Right I do not have any inside knowledge, just a hunch, but I am seriously of the impression that the shaw deal has gone quite as it has been completed and is to be announced by LVG post world cup

19jackc94

1.) I was reading from the paper today that Southampton will resist to sell Lallana (to Liverpool) and Shaw before world cup. of course this doesn't mean the deal cannot go through before hand.

Ed do you know of any interest in young Dutch midfielder Vilhena, seems to be a quality little player with bags of potential {Ed002's Note - Tonny Vilhena's performances this season has attracted the attention of Juventus but Feyenoord do not want to sell.}

was reading the other week about a 19year old brazilian playing for Santos whom goes by the name of Neilton apparentally this Kid is already supposed to be the new neymar and has a buy-out clause of only £5million. we where reported to have have intrest in the player aswell as chelsea but I have not heard anything for a few weeks, do you know anything about this Ed as if he is the new neymar I would love to get him for £5mil {Ed002's Note - It is a little bit more complicated than simply paying a "buy out" clause for Neilton. Chelsea approached Santos about Neilton before Christmas and there is interest from Porto, Braga and no doubt others. I don't know if the enquiry led anywhere.}

19jackc94

1.) Yh he's the next big thing that's suppose to come out of santos he even has the same hair style as neymar!

2.) The new Neymar? I'm yet to be overly impressed with the current Neymar as of yet.

TK-Red

3.) Could someone inform me of who is the next Neilton?

Just a quick post around buying ready made talent VS developing from our academy.

I see a lot of posts and media linking us with a RW, in particular Sancho, which would be a mouth watering prospect.

My only thinking is how would this affect Chong?

Would people prefer to get Sancho at the risk of loosing Chong?

19jackc94

1.) 10 Mar 2019 12:53:24
I think we could accommodate both of them especially if Sanchez and Mata both depart.

2.) 10 Mar 2019 12:59:17
In my opinion chong needs a couple of years of loan experience. 1 in championship or PL ( if anyone is interested) to get used to the pace of the English league and 1 year somewhere in Spain.
City has 2 world class players in almost all the positions and still I don't see players complaining or media coming out with stories of unrest. I don't think we should have any problem either if we buy someone for RW.

3.) 10 Mar 2019 15:50:11
I wouldn't hold city up as the example, how many first team minutes is Foden getting? There is not really a route into the city or Chelsea first team for young players, why they keep going to those teams is beyond me.

4.) 10 Mar 2019 21:45:15
It's a tough balancing act bring through youth players. One the one hand, you don't want to block their path entirely. On the other, you don't want it too easy for them. But in the end you have to make it competitive. They have to make it on merit. If Chong is good enough, then he needs to be patient and take his chance. Sancho is a fair bit ahead in his development and it's quite rare that someone so young, is playing regularly for a top club.

If you look at the class of 92, only Giggs was in the year as a 17 year old. The other lads were 19 and 20. There's no rush for chong right now. A loan move would do him good.

Seen a few posts about getting in an understudy for Matic and was curious who people would suggest for this role. (Internal or Purchase)

For me, although not direct like, I would look to Wilfred N’Diddi, the guy is a machine.

1.) 19 Feb 2019 12:08:01
Julian Weigl, Ruben Neves, Tanguy Ndombele are some of the midfielders we have been linked with.
Ideally we need a defensive midfielder who is dominant with good game reading and passing ability.

2.) 19 Feb 2019 12:15:18
I like Ndidi think he’s a brilliant player. Depends what type of style we are looking to play. I feel at times we lack someone to control the tempo of the game, especially against the big sides.

Matic has been great since ole has taken over. He’s played further forward and his passing range has been impressive. My personal favourite to replace him would be ndombele. They guy is so talented, can dribble, pick a pass and tackle. Of course the dream is Kante but unlikely to happen. I’m also a fan of doucoure.

3.) 19 Feb 2019 13:00:25
Ndidi is a great player, however, I'm not sure if he starts most weeks for us. He is great at being a distruptive player in front of the back four. Making tackles, interceptions and winning headers.

Yet when the ball is at his feet he is too limited a player for the top level of the game to be starting every week. His passing is soild and unspectacular. He can't control the pace or tempo of a game. He is a reactive player rather than a proactive player.

He would have been an ideal player to have against PSG, especially when we had our backs to the wall in the second half. But he doesn't add enough going forward to play in 80% of our games in the league.

I feel we are better off going for a deep-lying playmaker who can sit in front of the back four and dictate the tempo and drop back into defence when we are stretched.

Casemiro would be the dream signing, Weigl is another to consider.

4.) 19 Feb 2019 13:47:19
Ruben Neves, Premier league proven and has some goals in him as well.

5.) 19 Feb 2019 14:46:41
Neves is a brilliant player and is only getting better. i'd take him every day of the week.

But, is he a like for like replacement for matic?

6.) 19 Feb 2019 15:23:05
Neves is another who would be great.

{Ed002's Note - £100M for an understudy?}

7.) 19 Feb 2019 15:55:17
Any chance Chelsea would sell kante?

{Ed002's Note - Yes but MU has no interest in him.}

8.) 19 Feb 2019 16:39:00
I see Declan Rice as a good prospect. adaptable to both defence and midfield, still mouldable. probably cost lots of money but the good ones generally do.

9.) 19 Feb 2019 17:08:39
Declan Rice or Ndidi for me.

Could be interesting to see what TfM could do there too.

10.) 19 Feb 2019 17:20:25
Disappointing that United have no interest in Kante. Best defensive midfielder in the world by a mile. I'm assuming his price would also be very high but he is the best in his position so it would be expected.

Outside punt on Lucas Tousart? He's looked good at Lyon from what I have seen and plays alongside Ndombele but may not require £80m to get him?

