Yorke would help.

4.) 07 Dec 2018 10:09:58
You spelt Schnyder wrong, mate.

5.) 07 Dec 2018 19:46:38
Same fantastic player however you spell it.
Sign him we'll learn to spell it eventually - I am so excited I getting ready by going to night class.

6.) 07 Dec 2018 20:10:28
Don't forget Gaitan; also on the list.

7.) 08 Dec 2018 07:14:35
All these players are now well into their 30's, which probably means they have now become the first choice targets under our current manager. 😂😂😂.

8.) 08 Dec 2018 20:36:23
Thanks for the clarity Shappy, kinda what i was getting at.

9.) 09 Dec 2018 12:24:43
Who could forget Ezequiel Garay at cb.

10.) 10 Dec 2018 10:08:57
In advanced talks with strootman.

11.) 10 Dec 2018 17:42:02
Gaitans testimonial soon.

20 Nov 2017 16:47:54
Just read on Manchester United Updates on Facebook that we have an interest in Valencias Carlos SOLER. Any of the Eds know him and know if rumour has any legs?

Cantonas seagull friend

{Ed002's Note - I have dealt with this several times and on the Sharkopod.}

1.) 20 Nov 2017 17:57:53
There is an interest as CM option, its possible but very expensive, and he is not the first choice, per Ed002.

2.) 21 Nov 2017 00:17:28
First choice being Milinkovic Savic at Lazio, If I recall correctly.

3.) 21 Nov 2017 07:38:40
Can anyone of you describe those two for me? What their playstyle is like etc.? Who would you prefer if you could chose? I have never seen them play. Thanks.

4.) 21 Nov 2017 08:53:12
Carlos Soler is technically good with very good passing and dribbling ability, able to pick spaces and drive the pass foward and very versatile, he sees and executes the final ball really well and is also a decent scorer. He can play as CM or RW, he prefers CM position.

Segej Milinkovic Savic, like Soler is technically better, physically dominant, can dribble, scores goals and versatile, but his passing ability not good as of Carlos Soler.

5.) 21 Nov 2017 17:02:45
Thanks, kenedyandy.

10 Jul 2019 17:16:33
Was Tielemans an option and we missed him or was he never on the list of the club?

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 10 Jul 2019 17:32:16
Either way it doesn't matter. I know this is a banter site but frankly it's getting rather tedious and asking Eds questions which make no difference to what Utd will actually do just annoys them. By all means let's banter amongst ourselves but regarding transfers let's be honest nearly all media reports are guesswork until a move is almost imminent. Suggest we all chill and a have a refreshing glass of whatever is our poison and by Aug 8th we will know where we stand.

2.) 10 Jul 2019 17:37:07
He was a potential Pogba replacement but obviously didn’t want to dick Leicester about waiting for us to make an offer.

3.) 10 Jul 2019 17:56:56
Salford, wind it in mate. If I was asking an ED, i would have tried to put the question to them.

4.) 10 Jul 2019 18:16:09
Ed Woodward to Leicester - you give us Maguire, we will step away from Tielemans?

5.) 10 Jul 2019 18:42:16
CSF if you ‘RTFP’ you will find the information you are looking for.

Salford is right though, it doesn’t matter now and asking the same questions that have been answered several times while updates have been thick and fast must be tedious.

6.) 10 Jul 2019 19:08:02
Wazza, search Tielmans on the site, there is very little about him.

7.) 10 Jul 2019 19:09:51
Wazza, take it back. There are a few different spellings of his surname. Maybe why I did not find much on him.

8.) 10 Jul 2019 20:09:23
Fair enough CSF 👍🏼.

9.) 10 Jul 2019 20:42:43
CFS no offence intended at all. Just that frankly the media love to report stuff over and over again and some fans do too without reading prior posts.

Also if Utd are being professional we really should not get a squeak about who they are signing until any deal is done. I know we are the biggest club in this country and possibly worldwide but when eg City but someone there is not normally anywhere near the level of speculation until the deal is sealed or almost agreed.

