Wow maze that is interesting as I have heard pretty much the opposite from within the club from what has always ben a very reliable source and he has told me that lvg will not be head coach next season and that José will be appointed before the European championships.
I am not disputing your info as there is rumour and counter rumour I'm just passing on what I have heard and my contact is on the coaching staff.

Just passing on what I got told Ken. I have no doubt a fan back lash will spell the end for LVG also.

Sorry maze I'm not doubting you I've just heard otherwise.
Great win for Leicester delighted for then.

If the Glazers are looking to sell in 2017, surely they would want the club to be as attractive as possible, even if superficially in the short term - thus getting a higher price.

Bringing in the quick fix of Mourinho would surely achieve this, as he does his usual blaze of glory then disappears elsewhere, rather than a declining asset under LVG.

However, can see your argument Maze.

Wouldn't any buyers have an idea of who they want as manager. Given the limited availability currently then it would make sense to keep an existing manager such as Jose or have one ready lined up.

Maze post was was interesting to read, however did the share price not fall significantly in recent months? Another season as we have had could significantly devalue the asset which would be catastrophic just before a potential sale. It makes more logical business sense appointing a top manager this summer, one they might reasonably expect will have an immediate and profound bounce impact. Like him or not, appoint a manager with Mourinho's pedigree and that may well see confidence in the club from a shareholder point of view increase and make the club more attractive to buyers.

Another point is whether the new buyers would be savvy enough with sufficient football knowledge to choose a new manager just after a purchase. Add to that we would have to ask who might be available next summer, Giggs apart and that takes us down a whole new route of pain. As above surely any new owner would prefer an established top manager already in place.

Finally we saw the upheaval of Gill and SAF leaving at the same time so I can't see the owners thinking it would be good for the club to change owners, chief exec, manager all at the same time, that would be turmoil. If they were selling in 2017 it makes more sense to change manager this summer and not have the extra upheaval in 2017. Plus you would think any prospective buyer would be concerned at such upheaval to their new shiny multi billion pound asset.

Maze's argument falls in line with that made by Ed002 some time ago, that a) the club has really been hoping to hold onto LVG until the end of his contract, and b) the Glazers were looking to sell in 2017.

The question an investor must now weigh is whether the new money in the Premier league has made it more egalitarian, and consequently automatic qualification by all the big 4 for the ECL less likely, especially given the increased wear and tear such qualification brings. It may well be that a smaller club is a better investment rather than forking out $2.5bn for United. The recent discussions that supposedly took place regarding automatic qualification for the top clubs bears witness to the fear that's going round the investors. They would much prefer something more like the American franchise system that would protect their investment by qualifying them as of right for the financial benefits of playing regularly in Europe.
