Fellow Red sent me the link from the Daily Fail and it actually says to be announced next week after reading again so maybe jumped the gun there but I'm hoping it's immenent. The timing would make sense if the Fellaini to Galatasaray rumour is true.

My mate also follows Pilip De Brun on twitter who I've never heard of and and I'm not one to trust twitter myself. He's reporting Matic within days and Galatasaray offering 10 mil pds for Fellaini yet to be accepted. Seems extremely low to me.

Ed002 alluded to the fact that a deal for Matic could be possible. It makes sense since the other interest has waned from him and Chelsea have made him train alone.
Fellaini out Matic in is a great upgrade for our midfield!

I just read Chelsea are letting Matic come to us as a goodwill gesture on account of his help in winning them two titles in three years.
I call BS on this reason, he is surplus to requirements. Replace the word "Hazard" with "Matic" and do you think they would be applying the same "goodwill gesture"?

Debatable if bakayoko is a better player. He's good but not sure if he is as good as matic yet or will be. Good deal for us IMO.
Only going by what I've seen of bakayoko and never been overly impressed.

The lad hasn't even signed and the pitch forks are out. Explain to me how they've signed a "better" player? You'd rather a player who's 24 next month, has had one full season under his belt. (bit part player in his last few seasons) Over a player who's won the premier league twice in three years, knows what the manager wants, knows the league.
This is a very smart signing. Gives us great options in the middle and let's Herrera and Pogba off the leash. Really happy if we can get him in.

Bakayoko and Matic are very different players. I would say that with Kante they can afford a slightly more forward CM like Bakayoko but With mourinho seemingly wanting to allow Pogba to be that forward attacking midfielder then Matic fits our need.
Question is if The Wig leaves are we then after another CM?

Given the choice out of Bakayoko and Matic it's not joko I'd go for Yoko every day of the week. My view is people saying Matic is better either haven't watched much of Yoko, watched the games against Juventus only in the CL (where he had a face mask and was very poor to be fair) and didn't watch much of Matic last season. Or they use a totally different method of rating players to me which I don't understand.
Matic was supreme a few years ago, but don't let that mislead you is my advice. Again I hope to be proven wrong, but we are buying a 7/ 10 player with a chance he could drop lower if current trajectory is maintained. Chelsea have got a 8/ 10 player with the potential to be a 9 or even 10/ 10 player.
I try to take away the fact we are interested in or own a player when rating them, it helps keep you relatively honest as it's easy to be biased. I try doing it with betting as well, but that is very difficult indeed. Heart often rules head.

Beast, I don't disagree with you there but the other side to it is that if Mourinho gets the best out of Matic again he is easily a 9/ 10 player. And I have never seen Bakayoko play in the prem so wouldn't make assumptions based on 1 real season in Ligue 1.

If and when Matic signs, he now frees up Pog and Ander to do their thing and release the shackles a bit in our play. Excellent signing and one we've needed for years.

Ed i'm not so sure i think we are heading for a 442 particularly if ibra resigns. Diamond shape same as madrid in the last couple of months in spain and ucl final.
Matic deepest pog herrera and miki at 10. Backed up by carrick pereira mata and hopfully 1 more if fellaini leaves.
2 front spots coverd by ibra martial rash lukaku.

Just seen on the beeb it's meant to be in the region of £50m.
Tell me what you want for that midfielder you don't need and desperately wants to join us, now add £10-20m, do we have a deal? Oh and throw in some add-ons that we can pay you over time but won't reveal in the official figures, too many people laugh at us already for some reason.

People having an opinion on a player hardly means "the pitchforks are out" or the player is being "slated" or that the people saying it are "boo boys"
I'm not a matic fan. Would rather have signed someone else. Will I support him? Of course, he's now a united player and I sincerely hope he changes my opinion of him. No pitch forks or booing here, but it doesn't change the fact he's not my cup of tea. People are allowed a different opinion.
