Reports Fred has completed his medical and will be announced tomorrow. Diogo Dalot is also expected to complete a move to United next week. Good start to the window.

Agree13 Disagree1

04 Jun 2018 20:15:48
What do you know about Dalot to know it’s a good start?

04 Jun 2018 20:22:03
Perhaps dan19 is putting his faith in jose's managerial/ recruiting skills.

I realise there are FAR more qualified world class managers on here but still, jose is a decent sunday league manager.

04 Jun 2018 20:45:47
Stand Jose could sign kimmich as right back and you would still find a way to fault him. Truth is we don’t know much about dalot and we have no clue how he will turn out. By all accounts he is very highly rated and had interest from other big clubs. I have faith that the club and the scouting team is doing their due diligence. Could be a really shrewd buy. Only time will tell.

04 Jun 2018 22:50:20
Surely it's a good start in terms of target identified and signed with the minimum of fuss.

That can only bode well for the players' settling in period.

04 Jun 2018 23:20:26
If we think dalot and fred is a good start then I think we are in trouble. Darmin didn't work, lindoff, how many more players how much time do they need 4 or 5 years,
If we signed toby then I would say that's a good start, bale even.
There's a long window there yet.

04 Jun 2018 23:20:34
My point is proved. Dalot has made 6 fist team appearances. Apparently he’s a good buy.

04 Jun 2018 23:36:20
It’s the 4th of June and we’ve got 2 signings nearly completed. Dalot or Fred mightn’t be the marquee signings some of you want but it’s a start. Sanchez was a big name signing and we know how that’s working out. Fred was linked to City a few months back and I could imagine if it was them who was signing him. Our fans would complain about City making movement in the market and us not. I appreciate this season wasn’t fantastic and not everyone is a fan of Jose but we’re going to have to like it or lump it so stop moaning and get behind the team and the players he chooses to buy. I apologize for the long winded rant but it’s getting boring reading negative comments all the time.

05 Jun 2018 01:47:51
Dan, if you think your post was long-winded, we'll need to introduce you to Shappy :)

05 Jun 2018 03:15:44
I know ziltch about Dalot except he is meant to be highly sought after, one for the future methinks, as for Fred, I’ve seen only glimpses but he has been getting plaudits from all areas, City wanted him and I’m if City had signed him there’d be posts saying how city have signed a brilliant upgrade on Fernandinho and are moving ahead of us further 😂.

05 Jun 2018 07:35:14
Leahy we're not saying yes! We've signed dalot and Fred, what a start that is! We're saying we have identified our targets and signed them. I'll pass judgement on the success of the players when they actually start, you know, playing. But for now our manager, who has improved us since he took over, has signed two players that he considers to make our squad better.

How is this not a good start?

05 Jun 2018 08:41:05
Jose signs 29 year olds and gets slated for not buying up and coming young talent.

Jose signs a young up and coming rb and he still gets slated.

The guy can't win either way.

05 Jun 2018 09:13:09
It seems we are not even allowed to get excited or pleased for a new signing anymore?

05 Jun 2018 09:18:10
Big pete, ole gunnar, were not big names but great signings. i'd say the club would be better off without some of our so called supporters to be honest.

05 Jun 2018 09:41:32
Here here Ken.

05 Jun 2018 09:45:26
12 days. players for the future is great, my concern even though it's early in the window is the first team. We are as a team miles off the best European teams.

05 Jun 2018 09:50:36
Our Club would be a much happier place without several of these "Supporters", Ken. Vidic, Evra i don't think anyone even heard of these names when they were signed but turned out decent. I bet even if we signed DeBruyne and Sane from City, some won't be happy. Dismal.

05 Jun 2018 10:02:27
Bang on U A.
Jose is the manager and going to be the manager next season.
Id rather have jose stay at the club and shed the toxics😂.

05 Jun 2018 10:32:58
Spot on ken.

05 Jun 2018 10:40:04
Dalot has 9 assists last season from what I read. If he did that in 6 games I’ll be very happy, but then again I read he’s played 26. How about we give him a chance, same with Fred. The messiah Guardiola wanted him in January, but now Mourinho gets him so I’m sure he’s now an underwhelming signing.

05 Jun 2018 11:12:13
Evra had just played in a CL final, was named league 1 young player of the year and was in the team of the season .
Big Pete had just won the UEFA euros been named in the team of the tournament and was voted UEFA Gk of the year when we bought him .

Got to laugh at the toxic tag, shame people can't support the team and players as much as the manager or even as much as players we might buy .
#joseunited.

