Read that we have been linked to David brooks of Bournemouth, I'm from Sheffield and saw a lot of him at Sheffield Utd, great player, I'd take him and play him with Rashford instead of Lingard (already a better player in my opinion)

I really don’t understand the want to move Lingard on or have him out of the side. Played a huge role in the win against spurs. He’s versatile and has great movement. Yes, there are better players in world football than Lingard, but we’ve more important areas to address.

2.) 17 Jan 2019 12:22:29
Lingard has been brilliant for us for a few years now. He reminds me a bit of Park, putting in a good shift high up the pitch, willing to fill in the gaps, great at covering out of possession and finding space when in possession. He’s certainly done more than a £50m Fred this season. I think Lingard isn’t as appreciated as he should be partly because he didn’t cost silly money with a silly name.

3.) 17 Jan 2019 12:35:18
Better than lingard? A player with knack of scoring in big games especially finals and who was one of England's better players at the world cup. Or some random guy at a low league team.

4.) 17 Jan 2019 15:26:12
I get the feeling if he was called Lingardinho people might respect him a bit more. He is one of the first names on the team sheet in big games, especially big away games, a link between the midfield and attack with seemingly unlimited energy. There are better players out there than Jesse but he gets my vote over a lot of them.

Not saying Brooks isn't a good player, I am sure he is, looks a decent prospect, but at the moment he is nowhere near the level of Lingard never mind better.

5.) 17 Jan 2019 16:00:37
He does have a foreign name. Messi Lingard is awesome.

6.) 17 Jan 2019 16:13:06
Obviously I’m outnumbered when it comes to Lingard but like i say it’s just my opinion.
I don’t dislike Lingard but think he flatters to deceive at times, i love his energy and it’s clear to see he loves playing for Utd and yes he scores the odd good goal but overall i think his end product is hit and miss and think Brooke’s is a better all round player and will be a top player.
This is one of the things that’s good about football, everyone has an opinion.

7.) 17 Jan 2019 16:48:03
I agree he needs to be more consistent. But we've been saying that about most of the squad for 2-3 years. I think he's underrated. Brooks maybe one to keep an eye on but there's been too many like him move too soon and disappear.

8.) 17 Jan 2019 21:47:19
Lingard is currently my favourite United player. Been at the club most of his life, loyal, worked hard during several loan spells and is now reaping the rewards. The guy is a role model on the pitch to the youngsters at the club.

9.) 19 Jan 2019 13:50:29
For me, lingard stays! One of the first names on our starting 11.

10.) 19 Jan 2019 21:54:41
Lionel Jesse.

14 Jan 2019 20:36:49
Tony V leaving at the end of the season, I'd like to see wan bassaka of palace come in to compete with Dalot for the RB position and chilwell to compete with shaw for LB.

2smooth

1.) 14 Jan 2019 23:37:46
That would be the my ideal pair of signings 2smooth. Wan Bissaka has arguably been the best rb in the league this year. But being a palace boy it may be hard to prise him away. City will be all over him in the summer. I think shaw needs competition.

We need to have players fighting for each spot on the pitch. Greater competition within a squad produces higher performance levels and higher standards. Chilwell would be perfect. I actually think at this moment he’s better than shaw. I think shaw does need to improve positionally and his delivery / final ball. Hopefully that comes with more confidence and coaching.

2.) 15 Jan 2019 06:33:40
Wan Bissaka looks like a very good player and I'd happily sign him to compete with Dalot. Another worth looking at would be Ricardo Pereira at Leicester. He was mentioned last season and through the summer by a couple of people on here and Leicester did well to get him. He has been great this season and can play on the right wing too.

For left back I'd keep Ashley Young as cover for Shaw. That isn't my ideal situation as I'd prefer we went out and got another left back to compete with Shaw but I think we have other areas such like CB, RB, CM and RW which need to be addressed before left back does. I can't see us signing 6 or 7 players this summer who are in the first team squad.

3.) 15 Jan 2019 09:39:03
I see no point in having two young left backs competing for a spot. Shaw and Young for the left, and Dalot and a New right back to compete on that side would make more sense. Never quite sure why darmian has not quite made it - if you believe what you read there are some top Italian clubs chasing him, and he’s more than good enough as back up. He’s a good defender, just his distribution not quite good enough for a modern right back.

Tony V has had a great career at Utd, but you do get the sense it’s time to move on for him now for a new challenge.

4.) 15 Jan 2019 10:59:33
Both Dalot and Young are capable of playing at both RB and LB. The obvious issue with them is one is young and is learning while the question is how long can Young go on for. For me the solution is bringing in a full back who is a solid RB but who can comfortably cover LB. Then readdress the full back situation at the end of next season.

Ricardo Pereira or Cedric Soares would be good shouts. Both settled and proven EPL players. Neither would cost the earth.

