Rumours of Haaland to Juve.

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 24 Dec 2019 15:37:20
Apart from Haaland, some Juventus fans believe they might also sign Pogba in January.
Typical Raiola.

2.) 24 Dec 2019 21:47:39
Tuttosport rumoured to be running the story now, not checked myslef.

3.) 28 Dec 2019 12:12:12
Apparantly the Haaland rumours were a smokescreen for someone else.

I hope we don't pass up the chance on young talent and end up with an aged player like Mandzukic.

4.) 28 Dec 2019 13:59:15
Haaland agrees to join Zebre ala Juve
At a bargain 27mill.

I was wondering how easy some of our supporters think it is to complete a transfer? I am no expert and presume that those on frees are simple, you just agree terms with the player and that's it. I can also presume that those that hand in a request are a bit easier, in that you approach the club for permission to talk to the player and if they want to sell they grant it and you agree terms with both the player and selling club. It has to be so hard with a club who don't want to sell, you can approach and make an offer, they can accept or decline your offer, you then have to speak to the player and his bloody agent and agree terms. Most players we are after I think have not handed in requests to leave, so it becomes a long bargaining session to see if you can meet the selling clubs valuation and also agree terms with a player? I think I am right Ed 002 will probably tell me I am mad

Cantonas seagull friend

{Ed002's Note - it is not like that for those “Frees”

1.) 17 Jul 2019 18:42:23
Thanks, how hard is it for those out of contract and on a "free"? I only ask as some people on here are demanding to know why and when we are signing players without knowing what it actually takes.

{Ed002's Note - Stuff like this needs to happen and plenty of payments need to be made.
(a) Paperwork including obtaining International Clearance and Work Permits if necessary.
(b) Any levy applied by the local FA – 5% for the Premier League. This eill be based on the assigned value of the transfer fee.
(c) Tax due on the assigned value of the transfer fee – typically this will be VAT (at varying rates across Europe) some or all of which should be reclaimable.
(d) Agent fees – this may be to one or more agents (as an example, Liverpool spent £44M plus VAT on agent fees (nearly double the next highest) last season alone).
(e) Tax due on the agent fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the agent bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(f) Intermediary fees – this may be to one or more sponging leeches (what do you mean you have a super agent?) .
(g) Tax due on the Intermediary fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the Intermediary bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(h) Signing on fee to the player (possibly including non-reclaimable VAT if the player is VAT registered).
(i) Legal fees.
(j) VAT on legal fees which is reclaimable.
(k) Moving/relocation costs for the player.
(l) VAT on moving/relocation costs which is reclaimable.
(m) Solidarity and Training Contributions (this can be significant payments paid based on the assigned transfer fee to clubs you may never of heard of).
(n) Paying up insurance costs to the selling club (usually waived).}

2.) 17 Jul 2019 19:43:04
Are there any decent football documentaries showing behind the scenes of a transfer. Geeky I know but I would find it fascinating to watch.

{Ed002's Note - Quite frankly, of course not.}

3.) 17 Jul 2019 19:43:49
Thanks Ed002, now some of our supporters may see the reason why we have just not signed a player.

{Ed002's Note - To be fair they are far from the brightest.}

4.) 17 Jul 2019 20:31:11
And some people think you are a journalist 😂.

{Ed002's Note - Many say I am a simple singer songwriter that came out of Laurel Canyon in the early 70s. Others say, I played for Arsenal, Everton and Millwall before a successful career in the Medical Law (specialising in left knees). Some even say it was my fadget design that was used in the patent for tentafere that led to air traffic control over Lake Havasu City being lost for 40 minutes on Christmas Eve 2014. Many finally figured out I am a tubby kid from Bolton.}

5.) 17 Jul 2019 21:43:11
Ed002, if they read this they might shut up about asking about player x and y?

{Ed002's Note - I think Player Y will sign Friday.}

6.) 17 Jul 2019 21:51:32
You‘re asking for trouble there Ed 😂

Thanks a lot for the insight.

7.) 17 Jul 2019 21:56:24
oh, I had player Y as Bale, you sure it's not X?

