Someone able to explain to me how that handball was given yesterday when Wan Bissaka's trailing arm was pretty much by his side at contact (moved from oustretched to his body, close to body at point of contact) and his body was close to the ball, imo very harsh.
Then Grealish stood in a wall 10 yards away with an outstretched arm (arm even moves to the ball), no penalty given as Grealish was beginning to move his arm towards his body?
What's more annoying is not a single pundit or commentator mentions the incident at the same ground less than 24hrs previous. All that was said was it's a clear penalty by Wan Bissaka. WTF is going on? Some of the penalties against us lately have been very strange, and I include the 2 Chelsea ones where VAR was searching quite a while for contact and still not clear! I don't think many would have been given had the referee not pointed to the spot on every single occasion making them difficult to overturn.

Superb for me both awb and grealish were pens.
But the law is unclear and subjective so not everybody will see it the same.
I thought both were pens.
I've seen them not given as often as given.
It's so inconsistent.
I have to say var the way it's applied is making the frustration worse for me.

AWB’s arms were all over the place, it was a pen imo.
The real question should be why we have given away 3 very late penalties in our last 3 or 4 games. AWB being responsible for 2 of them.
Grealish should probably have been given a pen, and Ashley Young should also have conceded a pen yesterday.
So another question is why do we still have so much inconsistency and a group of referees / VAR who seemingly lag behind the standard of officiating on the continent.

I think because the referee is making the decision in those incidents where in other games the referee is'nt making a decision and waiting for VAR reviews.

Yeah then they usually back him and don't send him to the monitor like in grealish case.
It's the wording I don't like.
'Clear and obvious error' if the ref didn't see it he didn't see it. They missed stuff all the time.
Var work under the assumption the ref sees the incident and doesn't think it was handball or foul. So the stick with his ruling but so often the refs miss stuff in the blink of an eye. So var then stick with an onfield call that the ref didn't even see. Its daft.

The rules aren’t clear and concise especially in terms of handball etc, in other areas where they are clear they aren’t being applied consistently. That’s where the frustration and anger comes in and I get that totally.

If they were injured during a week of training, in training then it is right to question what is going on. This season we seem to have had numerous training injuries, especially in the latter part of the season where the manager is bemoaning the effects of the numbers of games on players.
I do think questions should be addressed to ETH directly why this is happening.

I read that Kambwala trains more than most and has a great attitude. He’s been fit for most of the season so it’s not right to put this on the manager. Although that’s the trend on here, so it must be his fault.

Kambwala does extra warm up to avoid injuries. Gets in first team and gets injury in training. It is three of them not one unfortunate example. The manager has questions to answer why so many training injuries.

It's getting tedious you read.
This whole site, every time nothing goes the way, is somewhat tedious as it is predictable the blame will be levelled at eth.
Seriously just stop supporting united if you can't handle the process.
Injuries are happening to a lot of teams, it isn't exclusive to United.

There are a lot if muscle injuries more than any other club and over twice as many as 14 clubs and three times as many as half of those.
Our impact injury stats are in the bottom five of the league in terms of players lost to impact injuries.
Something we are doing is not having a good effect on too many of our players.
It would be churlish to blame the blame solely at eth imo. However they need to pinpoint what is the root cause. Trends like we are experiencing and the numbers don't lie is not down to luck or part of a process.
I don't think city players train any less intensity than we do but have 70% less muscle injuries over the past 2 seasons.
Maybe it's not what they are doing it could be something they are not doing.

Like Tumble says it’s not just ETH but questions should be asked what is going on.

My issue isn't that you ask questions, it is that you directly bring it back to have a crack at eth.
We've seen this before over the past decade or so, it is rinse and repeat.
Backroom setup is a shambles, Blane the manager.
Transfers didn't work out blame manager,
The milk has turned, blame the manager.
It is boring to listen to.
The club is a mess, it will take time, it will take longer if we keep chipping and changing.

Injuries or not, team the size of United should still have enough to not let a lower division side back from 3-0 its not the first time either and even with injuries there should still be a style of play and this so called process should be showing some shoots, but our coaching team appears to make every player worse…… even some of the players you all moan about are not this bad…. its beyond a joke the sooner SJR puts the club out its misery the better….
I fail to see how anyone keeps trying to hide ETH and coaching staff shortcomings down to injuries, I even see someone say once ETH puts the team out it’s up to them, clearly they don’t understand professional football, players are put out with instructions if that player is not carrying out those instructions it’s the managers job to change it for someone who does carry out the instructions, that tells me along with ETH ramblings of he can see the improvement that ETH is biggest part of the problem, mind you I been saying that since Day 1 of his tenure and was ridiculed for it, ….

You possibly hit the nail on the head maverick, when you stated our coaching team makes every player worse. is that the area that needs addressing?
Prior to eth appointment, I recall at least one Ed stating that eth was a good choice. I still maintain he is the right choice, but with the wrong setup. This is being addressed as we speak.
Be patient, it has been 2 years for eth, I think we even have OGS longer.