05 Jun 2018 11:13:05
Couldn’t agree with you anymore Ken. I’ll be honest I didn’t really expect a RB in this window. But Dalot could be perfect. Valencia in my eyes isn’t finished yet but a game every week or 2 games every week killed him. I think it’s the perfect time for someone like Dalot to sign and get gradually molded into the team. Who knows he mightn’t work out but let me be optimistic. Some people need to remember there’s still a long window ahead.

05 Jun 2018 11:25:20
Its not about supporting the manager jrec. People are trying to support the club and that includes the manager. Everything the guy does is absolutely hammered by a clique of posters. The constant negativity is killing the site.

05 Jun 2018 11:29:07
Ken what is toxic, is it someone that slagged off Rooney every game he played, someone that slags off martial, someone that slags off fellani, just some players to name a few. I'm just curious.
At the present moment our first team isn't good enough, we have seen a lot of players go through United with potential that aren't near good enough,

05 Jun 2018 11:39:31
Jred people who support the manager also criticise him when he deserves it. Problem is a certain section of the fans only criticise and find the negative even when there is none. We are close to signing two players and some fans are expressing their happiness at it. Yet they get shut down.

You are one of the first people who jumps on people that criticise smalling/ young or any other player saying they are not supporting the club. Yet when people criticise the manager solely that’s ok? This site is so full of negativity it is painful at the moment. There is so much to look forward for the first time since sir alex left yet we are told that it is all doom and gloom. Supporting united means supporting everybody connected with it. That also includes Jose.

05 Jun 2018 11:41:17
Mort
But not all the players?

05 Jun 2018 11:54:34
Park
And a certain section think he can do no wrong and it is everyone else's fault.
It's not Joseunited.

05 Jun 2018 12:09:29
Both Fred and Dalot could be very good signings. As yet they haven't kicked a ball for us so let's stop judging whether they are good signings yet.

Fred is highly rated, and could be a great signing. However, he comes from a poor league and it could take time for him to settle. Time which you don't get at our club. We also have a poor record with Brazilian midfielders such as Kleberson and Anderson. So it could go either way.

Dalot, is one of those signings we all used to get excited for during the Sir Alex years. A young hungry player who Sir Alex could mould into a superstar. However, recently very few of those signings have worked out. Plus Mourinho doesn't have the best record with young players. He might come in and be a revelation and take the league by storm, or he might be the next Valera.

So let's wait before we judge. And not build up or knock down these new players.

05 Jun 2018 12:16:16
Shaps it's a good post that .

Reading the post above all stand asks
Is
"What do you know about Dalot to know it’s a good start"

I think that's a fair question, surprised how quickly people have jumped on his back and taken that as a negative Jose comment .

05 Jun 2018 12:22:52
Jred true some people can’t see jose’s Faults. Too many people on one extreme or the other.

05 Jun 2018 12:27:27
jred, What does Stand know about Dalot to question it isnt?
Do the "Happier Lot" have to seek permission from the "Unhappy Lot" to say what they feel about the players or the manager? Why are they shot down at each possible point? I have joined this page recently and almost on the verge of leaving. I get up in the morning and come on here to see if there is some activity/ news and all i get is "Jose's Fault". Its ridiculous. And before someone comes on and says it is what this page is all about and won't be fun without it and such philosophical thoughts, its our opinion as well and we do not need anyones inputs on that.

05 Jun 2018 12:32:22
True jred, I thought the same, stands question was a fair question.

05 Jun 2018 12:44:04
United
Did he say it wasn't a good start?

People seem very quick to jump on a poster who doesn't follow the script.

05 Jun 2018 12:48:41
Also to be fair it the "pro jose" people that have again turned it in to a Jose thread .
It's seems some take any post as anti Jose and get upset.

05 Jun 2018 12:50:09
Jred I support every player that crosses that touchline that wears a red shirt. Admitting that some players are not good enough is a different matter. The same with admitting that some managers are not good enough. Whilst they are at the club they have support. That doesn't mean we can't question they're contributions or say that they should leave. But in recent weeks this site has become very toxic. And this is a very small cross section of the fanbase. Ed2 was right about the toxics.

Last season wasn't great no one disagrees. Jose has question marks. No one disagrees. But its a new season, new signings, hopefully some departures of those who aren't good enough. Can we have some positivity because if this continues there will be a few people quoting this site.

05 Jun 2018 12:59:38
Mort
"hopefully some departures of those who aren't good enough"

That will be players that YOU think aren't good enough .
And that's not toxic? that's different than a toxic fan who wants rid of a player or manager you like because?