8.) 17 Jul 2019 22:32:51
I have now worked out the identity of Ed 002 and the truth is stranger than fiction. We are so so lucky. Thanks Ed.

9.) 18 Jul 2019 11:57:57
It's Peter kaye!

10.) 18 Jul 2019 17:01:35
I was wondering how easy some of our supporters think it is to complete a transfer?

not as easy as the fifa players and football manager people think but still slightly alarmed that Barcelona can get Griezmann, Real can get Hazard, militao, Mendy and jovic, West ham can get Haller and we can't get a kid from Newcastle despite the fact he would sell his own nan for a fiver lol

Greenwood and Chong are looking decent though so maybe we don't need lots of new signings.

11.) 18 Jul 2019 21:14:03
When I read Ed02's juicier responses I immediately think of him as a middle aged female librarian on HRT and wondering where her life has gone. 💋💋💋.

{Ed002's Note - Obviously I don’t ride a Vincent HRT. I have a Vincent Black Lightning 1952.}

12.) 18 Jul 2019 21:46:23
I thought that was a marital aid.

{Ed002's Note - Sure great for picking up ginger haired chicks.}

13.) 19 Jul 2019 11:38:40
Looked up Laurel Canyon Ed - sure was a crazy time late 60s/ early 70s! Did you get to hang with Crosby, Stills, Nash, Joplin etc?!

{Ed002's Note - I was there with my girlfriend for the lost summer of 1974 in the Hollywood Hills with the Source Family and then in Laurel Canyon.}

14.) 19 Jul 2019 13:48:36
Thanks Ed002: I've just read about the Source family, Father Yod, Yahowa 13 - and much more - and, as Seagull alludes to above, that's some life you've experienced so far. We really are lucky to have you on this site; I've no doubt that every minute of your time is precious. Would be intrigued to know how you've ended up being so omniscient about all football matters though - surely the capitalist market forces that fuel the rivers of money involved in the game - plus the instant gratification culture that drives both players and fans - contradict the Source family/ Laurel Canyon beliefs about life? (Please forgive me for this rhetorical question - just really fascinated by all the things I've read! )

{Ed002's Note - The Canyon was very laid back for the few months we were there but a lot of folks were pretty strung out. The Source Family were preparing to head for pastures new and the restaurant was attracting a lot of vagrants (we had nothing to do with the restaurant). There was a lot of music being recorded at the time by the Source Family and Father Yod’s daughter was born when we were there. There were a huge number of tapes recorded but I don’t know what happened to them.}

15.) 19 Jul 2019 15:21:51
Thanks for sharing your fascinating life Ed002. Looks like the Source family headed off to a mixed reception in Hawaii! The restaurant looks like it was the place to be though. The music seems really eclectic and, maybe under another more established name such as Jefferson Airplane, would have gained more commercial success. Shame so much was lost. Thanks again for sharing Ed - much more interesting than surviving the jungle that is comprehensive school everyday here in the UK!

{Ed002's Note - Currently flying over the Med. I originally came to England to do a masters degree in London. I know some of the albums have been re-issued.}

Pogba agreed deal with Juventus? Who pays these Journos?

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 10 Jun 2019 21:37:23
You by clicking on their rubbish.

2.) 11 Jun 2019 09:47:03
9 years out of date. lol.

3.) 11 Jun 2019 12:37:59
Is that in seagull years shappy?

15 Dec 2018 14:59:46
Not sure if Barcelona are after Pogba or ever were, but could a swap deal with Dembele be done?

Cantonas seagull friend

{Ed025's Note - swap deals very seldom happen im afraid CSF,,

1.) 15 Dec 2018 15:35:45
Was the Mina and Gomes swap for Pogba last summer bull?

{Ed025's Note - probably mate, i would imagine agents would frown upon it as they would lose their cut of the transfer fee..

2.) 15 Dec 2018 15:59:41
Given the stories of dembeles attitude why swap one disruptive influence for another?

3.) 15 Dec 2018 23:18:51
Dembele seems like childsplay compared to Pogba. I’d swap the two for toffee.