I would love it if Utd kept totally silent and there were no leaks at all and then suddenly they announced the signing of two or three players. I do appreciate just how difficult it is for clubs to buy and sell players and particularly to Co ordinate things so that the necessary funds can be in place and so that rivals are not given the chance to compete for players. It really cannot be easy to buy and sell withing a relatively limited timespan and there are so many parties involved nowadays that negotiations are bound to be fraught at times.

10.) 10 Jul 2019 23:54:37
Every single thing we do now the media know about. You'd see a lot of surprising signings before with us but not these days. Even an enquiry comes out as if it's big now. Gone are the days of an Hernandez signing or a Larsson which came completely out of nowhere.

03 Jul 2019 20:19:52
Would anyone take Cahill on a free? He knows the league, kept Jones and Smalling out of the England team sometimes, he may be a cheap fix?

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 03 Jul 2019 20:33:00
I don't know how to say this in any other way, so erm, NO.

2.) 03 Jul 2019 20:43:26
😂😂😂.

3.) 03 Jul 2019 23:11:04
The answer is No way Jose. It does beg the question though, how do you justify the value for money difference of £70m between Cahill and Maguire?

12 Jun 2019 18:23:58
Well it's obvious that Daniel James cannot play an instrument, or was that only for the amazing Sanchez.

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 12 Jun 2019 18:43:53
Good that should never happen again!

Can you imagine Sir Alex era and announcing Ruud van Nistelrooy playing a glockenspiel.

Just saw a rumour that Jeff Bezos is interested in a £3.8 Billion takeover, any inkling of truth?

Cantonas seagull friend

{Ed002's Note - Bezos? Of course not. Twitter I assume.}

1.) 27 Apr 2019 09:57:49

2.) 27 Apr 2019 14:13:13

Angelred, don't be a knob. It was a rumour and I asked a question.

02 Apr 2019 21:12:41
I think Mike Dean has been a bit harsh with some yellows.

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 02 Apr 2019 22:00:14
Mike Dean is the least of our worries, I said the day he got the job should have never got it, too early and hasn't done enough.
Now the big problem is Woodward,
Giving jobs and contracts out like sweets,

2.) 02 Apr 2019 22:33:24
Leahy whilst i agree woodward is a problem.
Our biggest problem is the players.
They are weak technically and physically poorer than all our domestic and forgein opposition.
We have no leader a dressing room that is ill disciplined in so many facets.
Over hyped over paid players who are over rated by only our own supporters.
Southgate saw through jones young and smalling Spain gave up on mata and herrera years ago. Periera and fred not considered for Brazil.
Martial is miles off a French starting place.
Ole had our worst players playing better. But anybody who thought those players could sustain that are bonkers.
We are a cup team have been for last 5 years. Capable of good wins but also capable of runs of losses.
Back to big ron and the doc. Lots of players who flatter to decieve.
Good on a good day but average 6 or 7 weeks out of ten.
Nobody i repeat nobidy could turn this squad into challengers. The talent or depth if talent is not there to sustain a challenge.
Can any poster come here and make a case for this squad to be title challengers?

3.) 02 Apr 2019 22:39:42
Fair post Ken, I agree with it.

4.) 02 Apr 2019 22:40:55
Exactly Leahy. Except he's giving them out in the wrong order. The players that should be leaving are staying and the players who actually improve our squad are nailed on to leave.

Let's hope this is a wake up call to Ole and he realises that this squad needs major surgery.

We hear about Madrid and Barcelona planning major rebuilding of their squads. We seem to just plod along not knowing what we're having for dinner tomorrow, let alone planning the future of the club.

Oles at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta!

{Ed002's Note - The club failed to support the last manager but has still spent endless sums over the years.}

5.) 02 Apr 2019 22:47:47
Great post ken can’t argue with any of that.

6.) 02 Apr 2019 23:08:00
Top post Ken.

7.) 02 Apr 2019 23:17:13
Shambolic, These are MANCHESTER UNITED's First team players and failed to do basic things right on the football Pitch.
Anyone has any high hopes from Lingard, Fred, Periera, Jones, Smalling and Martial? Can they turn us into title challengers? They may be fine for cup games as subs but not UTD first team players.