Poor Silva stood there all alone on the penalty spot waiting to see if his own fans would throw him the ball back. Nothing like building the tension for your own player. Priceless!

Pottor failed at Chelsea due to the Todd Boehly takeover. Pocchitino has struggled this season at Chelsea aswell.
I'd prefer to focus on Potters time at Brighton over his time at Chelsea. He didn't t help coming into a team where the owner was playing football manager and expecting the new manager to make make things work.
I'd prefer Potter over Southgate as a manager.
Southgate clearly has his favourites who are prioritised not matter how poor or how little game time they've had.
I'd love to see Amorin or Nagelsmann come in.

Most educated people with a reasonable amount of emotional intelligence understand that a failure in one Job does not mean failure in the next.
There are anomalies in nearly every career.
Potter would not be my preferred choice but what do I know I've never worked for or with him nor has he ever worked for me. I don't know nearly enough about him
I'd be happy to follow our new DOF's or ceo's decision that's why we wanted them appointed.
From the outside looking in he didn't do well at chelsea but did well in his other jobs. Only a fool looks at 1 piece of evidence to make a judgement in an area where they have no real knowledge. He was a bit rabbit in the headlights at Chelsea imo but no more than eth is at united.
Potter has experience with our proposed new dof so that would help if he came in.

I agree with maverick on this one I'm not that fussed who comes in tbh as I don't know what the criteria is. I'm sure the new guys will have that all in hand.

Man City haven't made too many mistakes in the transfer market in recent years. But surely they must be ruing letting Cole Palmer leave last summer.
He's without a doubt been the best young player in the league this season.
Absolutely phenomenal, he has 9 goals and 1 assist in his last 4 games alone and has to be the most in form player in the league right now.
20 goals and 9 assists in 23 starts and 4 sub appearances in the EPL this season.
It's not even as if Man City didn't have a warning that he could be about to break out this season as he also has 2 goals in two games for City in the Super cup and the community shield before joining Chelsea. So the signs were there before they agreed to sell him on.
He's a player I'd love to see at United in a couple of years time. Palmer right, Garnacho left and Højlund through the middle.

A great season and a great player who Chelsea should build their team around.
Regrettably, he has broken out, and for that reason, I'd prefer we find the next Cole Palmer. We have enough coming through to potentially already have them on board. Figuring out the pathways for existing players is arguably more important than future transfer targets and/ or managerial appointments.

Don’t see why Palmer would leave Chelsea for Utd in a couple years time. Would require a meteoric rise in performances over the next couple of years at Utd, along with Chelsea remaining poor. Plus Utd have to get their finances in order given his price rn is £100m and will only increase if he remains performing at this level.

With City these things will happen even by a well run club. I am sure Pep would have love to have kept him but when you consider what Chelsea payed for an un proven player it probably made sense to do the deal.
Also as a well run club City have players that are already in his position and looking at the table are not exactly doing too badly this season.
I think Palmer is an excelent player, skill and arrogance that is needed to be top quality. Unfortunately I don't think we will ever see him play for us even if he is a boyhood fan (sorry if i am wrong with this) .

It would take £150m to get him out of Chelsea I would guess. He’s probably on an 8 year contract with them.
At the moment it looks far more likely he will see success quicker at Chelsea than United.
I think Chelsea are only a couple of decent players away from being a really good team.

One bit of good news, today is the 17th birthday of Shea Lacey and he can, of course, now sign a professional contract.
It was thought it was to be done today, but he will officially do so tomorrow (suspect tomorrow for promotional reasons) Will be great news to get it sorted.
He has only returned to training this week after being out injured for some months, but he was called into 1st team training for the first time.
Wonder when he will get get first opportunity in 1st team, wouldn't be surprised to see it next season.

The kid looks a talent, although he might be a 2-3 years away from really breaking through into the first team as he is a little lightweight and will need to fill out a bit to be ready for the physicality of the EPL.
Very excited about him though, he has that Phil Foden/ Cole Palmer type feels about him and his game.

Shappy, yes, quite right, he does need to fill out a bit but as they say if you're good enough etc etc!
I think he is potentially a generational talent, long way to go obviously, but I am sure we will start to see him get opportunities next season.
One of the most important things will be keeping his feet firmly on the ground and staying focussed. His family background seems strong and seemingly they are well aware of this and are keen to see it happen, strange in a way, with them all being Liverpool fans.