06 Dec 2018 18:30:37
Any chance we will go for Robben, Ribery and Sneijder in January?

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 06 Dec 2018 18:48:55
nah i think they are trying to get Cantona, Pallister and Robson.

2.) 06 Dec 2018 20:14:23
Ronaldinho minimum.

3.) 06 Dec 2018 20:32:58
Charlton is still in the stands, maybe him, Bruce and Yorke would help.

4.) 07 Dec 2018 10:09:58
You spelt Schnyder wrong, mate.

5.) 07 Dec 2018 19:46:38
Same fantastic player however you spell it.
Sign him we'll learn to spell it eventually - I am so excited I getting ready by going to night class.

6.) 07 Dec 2018 20:10:28
Don't forget Gaitan; also on the list.

7.) 08 Dec 2018 07:14:35
All these players are now well into their 30's, which probably means they have now become the first choice targets under our current manager. 😂😂😂.

8.) 08 Dec 2018 20:36:23
Thanks for the clarity Shappy, kinda what i was getting at.

9.) 09 Dec 2018 12:24:43
Who could forget Ezequiel Garay at cb.

10.) 10 Dec 2018 10:08:57
In advanced talks with strootman.

11.) 10 Dec 2018 17:42:02
Gaitans testimonial soon.

What United signing did you not like before they signed and still don't like now, and what United signing did you not like but have changed your mind?

Mine are Alan Smith, hated him at Leeds but he won me over. Tezez, never liked him at West Ham and still can't stand him now.

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 18 Apr 2020 08:26:10
José Mourinho.
Not José Mourinho.
Hated both of them and have not changed my mind.

2.) 18 Apr 2020 10:14:53
I don't think there are any players I didn't like before they signed for United, there have been a few I was sceltical about though.

I was sceltical about Harry Maguire before he joined, while he hasn't completely won me over, he is proving to be better than I thought he would be. Others in that category would be Dan James, Carrick I wasn't sold on when we signed him, Daley Blind and Ashley Young.

While players I was sceltical about before we signed them and I'm still not convinced about would include Pogba and Lukaku.

3.) 18 Apr 2020 11:05:55
Is sceltical a word you’ve made up shappy or did I have too much to drink last night?

4.) 18 Apr 2020 11:08:59
I'd agree on Tevez. Ashley Young won me round. I wouldn't say I disliked the signing, more that I really wasn't fussed about his arrival, and for a long time wasn't really fussed about him being at the club. Amazing what commitment, a good attitude and hard work can do.

5.) 18 Apr 2020 11:16:33
A bit sceltical about your drinking habit Schnapps old son!

6.) 18 Apr 2020 11:56:55
Haha, GDS. I meant to write Sceltical, clearly my phone auto-corrected it as being dyslexic I couldn't spell it wrong the same way three times to save my life.

Spell it wrong three different ways is not just manageable but a regular occurrence. But not spelt wrong the same way😂.

7.) 18 Apr 2020 15:18:22
*sceltical.

8.) 18 Apr 2020 15:59:04
*sceltical.

9.) 18 Apr 2020 16:09:43
😂😂 What is going on shappy.

{Ed004's Note - are these warning signs?}

10.) 18 Apr 2020 17:30:45
Think I was right about the schnapps.

11.) 18 Apr 2020 16:38:50
So my posts are being edited. That last one was typed on the computer and was checked three times once by someone other than myself before it was sent😂.

{Ed004's Note - I'm not the one editing them. I posted them up and they've come through like that so I think it might be the server doing it. Was funny to see it came through the 3rd time though}

12.) 18 Apr 2020 19:33:39
weird. Sceltical.

Question for the Eds. Italies league was due to end roughly the same time as ours, so early to mid May. If they have to wait to complete their season, will the likes of Smalling and Sanchez stay and be paid by their clubs or is there a return date to United?

Cantonas seagull friend

{Ed002's Note - They will stay to June 30 - after that it is likely the leagues will be scratched if they cannot be completed.}

1.) 20 Mar 2020 20:59:59
I understand them doing all they can to finish the season, I don't want it to end as it has. We had a chance of two cups and was in great form for a run at top 4.

Yet the reality of the situation means that it is only a matter of time before they cancel the season.