8.) 02 Apr 2019 23:55:01
and yet most were prasing the team a few weeks ago ole is not the answer and never will be we. we should of wated till the summer like the eds said he was brought in for a easy run and now he is ound out wanting.

9.) 03 Apr 2019 05:51:44
Top post Ken.
dazw, we had more than enough chances to win the game.
The goals conceded were silly, sloppy mistakes.
It is not down to Ole, its due to the lack of quality players and injuries.

Everyone knows Young is not a natural RB and is past his best. Yet, still he is our first choice RB. Add to that Smalling, who is another first choice CB. Unless, we don't start recruiting smartly, no manager can turn it around.

10.) 03 Apr 2019 00:27:22
Ed002 i agree with you. Millions has been spent. A lot of it badly and then compounded with stupid contracts.
Mr Woodward has not been held accountable for so many bad calls and poor management of the football side of the' business'
Players need to be held accountable. In reality 18 of our squad ciuld go elsewhere and make no significant impact whatsoever.
That is a shocking indictment of a team with one of the highest wage bill in Europe.
Valencia jones smalling bailly matic herrera mata rojo fred periera darmian young . How best to describe these 12 IMO.
All are good solid pros. A couple were top players at their peak but are past their best. A couple were good players at their best and are also well past their best. A few are still good players playing at a club that they are not capable of delivering the expectations of the fans and club. A few were never good enough in the first place. Most of them start regularly because they are the best we have. On their best day and if they all have that day together they can still find ways to beat the best teams but i'm afraid those days don't come often enough. All good players but some not now some just barely and some never good enough. I think that's a fair appraisal of 12 of our squad

Then there is the enigma of martial. A player who splits opinion. I think he has lots of talent. Good finisher in fact a really good finisher but he is lazy off the ball or else doesn't see the runs. For me his career will follow a nani route more than a ronaldo route if the penny doesn't drop quickly.
Sanchez and martial are our highest paid attackers and neither are living up to the task.
Pogba is hugely talented in many ways. But he is not a bryan robson or roy keane who can carry a team he needs a team to carry him to allow him to be indulgent. Get the right players around him and he can be a worldie. but don't ask him to carry a team. He can't do that.
Rashford lindelof shaw ddg are our most consistent players with jessie lukaku and mctom close in behind.
Back to the top millions hundreds of millions spent but still no squad close to challenging.

11.) 03 Apr 2019 07:00:10
Thank you Ed02

It seems posters can't countenance the idea that it was not all Mourinho’s fault, so they ignore your point. I don’t. They also think Ole is the answer, a manager who is less likely to be able to stand up to the decision makers on the player purchases, he doesn’t have the gravitas or experience. We face another mess and will be very lucky if the Ole experiment/ appointment works, yet all the decision makers will do is say, but it’s what the fans wanted, demanded. This one didn’t, this one wanted a considered approach but again we seem to have dived in. Perhaps someone can tell me what the pattern Moyes, LvG, Jose and now Ole shows? To me they look eclectic in terms of a path to success, where does the blame lay for that?

12.) 03 Apr 2019 10:28:45
Red Man, The fans have already started turning against the main culprit Woodward (remember the banner flied out during the beginning of the season) .

As a consequence, I'm guessing now that Woodward will be under pressure to deliver. He cannot afford to get another selection wrong.
We are also seeing more rumors about the DoF search. So as an optimistic fan, I feel that some positive changes are under way.
Furthermore, I expect quality signings to come in this summer.

13.) 03 Apr 2019 20:32:07
Truereddevil

A DOF will be less effective if reporting to Woodward rather than directly to the board.

I personally am happy at the deal, I watched VVD at Celtic and Southampton and thought he was good, just not quite good enough. Two years ago we would have taken the piss if we bought him for £75 million, now look at him, Slabhead could do the same. I know he might be another Jones, but imagine if he was another VVD and just needed the platform?
