With Frenkie De Jong moving to Barcelona in the summer, do Man Utd hold a genuine interest in signing Ivan Rakitic?
{Ed002's Note - Ivan Rakitic wants to stay but needing funds Barcelona will make him available but may seek a fee too high for buyers for a player who will be 31. Inter has shown an interest but have now turned elsewhere. I am not aware of any MU approach at this time.}

At 31 if you factor in wages and transfer fee it makes no sense for us to sign him.
We have enough problems in the transfer market let alone trying to naively solve other clubs problems as well.

He is a decent option to add strength in depth.
Proven quality player of the highest level.
And still has loads of energy in his game.
He could offer solid 3 years for us while Garner develops side by side.

No disputing his qualities as player even though they are clearly on the wane now, but his wages will suggest that he is a first team player.
Havent we learnt from sanchez that buying players on the decline on massive wages isn't sensible.
Garner has matic and herrera already ahead of him, if he is good enough we need to make space in the sqaud for him now and get him regular gametime.