2.) 20 Mar 2020 21:39:52
Hi ed when you say June 30th would that mean games started by then, or league completed by then? as it may already be getting tight to have the leagues completed by that time. I understand if you would not want to get into this yet as I'm sure preferred effort is to complete the season.

{Ed002's Note - The plan is to avoid disrupting next season and to try and get done by June 30.}

3.) 20 Mar 2020 22:05:04
Watching NHS staff and Emergency service workers doing 12 to 18 hour shifts, I am pretty sure these overpaid but elite athletes can play 2 games a week easily.

4.) 20 Mar 2020 22:51:50
My thoughts exactly ed try every option to finish this season but if we can't then we have to eventually draw a line under it we can't conclude this season at the expense of next.

5.) 21 Mar 2020 12:09:44
I can’t see it happening.

The virus will still be at peak or early decline. Even playing behind closed doors represents risks.

The only way i can see it is if there’s a vaccine or all players have had the virus and recovered - not happening.

6.) 21 Mar 2020 13:56:35
Seriously lads. at this time does it really matter?

7.) 21 Mar 2020 14:34:47
One thing I'm not sure everyone has considered is the long term knock on effects of delaying the league.

If the league finishes early July, then players will get a maximum of two weeks off before pre-season starts. The league next season can't be delayed that much due to the Euro's now being played next summer.

So players will play all next season with hardly any break this summer. They will then go into an international tournament. Get 2 weeks of then start pre-season training ahead of the 21/ 22 season. Then halfway through the 21/ 22 season around January they will be expected to play in the 2022 world cup in Qatar, then come back and play the rest of the season.

There is only likely to be 6 months between the Euro's and the world cup.

There is a serious danger of burn out with the players likely to only have a couple of two week breaks between the end of this season and the end of the 2022 season.

{Ed002's Note - They are having a lengthy break now.}

8.) 21 Mar 2020 18:35:30
That's all well and good Ed002, but that's in the middle of 2020. They are looking at playing back to back seasons and two international tournaments between when we resume playing football and the summer of 2022.

With a Euro's that would potentially require more travelling than normal with games being played all over Europe, and a world cup in Qatar and players playing and training in 40-50+ degree heat.

Even without playing any more football this season that is going to be tough.

{Ed002's Note - Nobody has suggested "back-to-back" seasons and the travel for the Euros is nothing. Players can fly in and out of Qatar for the games. If Manchester United are not up to it they can back out of the FA Cup and Europa League.}

9.) 21 Mar 2020 19:14:02
Shappy you have way too much time and over complicate things.

10.) 21 Mar 2020 23:26:59
The premier league won't get done . Could be Oct or Nov the way its going now. Just seen Italy on tv . wow the last thing we should all be thinking about is football. Keep strong people.

11.) 22 Mar 2020 09:29:29
Hi Ed002, do you feel that at some point if this carries on the priority will become the impact on next season rather than completing this season.
Thanks for all your brilliant efforts as with all the Eds.

{Ed002's Note - A line eventually needs to be drawn across.}

12.) 22 Mar 2020 10:12:41
Shappy

You are worrying about player burn out at a time when people are worrying about life and death. If the season can be completed, it will be, if it means clubs have to use their full squads so be it. These are unprecedented times and worrying about player burn out is not and should not, be high on the list of concerns. Ed is correct, if they can’t finish this season then they can’t, draw a line when/ if it can’t be. Move on but whilst people are surviving and some dying the number of games the poor footballers have to play is a meaningless argument. I think there is virtually no chance of football for the next couple of months, take a look at what is happening in our world. Unless and it unlikely to be soon, there is a vaccine or cure, we will be lucky to have next season start and difficult decisions will need to be made. We are not at the peak yet, not in the darkest hour, things will get worse and it’s bravado at best to put dates on this. The players are getting a break right now, more than many workers. NHS workers looking at dying people, people they have been trying to save, they are probably at burn out already but will carry on. Maybe when players get the chance they will appreciate what they do a bit more, maybe they will look around at some empty seats (if there is a crowd next season) and realise some who sat there were lost to this virus and having to play a lot of games isn’t so bad, even if they are a bit tired.