Manchester United has become an impossible job! A graveyard to enthusiasm, innovation, hunger and success. Devoid of leadership, purpose and direction, infected by apathy, mediocrity and incompetence. No longer the Theatre of Dreams but now a place of decay, neglect and indifference.
A decade of poor decisions, a lack of vision and purpose has resulted in an collection of over paid, pampered, egotistical, charlatans that care more about making excuses and protecting their own brand than taking accountability for their own performance.
A dressing room of blaggers and blame shifters, not fit to wear the shirt but eager to point the finger and shift responsibility have permeated the very core of this once revered institution.
A lack of hunger, intensity and desire, words synonymous with Man Utd for over a decade regardless of manager. Downing tools, blame shifting, excuses. The same things happen, the same words are used as each new hope fails to instil any kind of discipline or standards at this once great Club. EtH is just the latest excuse berated by his own players, the media of some of his own supporters for believing he could make a difference.
Anyone that has watched Utd avidly for the past decade understands the problem and knows it can't simply be solved by the sacking of yet another manager. Years of neglect, apathy and incompetence cannot be purged by the dismissal of one man.
What we need now is clear heads and clarity of thought. A vision for the future, an identity, a philosophy, a purpose, a plan. We need elite decision makers and senior leaders to galvanise the Club and give it purpose. Knee jerk reactions and emotional decisions will only prolong the recovery.
How do we want to play? What is our style? What are our values? What do we stand for? Every new manager, coach, player and member of staff should be carefully selected and recruited that share those standards!
Ineos must not make the same mistakes of the past. They must understand salvation cannot be found in one man but the calibration of experts all working tirelessly towards the same purpose and goal. They must implement their philosophy and vision. They must recruit the right people. They must create a coherent plan and devise a roadmap to get there. They must root out incompetence and indifference. They must dismantle player power and eradicate the excuses and blame shifters. What they do in the coming months may just define the next decade.

It's not an impossible job at all.
Dlib they know what they are doing. Not every decision they make will be correct but they will do the right things they have experience and expertise what they mustn't do is listen to rhetoric from people that don't have the 1st clue what they are talking about.
They need subject matter experts they are on acrecruitment drive to fill key roles but they must not be deterred by know it all, know nothings.
You cried here for years wanting a dof and new set up so let them do their jobs. Why you think you your the man to tell experts how to do their job is beyond me.
You just want what you want you have a very high opinion of your own opinions which are based on what knowledge exactly?
Opinions are all valid but you need to understand not to get too attached to your opinion when it's based on no practical knowledge of the job that needs doing.
Just because you feel something must be done does not make it necessarily true.

Dlib I am not meaning to be negative I have no intimate knowledge either but we have a chance now better than we have had for a long time.
Sjr has been talking the right talk imo.
They have made some good moves in recruitment. They don't have their get under the table yet.
They will need time to u destiny what they must do.
None of us know what they must do.
They need time let's not judge them on the jobs we feel they must do until they understand the priorities themselves.
Surely can't tell them what they must do without knowing the details of so many situations they have on the table.
All any football fan has is hope and belief.
I hope that the investors help turn our fortunes around and at this time I believe they will. I won't agree with lots of stuff that they decide and do. Least of all keep eth in place but if they do it means they are seeing something I'm not and I'll accept that and bow to their greater knowledge. And go back to hoping that whatever they are seeing appears soon 🤣
Maybe it's how I read your posts but they come across to me and my perception is that you are very set on what must happen and questioning decisions before they are made insisting on what you know is the right thing to do. I find that difficult to understand when you don't know most of the details and there could be 100 reasons why your wrong. You call it an impossible job I call it the opportunity of a lifetime for the right manager. I don't understand how any Manchester United supporter wouldn't think that. Its just maybe how we see things differently. I support the club, brand and institution as much as I do the team

I hope that in 12 months that we can see some improvements in all areas but some must come before others are even addressed.
The task they face is monumental and that's even before they are the team issues.
Let's hope we can beat Coventry and all go into the final with a bit of hope if not too much belief🙈.

Can anyone shed some light on what is the situation? How/ why does ten hag keep picking rashford?

Too many people following the toxic twitter crowd these days. Rashford has very obviously been instructed to “cheat” as the out ball and main attacking threat in behind. If he wasn’t doing his job he would be benched. He’s been poor, but people have built such an agenda on him based on these horrid twitter personalities spreading 15 second clips and pushing crap, it’s everywhere. Rashford has always worked hard his entire career, and every player interviewed alway gives his name as the player who works hardest in training. He tops the list of sprints of anyone in the team, but his instruction is to stay forward and make those sprints in attack.
People always confuse poor form with something else entirely when it comes to big name players.

Nonsense Chris. The guy doesn't give a stuff. Have you ever watched for any period of time during a game? He just wanders around in a half arsed way. Might have a little jog now and again. Sort of pretends to close someone down but not really. Totally avoids anything like physical contact if he can help it.
He might be the outball but he could also work hard for the team at the same time.

Chris that's simply not true not every player ever interviewed says rashford is the hardest working player in training you are either mistaken or lying.
I have always been a big rashford fan but I'm sorry to say for one reason or another he has been really poor this year. He has fallen into 2 or 3 separate disciplinary issues this season which in itself is not the end of the world but coupled with his lack of effort terrible demeanor and awful return on the pitch it's very obvious he is not a happy camper.
Does he have issues with eth. I'd say probably I'm guessing a lot of do so that maybe the root cause who knows?
Reportedly eth is a difficult man to get along with. I can see why. I wouldn't like to work for or with him.