For me we need a first choice CB partner for Lindelof, and a couple of midfielders. Which is likely to cost a fair amount.

I'm not so concerned by a RW, I think Lingard can be a great option there, plus we have a couple of great youngsters who could look to breakthrough over the next two seasons in Chong, Gomes and Greenwood.

5.) 15 Jan 2019 11:24:02
Park you really think City will chase Wan while they have Walker and Danilo? If I remember correctly Wan got his chance when TFM got injured at Palace, prior to that he (TFM) played quite well for them.

6.) 15 Jan 2019 12:44:24
Good shout that Shappy. Both great options and won't cost much, but then again its United so even stones cost us diamonds. Wonder what happened with Bertrand. Remember he was linked to us and he is a good option for Shaw to compete with. Are there no fullbacks in our academy?

7.) 15 Jan 2019 15:31:11
Mitchell having a great season with hearts last i read. Not seen him i don't watch as much of the Scottish league as i used to.

8.) 15 Jan 2019 20:19:58
Mitchell has been alright but defensively suspect and isn't going to make. it here - Hearts form has went off a cliff.

9.) 15 Jan 2019 20:19:43
I do mbd. I think pep doesn’t really fancy walker that much at the moment. Just my humble opinion of course but walker can be a bit of a liability. He’s got a mistake in him and is suspect defensively at times. He showed this against Chelsea when he switched off for kante’s goal. Don’t get me wrong he’s still a very good player and would walk into our side. But I think Wan Bissaka has a higher ceiling than him. Think city will be keeping tabs on him. Danilo is pretty average tbf.

10.) 15 Jan 2019 23:02:30
I've watched quite a bit of Pereira and Bassaka this season, as they've been in my dream team since the start of the season. Both are potentially very good. Bissaka definitely the better defensively, with Pereira better going forward. Personally, I think Pereira is going to be a beast of a player.

11.) 16 Jan 2019 04:04:19
Shaw, Pereira, Lindelof and Koulibaly could be a solid back 4.

12.) 16 Jan 2019 08:03:00
I forgot about pereira Stevie. He’s brilliant and great going forward.

Watching football these days makes me laugh, you get young fit players who get hardly touched and yet they roll around like they have been poleaxed, god help them if they come to my local on a Saturday night 😂.

1.) 25 Aug 2019 16:08:35
It's Joke but its been going on for years and its widely accepted tolerated and even encouraged.

25 Aug 2019 09:06:25
I've just watched the game on tv and I'm trying not to get MOTD fever, but what i saw it's not all doom and gloom, if Rashfords pen was an inch to the right it would have been a perfect spot kick but thems the margins, we'll scare anyone going forward, ddg is not at it lately and we've got to stop pandering to pogbas ego.
I still think ole is out of his depth but would love him to succeed.
We still need more strength in depth.
Buy Maddison in January, pay what they want for him, if we don't someone else will.

2smooth

1.) 25 Aug 2019 11:00:32
I think every fan wants Solskjaer to succeed, however, realistically it's unlikely. There are plenty of reasons why, not just whether Solskjaer is a good manager or not. Ultimately, whoever got the United job would likely be in a similar position to Solskjaer with the issues United clearly have with the playing staff and behind the scenes.

Despite all of the above, we're a better side than we were last year but haven't quite strengthened as much as we should have.

We don't seem to have much of a pattern to our play, it's all off the cuff with us hoping for Martial, Rashford or Pogba to produce some magic. Still not sure about us playing with a 10 without a proper defensive midfielder but if this is the system we persist with then Gomes deserves a chance. Lingard works hard but has very little end product so what do we have to lose?

09 Aug 2019 14:44:09
Regarding the youngsters, I'm a great believer that if you're good enough you're old enough, they're 17-20yr old have been working towards this for the last 10 years will be fit/ strong enough and play with no fear.
I for 1 can't wait, but i know when it gets tough I'll have to remind myself that Utd are a team in transition. GGMU.

2smooth

1.) 09 Aug 2019 15:35:26
What about Rashford and Lingard then mate. By this rate they will be 50 by the time they are good enough.

2.) 09 Aug 2019 16:49:02
UA, lingard maybe I understand he's 26 but Rashford is 21 so to put him in the same bracket is a bit daft.

3.) 09 Aug 2019 17:15:49
Wiggy i added Rashford because 2 smooth smoothly mentioned that at 17-20 they have been working towards it for 10 years so that makes it 11 year for Rashford and he still isn't ready.

4.) 09 Aug 2019 17:42:02
UA,

He looks pretty ready to me. We love youngsters at this club and then are so quick to knock them down. He’s played in almost every game since he broke into the team and has been in every England squad so seems like somebody rates the lad.

