With the performances of last year. gap from city and evolution to Liverpool, I think we had plenty of catching up to do this summer. But so far it look very quite, even out goings are not considerable against which we could expect new arrivals. God knows what they are planning. If we end window without a proper left back and right side attacker atleast we will surly face a repeat performances of last season.

Agree2 Disagree6

We'll be lucky to finish top 4 if the current trajectory is maintained. We were fortunate last year with Chelsea being in turmoil, Arsene running his course and Liverpool having other priorities. Spurs will improve as well this year and I think Everton will come strong (I thought this last year tbh) .

We achieved 2nd, but we didn't look like the 2nd best team, you only get one year like that in my view.

21 Jul 2018 18:42:22
So excuses for everyone else but we couldn't possibly get any better?

21 Jul 2018 18:48:35
Agreed mumbles. The paranoia and self loathing his hard to stomach.

We finished second because everybody else was crap not because we deserved it. Total nonsense.

21 Jul 2018 21:01:07
Eric and Mumbles, literally spot on. Found it funny how they said every other team was poor and and that was the only reason we finished second. Hypocrisy and irony is literally amazing, criticising Jose for being negative yet all they do is moan constantly, our 'supporters' of the club👏🏻. They don't even bother listening to his conferences to see what he said exactly, just like to read the obviously biased headline to it and then run amok.

The evolution of Liverpool? They came 4th last season. We are only made out to be much worse than we are due to our style. The window isn’t shut, if we finished with alderweiald, bale and Sandro it would be one of the best in previous years. Let’s not compare ourselves to other teams when our business isn’t done.

22 Jul 2018 05:46:45
Scholes_18_18, and still City won the title because of genious Pep not because other teams were poor.

Not defending Mou and Manutd but other teams being poor seems applicable only to Utd and Mou.

Enjoy your posts beast, you know the game well but think you are talking rubbish there. It’s as if you enjoy being pessimistic sometimes. The table dosent lie and whether we played adventurous free flowing football all year or not that dosent matter we were the 2nd best team over 38 games. If you want to make excuses for other teams short comings for why they didn’t finish ahead then you carry on though.

22 Jul 2018 09:44:26
Yes Mumbles - did you not see the words "current trajectory", they will all be stronger. What was our excuse for last season BTW?

Of course we could buy in the areas we need to strengthen, Jose could realise he is managing Utd not Stoke and some of our high-profile players could live up to their hype - but at the moment they haven't happened, so the other clubs I mentioned look stronger than they were last year to me - which doesn't bode well as we were lucky to get 2nd in my opinion.

22 Jul 2018 09:55:54
Stretford - thanks but I disagree in part. (I appreciate I can be Dr. Doom at times) . However I do think out of all the teams challenging we are the ones with the most organic work to be done, the other clubs had better excuses or have strengthened more than we have (or look like they will) .

If we put our likely starting 11 down on paper against the other teams (bar Everton) we look weaker in key positions, then couple that with Jose bringing the same old grind to the table, it means we need a lot of new world class players to make up for it imo.

I'm worried that Jose didn't seem to learn much from his first season in charge as last year was very similar to the first year performance wise. We got 2nd but we were awful to watch most games, if we perform how we did last year (no evidence anything has changed yet), then we are in big trouble.

We need to see more activity, players brought in and settled ASAP, player surplus to requirements leaving ASAP - Manager seemed just the same in his recent presser as well, so no sign of a change in demeanor there either.

As a staunch Utd fan, I'm concerned that issues are not being addressed quickly enough or even being identified.

22 Jul 2018 10:34:57
Yes. evolution. The football they played last season was amazing. and current strengthening will only make them batter.

Have some sportsman spirit. If your enemy do well. be humble and accept that they did well.

Which position they finished doesn't mean anything when gap between them and us are smaller than gap between us and city.

22 Jul 2018 14:33:18
Hold on who have Liverpool bought? A guy who after getting bombed out of 2 big clubs was relegated with Stoke. An unknown kid who most hadn't heard of 18 months to 2 years ago. A keeper from a country hardly renowned for producing world class keepers. And a utility guy who no one else was interested in signing. Given what they've spent the pressure has to be on klopp and we've seen he can't handle pressure.

22 Jul 2018 14:44:17
And what have the rest done? City's brought another attacking player the didn't need. Chelseas signing another highly combustible Italian manager. Arsenal haven't exactly set the pulses racing but could be the danger team. Spurs haven't done anything. Yet were worse than all of them.

22 Jul 2018 14:50:29
Harsh Mort, apart from Shaqiri, the other signings are excellent, they have a team good enough to win the league, let's hope they go trophyless though lol.

22 Jul 2018 15:01:22
Maybe they do. But how some people are talking they've won it already. Three of those players are new to the league and have to settle. What if Allisson does a Taibi? What if its too much for Keita?

22 Jul 2018 15:25:13
Who's talking as if Liverpool have won it already?

Are you denying they the Champions League finalists have strengthened further? Each one of those outfield signings (even Shak) would have improved us. They also play the game the right way, fun to watch. Bringing in youth as well. They look better prepared than us thus far.

22 Jul 2018 16:05:00
WHAT youth have they brought through beast? Apart from TAA.

22 Jul 2018 18:06:16
Bringing in Youth I said mate, Gomez, Robertson (I suppose), TAA, Keita is young as well.

We are playing Valencia and Young as full backs as it currently stands.

How about the other 80% of my post is that to be disputed as well?

22 Jul 2018 18:31:20
In that case, Rashford, McTominay, Dalot, Martial don't count?

22 Jul 2018 18:46:54
this is what happens when there is no EPL football. i can't wait for the season to start ;)

22 Jul 2018 19:41:18
TAA is garbage. The rest they've bought.

22 Jul 2018 20:10:25
Why is youth assumed as being better? In 99% of cases it really isn’t.

23 Jul 2018 19:46:28
Scouser alert🤦🏻‍♂️.
Think beast speaks some sense. The richest club in the country should be out there dealing there way out of the mess. I know some of you will say you finished 2nd and we won nothing. You’d be right but You be kidding yourselves too. Chelsea gave up, Arsenal reached the end of there cycle we couldn’t defend a lead ( hence big money vvd an alisson) and spurs well they was spurs, season too long for them. Also Mort your daft if you think TAA is crap. Wet behind the ears yes not crap.
