Reports Madrid have turned down a bid for morata and are holding out for 80 mil.

Agree4 Disagree7

15 Jun 2017 14:47:17
If that's the case I'd say see ya and go look for a different striker.

How can they seriously ask for that much for someone who sits on their bench?!

15 Jun 2017 14:53:47
If that's the case and they come calling for dave the save. It's simple

We over price them as well. I can't stand Madrid.

15 Jun 2017 15:02:22
Bolger, I=if we follow the price for goalkeepers (Pickford 30 mil and Ederson 45 mil, there is no such thing as overpricing de Gea.

15 Jun 2017 15:18:09
Agree weggy walk away if there's any truth in 80 million we are trying to compete with real Madrid not finance their next superstar by buying there sub. Who else is going to give them anywhere near that, call there bluff and walk away or change target . I'd rather poke up Torino than real Madrid.

15 Jun 2017 15:24:54
The problem is we would be buying a player they don't particularly want and they would use the money to buy one the best young strikers in the world in Mbappe.

I'd rather pay an extra 30m and go for Mbappe instead.

15 Jun 2017 15:47:44
Weggy,

The problem with that is, that Mbappe doesn't want to come to United. You pay Monaco 200 Mil, Mbappe still wouldn't sign on the dotted line.

15 Jun 2017 16:44:33
Mbappe is so overrated one good season in france and there talking stupid money he's the same as martial but with confidence and playing in an easier league we need a number 9 Mbappe is similar to rashford, martial we need the finisher goal scourer! Morata'balotti, kane type player!

15 Jun 2017 17:30:18
If that's what Morata's price tag is get it paid and get him signed up, we can afford it, mourinho wants him and he wants to come. I would rather pay what they want than include de gea in any deal.

15 Jun 2017 18:09:20
Where does it end though GDS? At some point we have to draw a line and refuse otherwise the 200million war chest will only end up buying 2 or 3 players instead of the rumoured 5 that we're after.

I get the impression Madrid are just being arsey because they can't get De Gea from us easily.

15 Jun 2017 18:19:09
I agree GDS it's all speculation anyway.

The problem we're facing is the player is under contract, from what I've read Madrid would like to keep him and he has no real desire to leave other than to play more regularly which can't be guaranteed at any top Club he joins anyway!

Madrid can name their price, try and get the best deal for their Club and negotiate from a position of strength.

If we don't want to pay the money we go elsewhere but your probably talking even more money for the likes of Lukaku or Belotti and are either of them much better anyway?

If we don't go for any of the above who are the alternatives?

Do we go with just Rashford and Martial?

For what it's worth I don't think we'll pay anywhere near £80m and the deal will get done around £60-65m.

We set the bar high when we shelled out over £60m for the relatively unknown Martial, we can't blame Madrid for trying to get the best deal for their player.

Danny IL try and offer a view as why a few struggle with morata price . What's causing his valuation people don't see it in his record, sub then 15 in two seasons at juventos then back to Madrid bench again, nobody saying he's a bad player . Is valuation because there's fierce competition for him forcing the price up, maybe but haven't heard much about that . Or finally is price seeming so high cause they don't want to sell, but they seem fairly keen to negotiate if that's the case, maybe they are only willing to negotiate because it's to good a deal for them not to . Personally I'd walk away explore other options and see if there stance changed a little if all interest went because of the price . Hopefully figures of 70 or 80 million is wild paper talk.

These fee's are getting beyond a joke. Maybe it is just me but if we need to splash the cash wouldn't it be better to go after a Lukaku, Snachez or Costa who have proven guaranteed goals in England?

15 Jun 2017 22:36:31
40 mil. Is a good price for him.
When clubs see us coming they put the price of a player up.

16 Jun 2017 00:06:41
I would want us to go in for Aubameyang. Seems his move to PSG has broken down. He's rapid, scores goals. sign him up!

16 Jun 2017 07:17:20
I would take Aubameyang all day long - especially now the SUN (! ) is reporting Morata is offered 350,000 quid a week -.

16 Jun 2017 09:14:26
With you here MAZE.

If we're going to over pay for a striker we might as well go for one we know is capable of doing it in the PL.

Signing Lukaku for 80m makes more sense than signing Morata for 80m.

16 Jun 2017 13:45:31
It all comes down to how badly they want to sell him and, to a lesser extent, how badly the player wants to leave. If, as Zidane maintains, they don't want to sell him - then I can see them holding out for silly money. If, as I suspect is the case, they're looking to use the money as part of a bid for another player, they will try and get as much money as possible but will not push too much on the price for fear of scaring us away (as we are one of the only clubs stupid enough to pay that kind of amount right now) .

I can see us signing him for around £65m - which is way too much considering his true value but not so bad when you consider how much players like Carrol and Pickford cost in the past.

Personally, if the price rises much higher than £65m, I'd like to see us turn our attention elsewhere. I still maintain that every player has a price - and so if we're going to spend an insane amount I'd rather we throw the money towards the very best strikers like Kane or Dybala.

Their clubs may say that they don't want to sell - but offer the right amount and eventually they will bite. The players may say they don't want to move - but if you offer them enough money they will change their tune.

For what it's worth (and before people start making this point), I hate that I find myself making this suggestion. There was a time when I believed that the reputation of the club and the prospect of playing for us was enough to attract the best players - but that time has gone and football has changed. We haven't been competitive at home or in Europe for four seasons now - so we need to bring in the right players to get the club back to the top. If that means spending - then so be it. At least we're spending money generated by the clubs success rather than being bankrolled by oil.