5.) 10 Aug 2019 02:26:07
I agree with the sentiment off your post 2smooth

I played as a 16 year old in a men’s league (not saying I was any great shakes) but my youthful exuberance and speed was a huge advantage. I know this is professional football but sheer speed, determination and the fearlessness that some young players have can be hard to combat.
I am looking forward to the youngsters who are given a chance taking it with both hands as Rashford, McSauce have done. If they do we will be much better for having that as part of our team make up.

07 Aug 2019 12:37:47
Got to admit i like the new stance of pulling out of players who don't really want to play for Utd and are just doing it for money, we don't want another di Maria.
We may not get the players the fans want but if we have to rely on more youngsters i for one will still be happy and still support them.
We don't want anymore mercenaries.

2smooth

1.) 07 Aug 2019 13:02:30
smooth,

Stop being so sensible, if players don't want to come the owners should pull their finger out and pay them whatever they want in order to make it impossible for them to turn us down. That has worked so well for us int he past. The players we have signed are good, we could have just done with 2 more.

2.) 07 Aug 2019 13:08:49
Or is it to show the world that we are after these type of players although we know we have no chance of signing them. What a dumb way of carrying out business.

3.) 07 Aug 2019 13:15:16
Or have we not enough people employed at the club, or is it just a pastime for them to spend all year scouting players, talking to clubs, talking to agents, surely someone has the brains to know who we want to fit in our team and plans.

4.) 07 Aug 2019 13:36:05
The club’s transfer team and scouting network should already have a very good idea if a player is likely to sign before they start negotiations. The fact that the club is only finding out that players like Dybala and Eriksen have no interest in signing in the last week of the window underscores the amateur transfer team we have.

5.) 07 Aug 2019 13:40:03
OR. 95% of everything we hear is just total media bo**ox.
And everyone seems to buy into it .

6.) 07 Aug 2019 13:48:49
The amount of people I’ve seen say this.
The people running our club really have some fans fooled.
Why are we “speaking” with Dybala or Eriksen if they don’t even want to be here. That is a joke.
We have had a whole season to scout players and understand if they want to join our club or not. We then have another few months to try and close these deals.
We are briefing the press that we’ve never been in for Bruno Fernandes to save face when we just won’t pay up and we’re then briefing them to say we’re “pulling out” of deals to sign players that rejected us. Embarrassing.

7.) 07 Aug 2019 14:24:12
It's well documented that we have an impet team when it comes to dealing with transfers.

8.) 07 Aug 2019 14:32:50
Everything we read in the press is 100% true ;)

9.) 07 Aug 2019 14:46:21
Why would anybody want to play for Manchester United right now? We have an inexperienced manager, an unbalanced squad and no distinguishable playing style. Our chances of winning anything anytime soon are incredibly slim and our best players want to leave. Add to that the pressure and expectation of playing for United and I’d expect there are very few players that genuinely want to play for us.

10.) 07 Aug 2019 15:06:34
I’m pretty sure the whole Dybala thing was pushed by Juve because of their interest in Lukaku.
An offer was made, Dybala declined, we walked away.
Not really that hard to understand surely.

11.) 07 Aug 2019 15:25:45
Redseven I’m pretty sure we made a fairly big signing just 2 days ago. He looked pretty happy to me.

12.) 08 Aug 2019 05:24:44
I’d be happy if somebody offered me nearly triple the salary for doing the same job.

21 Mar 2019 15:38:48
Just watched the program full English and really enjoyed it, two things baffle me though, how did le tiss not win more caps and how did razer ruddock get some and yet Bruce didn't
Fair play to razer though, he kept in shape, he hasn't changed since he was playing 😂.

2smooth

1.) 21 Mar 2019 16:46:26
Because le Tissier was perceived as a luxury player and lazy. He looked good on highlight reels and MOTD but often in games he was anonymous for 89 minutes before producing some magic and getting Southampton a late winner or equaliser. Perception is everything. Was he a player that could be accomdated at international level?

Ruddock is genuinely one of the worst players I have ever seen. I'm amazed anyone spent money on him. Just a wind up merchant and a bully. How Bruce never got capped is a mystery, would've thought was worth at least one cap.

2.) 21 Mar 2019 21:38:39
I think it was more due to who he played for why he didn't get more caps. He was class.

If it takes 60 million pay it because if we don’t someone will and we’ll end up with 2nd or 3rd choice and regret it, get him and we’ve got a class fullback for next 10 years, looks like 50 million going rate for a decent fullback now.

Can’t comment on the game today as i haven’t seen it but i said jesse only offers athleticism and the (very) odd goal, i do believe that utd should have stuck to the original plan and waited till end of season to appoint a manager, sadly it’s looking more like ole is not up to the job and i fear the worst if ole stays, I don’t like the hire em fire em but maybe it’s time (already) to let him go before it’s too late.