05 Jun 2018 13:01:31
United addict it's not going to change any time soon,
So if we buy a new player no one knows nothing about, we are all supposed to say, yes this is great,
Can we have an opinion or debate about a player or have we to say,
Oh he is some player.
I don't mind Jose fans or anti Jose fans, it's all about opinion
For me say what you feel, we don't all have to be yes men.

05 Jun 2018 13:23:41
The players, look at pogba big transfer fee, big wages, big money gone to his agent, plenty of games he has played, the only game that stands out is half a game against city,
But we can't say anything wrong about the golden boy,
But we can all critise the likes of fellani, I'd rather keep fellani and sell pogba for a big transfer fee.
Call me toxic. Pogba is a big flop.

05 Jun 2018 13:28:35
jred i'm afraid all of your points about Schmeichel are wrong, we signed him in 91 from Brondby where he had had domestic success but had not won the euros (92) and he had had a semi final run in the Uefa cup, being voted 10th best goalkeeper in the world. So although his stock was rising he was still very much an unknown for most people outside of Denmark.

05 Jun 2018 13:58:09
Rui Faria moving on was the good start. i say a good start but it is more unknown. hoping Kieran McKenna and Michael Carrick bring a more positive philosophy.

Fred - behind the scenes this deal was done some time ago.

Dalot - this took everyone by surprise but again behind the scenes i would not be surprised if this was agreed in principle some time ago.

Bale - I am sure there was an agreement last year?

What i would like to know is who is DiMarzio's source? Javier Ribalta?

05 Jun 2018 13:56:45
Apparently Barca, Real etc are all interested in Dalot so he quite a coup if we do get him. He’s won lots of honours with Portuguese junior teams and a quick google search is very complimentary about him being a “modern” full back who is quick, defends but also outs in a decent cross.

05 Jun 2018 14:37:16
Striker
My mistake I thought we signed him after the euros not before.

05 Jun 2018 15:19:56
Nonsense we signed him in 91. Some posters are very quick to jump on some that don't follow the script so make stuff up to back an argument.

05 Jun 2018 15:20:59
Good start for united by getting some business done early normally drags out for ages so for me brill start!

05 Jun 2018 15:35:52
Ken
Or someone just makes a genuine mistake and is big enough to hold his hands up afterwards.

05 Jun 2018 15:42:54
Are we interested in signing Clement Lenglet too? £30m buy-out clause, I'd say bargain?!

05 Jun 2018 16:09:37
I think we can all agree some players are not good enough. One of the biggest problems this last decade has been keeping players longer than necessary. Or are we supposed to have blind loyalty to players but declare open season on a manager 3 months into a season?

05 Jun 2018 16:19:44
That’s exactly the point mort. Some have blind loyalty to the players and you cannot say a bad word about them. But it’s target practice daily with Jose. Double standards.

05 Jun 2018 16:22:38
Mort
Maybe just support them.

05 Jun 2018 16:25:20
Forget Jose, forget toxic fans, rejoice for Ronnie has returned alive and well.

Welcome back Ronnie mate.

05 Jun 2018 16:38:23
As I've said twice today already I support any player the moment they step on the pitch in the red shirt. Doesn't mean we can't admit dome just aren't up to it for whatever reason be that talent or mentality. Maybe support the manager as well?

05 Jun 2018 17:52:15
I don't think any poster thinks that jose can do no wtong. Stupid thing to say. Name 1 poster who thinks he can do no wrong? Hyberbole gross exaggeration.

05 Jun 2018 22:55:03
What do you know about Dalot to say it’s a good signing. What’s wrong with that? I haven’t seen his name mentioned by a single poster before this, yet all of a sudden he’s a coup and a good signing. I’m asking what do people know about him to back up the point he’s a good signing?

Then posters moan were bashing Jose when he wasn’t even mentioned in the OP? You have to laugh. Jose hasn’t really improved us if were honest, miles off the title, miles off in Europe. Pogba so far flop, Sanchez so far flip, Bailly so far can't get a game, Lindelof so far poor, Miki moved on. All Jose signings. So why are people making out everything he touches turns to gold?

05 Jun 2018 23:20:35
True stand, they are the facts, but some will argue different though.

07 Jun 2018 06:45:29
Jesus, what a ridiculous thread, nobody can say anything without others jumping down their throats.

This site has unfortunately taken a bit if a wrong turn. I just hope after the summer that when the premier league is back we eventually start to play some better football, maybe the site will start to get better too.