13.) 22 Mar 2020 17:37:45
For ****s sake, Shappy my well be self isolating, why can't he just ask the question?

14.) 22 Mar 2020 19:36:13
Red man, I have and will continue to do everything I can. Self isolating, helping elderly neighbors get food (without coming into contact with them or within 2 metres), I have also agreed with a few neighbors to walk their dogs so only one person needs to be out and about walking the dogs rather than 3 or 4 people.

I am well aware of the seriousness of the situation, I have an 86 year old Grandad in the ICU in Bristol with Coronavirus. He also has dementia so doesn't know what is going, he is scared and confused. While none of our family are allowed to see him as he is contagious. He is doing well at the moment, bit all things considered he might well die in there.

So I am acutely aware of what is happening. That is why I can on to a football site to discuss football matters as a way of escaping the current situation. I was asking a question and seeing what the general consensus was. Personally I think with or without the season finishing the idea of playing two international tournaments within 6 months one of which mid season while trying to play two full seasons does put players at risk of burn out.

Is that more important than what is going on generally in the world right now. But something I feel is an acceptable to discuss on a football forum. If you don't want to talk about football then maybe you might want to give the site a wide berth as it's general premises is to discuss football matters.

15.) 22 Mar 2020 20:12:24
Sorry to hear that shappy and hope your Grandad recovers fast.

16.) 22 Mar 2020 20:40:14
Cheers Singh, fortunately he is getting the best care. Unfortunately not everyone will be able to as this gets worse.

17.) 23 Mar 2020 07:31:32
Shappy

I hope your Grandad comes through this.

10 Mar 2020 19:45:53
So I hear that the FA might lift the ban on 3pm games for TV rights as they may play games behind closed doors. If the 3pm games are shown on TV, majority of supporters will go to the pub. How will this stop the spread? Also Manchester is so bloody cold it kills all known germs.

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 10 Mar 2020 20:57:00
I read earlier that they may also look into blocking the access that pubs have to stop that.

2.) 11 Mar 2020 12:01:19
You would have to be quite stupid to go to a pub atm so maybe this is just natural selection at work.

07 Mar 2020 14:52:47
If the Express is correct and Madrid are looking to offer £70 million for Dr Gea, we should snap their hands off now. I would take £50 million and promote Henderson and rotate him with Romero for the first few months until he is comfortable with the defence in front of him, it will be different to a training match. If we get £100 million for Pogba and £50 million for De Gea, that gives us £145 million to invest in the squad in the summer.

Cantonas seagull friend

{Ed047's Note - loving your maths mate and of course your optimism!

1.) 07 Mar 2020 15:36:40
Maths is spot on, we will need to pay someone £5 million to take Jones.

2.) 07 Mar 2020 18:22:33
Brilliant maths CSF. I think 5m for someone to take Jones coukd be a bargain!
I like both Henderson and Romero but rotation won't work we need to commit to Henderson if that is the choice and let him know he us our future
Definitely changes coming.

3.) 07 Mar 2020 20:09:34
“If the express is correct”. When are they ever correct?

4.) 07 Mar 2020 23:21:27
Every stopped clock DSG.

Anyone see Hendo's saves from today. Fantastic. Going to be some player.

5.) 08 Mar 2020 09:22:39
Why in the world would Madrid pay big money for De Gea when they've got a better GK in Courtois?

6.) 08 Mar 2020 11:01:20
Chelsea did when they signed kepa.

28 Feb 2020 13:27:33
I have not been to OT since we signed Bruno, but watching him on TV reminds me of when we Signed Cantona. He seems to have a bit of magic as well as arrogance/ confidence and it has raised the team and the supporters.

Cantonas seagull friend

1.) 28 Feb 2020 17:38:28
Was going to make exactly the same comparison lol.

I may be wrong, he never gives his maximum in a game unless it suits him. We keep getting rubbish info he will do his best for United and he is injured again. The lad is really unlucky, hope he doesn't run down his contract and suffer a really bad injury the day before he leaves on a free. He had been too good a servant for that bad luck to happen.