11.) 19 Feb 2019 17:54:17
Fellaini.

12.) 19 Feb 2019 18:17:35
Let it go, Mort. He's gone 😁.

13.) 19 Feb 2019 18:47:50
Would have loved Neves before he went to wolves, would love him even more now, young enough to be an understudy for matic.
Rice also a contender.
Money no object kante, Saul niguez.

14.) 19 Feb 2019 20:55:33
Casemiro with shadow Chem is up there with the best.

15.) 19 Feb 2019 20:52:39
Shame ed. Kante, for me, is exactly what we need.

16.) 19 Feb 2019 23:20:02
Any idea why we aren't in for Kante ED? If you have the time and inclination of course.

{Ed002's Note - For the same reason Manchester United are not "in for" Dylan Dykes, there is no interest in him.}

17.) 20 Feb 2019 05:11:20
Why would Chelsea sell the world's best defensive midfielder to a rival?

18 Jul 2016 11:14:34
Before anyone is quick to reply and shoot the idea down please just take a few minutes to think the idea through.

Michael Carricks long term replacement Danny Drinkwater.

I was personally hoping it would be Daley blind but appears he may be sold.

19jackc94

1.) 18 Jul 2016 11:39:17
Hes at a bigger club, don't see why he would take the step down.

2.) 18 Jul 2016 13:25:32
It is yet to be seen how effective Drinkwater is without Kante beside him. But anyway, he was a player deemed surplus to requirements and sold for a pittance. I repeat my earlier post that Utd needs to learn the lessons from Spanish clubs like RM and Barcelona about how to negotiate suitable terms for squad members moving on and keep under contract its promising youngsters.

My take on the Pogba situation.

Imo he is a superb talent whom I would hand a blank cheque to juve for. A classy player on the verge of becoming world class which will come with consistency.

A lot of people are saying that he wants to play for Madrid and to that I say you find me a player that doesn't, Madrid is a very attractive option to many players. However this is in the current situation, if mourinho manages to work his magic and regain Manchester United status as domestic and European powerhouses then why would any player ever want to leave.

The only problem I have with the Pogba deal is I still believe another midfielder will need to be purchased within the defensive enforcer mold such as a kante, William carvalho etc etc to allow pogba the the freedom he thrives within.

For the record I think the thought of a 3 Frenchman mid of Kante Schniederlin and Pogba is a naughty midfield combo that would have everything we have lacked for the past however many seasons.

1.) 03 Jul 2016 14:58:33
I 100% agree with the post.
It's true he's going to cost a lot, but if Mourinho think he's perfect for what he is planning to do then why not?
We may be massively overpaying, but we usually do.
What I feel is Jose realises that this year the PL is going to be extremely tough.
Chelsea are under an awesome manager, with 10-12 players out on loan, with 3-4 of them who could be regulars.
Liverpool showed flashes of brilliance last season and I expect them to be a tough opponent, with Mane, Zielinski or other signings they are getting through. Matip was one of the best defenders in Germany.

Tottenham and Leicester till now have had the sameish squad and won't be pushovers as I expect both of them to crash out in the groups.

Arsenal always get the top 4, and their midfield is one of the best around, as I rate Xhaka and Elneny quite highly.

Man City under Pep.
Everton would also improve massively, if they someone like Mata, as he guarantees 10 goals a season if played regularly.

What I feel is Jose realises this and feels the midfield comprises of many players who are old or lacking confidence.
Pogba would add steel to the midfield as he can play all sorts of roles.

Schweni and Carrick would not play much, Blind sucks at midfield, Rooney is an experiment there.
Herrera showed brilliance in the latter half of first season.
Schneiderlin has been okay.
Fellaini is a goner. So seems to be mata.
If we actually play 3 in midfield, a trio of Schneiderlin, Herrera, Schweni/ Carrick, Rooney and Pogba would be brilliant.

I will most likely be ridiculed for this suggestion as he is not the big name people crave but i can't believe we have not been linked with Ashley Williams for CB.

Statistically he is one of the best CBs in the Prem, he's a vocal leader, he's a warrior who would run through a brick wall for the sake of the team and imo would jump at the chance to step up and play for United and Jose.

1.) 30 Jun 2016 09:32:12
Not a bad shout that mate we could do a lot worse.

2.) 30 Jun 2016 10:13:16
Really not sure if he would come. I think Swansea are his local team, could be wrong. He is probably one of their best paid players due to the media linking him with arsenal/ Liverpool for years. He is their captain. He seems like a loyal and happy guy from his press interactions. Don't think Swansea would entertain a bid.

I guess we could throw some serious money at him but at his age I think their are probably better alternatives. He is a great player though and would have been perfect when Rio/ vidic left us for his loud commanding voice and no nonsense defending.

3.) 30 Jun 2016 10:24:21
When we are targeting players like Zlata and Pogba I don't think Williams cuts it.

4.) 30 Jun 2016 11:36:12
If you ever. Searched through my posts you would see I have said this many times on here. Ashley is a commanding CB, good in the air, good with the ball at his feet, a leader and organiser. He could easily play at a higher level and wouldn't cost the earth. Walk into the top sides in the premier league.

Fresh you statement is everything that's wrong with modern football. He's not a flashy enough name for you. DI Maria, Falcoa, how did they turn out?

5.) 30 Jun 2016 13:16:16
Why exactly fresh?

I would take him in a heartbeat, he's always so overlooked within the real team due to ronnie and bale. Good news is he is a massive red aswell so as long as we can convince him we have plans to be back in CL next year then fingers crossed

Guys I live in Spain so I do get to watch Isco a hell of a lot and let me say the guy is a alien, he is out this world.

An amazing little footballer with crazy ball control. In a possession based team he would be incredible.

However saying this with our current team I beleive he'd be a luxury not a neccessety
