Seen that jred. Would be disastrous if that is the case. He is the only player who can link us from defence to attack. A midfield of McTominay matic and Fellaini/ Carrick is very uninspiring. Let’s see if it is true could be mind games from Jose.

I'm Pogba's biggest fan but even I have to admit he's been really poor since the Spurs defeat.

I feel almost stupid saying this but could it be a blessing in disguise?
Nah who am I kidding?!

On the other hand It may just allow Jose to pick his preferred formation of 4-2-3-1 safe in the knowledge that the two midfielders will hold their position and not vacate the midfield leaving us vulnerable to the counter attack.

If Pogba is injured I'd be tempted to play Carrick (big ask I know) next to Matic, with Martial left (if fit) Sanchez behind Lukaku and Mata on the right.

Carrick is positionally astute and very good on the ball. He's brilliant at feeding passes into the forwards and will bring calmness, maturity and experience . My worry is he's struggled in the past when pressed quickly and we might end up getting over run in midfield. I thought Mctominay struggled in midweek and maybe he just needs a break after a very encouraging start to his career.

I think without Pogba we can't really deploy a three man midfield and I'd rather see an extra attacker than Fellaini coming in to replace Pogba.

Mata came on last week and knitted things together nicely and with Martial and Sanchez supporting Lukaku with the security of two holding midfielders we could potentially see the best of our attacking quartet.

Liverpool will play their usual game pressing high so in theory our attackers should have more space if we can beat their press. If Carrick can thread balls into Sanchez and Lukaku we could be in business. Maybe?!

Just read Martial is out as well!

Even though pogba has been poor of late Danny, without him in the team there is nobody can pick the ball up from midfield and drive us forwards. Yes Carrick’s passing is very good and he can pick out a pass, but with him and matic there is a serious lack of legs and mobility. I would be tempted to put mata in at 10 if pogba is out as he is the only other person who can play the sort of passes pogba can. I’m very nervous for this game and hearing about pogba has made those nerves ten times worse! Let’s see what Jose has up his sleeve.

MEN reckon he's definitely out. For me Pogba has generally disappointed in these big games but there is nothing like his potential quality in any other midfielder to get hold of the ball and do something. Matic carras mctom possibly fellaini screams out as a flat and basic midfield, lacking pace and legs. Strangely enough matic would be the best out of those to take the ball forwards.

We should seriously consider going 3 at the back now as we have to go wide in this game.

Confidence levels are pretty low but that's often been when we've pulled out a result against that mob! Come on United.

Danny,

Good to read something afterwards that was clearly from a very knowledgable place, some of your posts on here are brilliant mate, you were right about the 4-2-3-1 without Pogba and Mata did the job you suggested he would.

GDS2

Thanks mate, so glad we won today but I'm worried about Tuesday night I think it's a really tricky game.
