Has anyone seen Alan Shearer's comments about LVG?

I must admit I think he is right. He now has had nearly 18 months to shape this team how he wants it and realistically, the squad still isn't quite how he wants it after 3 windows and £250 million.

Shearer reckons that a bad result against Liverpool could get him in hot water.

I don't think that we are that close by any means, but it won't do him any favours.

Let's see how the next few weeks go, will we see more pace in attack and direct play?

I can accept boring football with results, but we aren't getting that many at the moment!

Considering shearer had one management job and did such a fantastic job I think we should listen

The last game was so disappointing to watch, I honestly can't see where he is going with this. The transfers, the fallouts with players, the boring style of football. I hope it all comes good. I know people say it's progressively eating better but after the Swansea game that's debatable!

It's getting so boring hearing this every day from every different news outlet or blog trying to get hits on their article. you'd think we're the only top side not playing well given the amount of flak directed at us from the media. meanwhile we're ahead of all the other 'top' teams apart from city.

Van Gaal is rebuilding a team that should have been fixed years ago, instead of evolving over time he's done it in 2 seasons with a massive influx and outgoing of players. Do you think that's easy? 2 players remain from the Moscow squad.

Look at all the money we have spent and we are still complaining about lack of options up front and a dodgy defence! That's because of the sheer amount of other changes we've had to make.

Ed002 said it will take us 3 windows to do this. we've had 2/3 and look pretty good so far. I would love nothing more than to see the swashbuckling attacking football we know united for but can we please stop the NOW NOW NOW attitude that makes our fans seem like spoilt little babies. 2 years in transition without a major trophy, most clubs wait way longer!

07 Sep 2015 22:33:35
We are not most clubs!

07 Sep 2015 23:27:36
It is so frustrating to read people finally realising what I have been saying for so long. LvG is destroying the club. We don't 'look pretty good so far' we are a disaster.

I will never forget the interview Fergie gave. He was posed the question 'What would happen if the club didn't win trophy for 5 years' and he simply responded with 'That will never happen to Manchester United'.

Well ha ha ha, look at us now. Fans need to wake up and stop supporting this crap. It isn't good enough considering the money spent.

08 Sep 2015 03:03:36
Well said Irishdevil. Exactly the tone of a spoilt little baby that cnk was saying.

@Teddyshez: and yet it's only been 2 seasons without a major trophy barring the community shield that Moyes won.

Can people please grow up and stop crying. Its not that bad as it has been made to look. Yes we are Manchester United but we have no birth right to just win something or the other every season. Mark my words, whatever happens this season, you will be thanking LVG in a few years time.

@shan United boy I am talking about now! The style of football, it's boring and right NOW it's not working. The team is young and has potential And I haven't heard anyone despute that so Get down off your super fan die hard high horse. I understand what he is trying to do and that's why I said I hope it works out but right now it doesn't look that way. Look what happened to Liverpool. Liverpool fans are still saying next year is our year!!

08 Sep 2015 12:31:44
LVG is clearly trying to change the clubs style from attack attack attack to a more measured style of keep ball and wear the opposition down.

I for one am not a fan of this style. I agree you should keep possession, but this obsession with it really dull and right now I am not thankful that we have LVG 'shan'.

No. 7,

It is so easy to remember the clubs style of 'attack, attack, attack' without realising that the last 3 years under Fergie were terrible and we didn't attack at all.

08 Sep 2015 13:51:18
Teddy mate you sound ridiculous! It's been 2 years since SAF and one disastrous season under Moyes where the team looked completely clueless and finished 7th. A year later we've revamped the whole core of our squad - bar a key defender and attacker - and we're back in the champions league. Hardly 5 years now is it?

Sure we have some issues going forward but on the whole the team looks miles better than under Moyes and with the current players and youth in our team it's only going to get better, especially when we make a few more additions. How you can call this situation a disaster is beyond me, especially as it seems the whole outcry is based on some more sideways passing! We don't have Rio vida evra scholes Giggs carrick Rooney Ronaldo to keep us spoilt anymore, we're building now. It is a 'process' no matter how much you're sick of van Gaal being forced to explain this situation

08 Sep 2015 15:38:59
@ Irish. For every "IF" there is a "but" You mentioned Liverpool, let me bring up Arsenal. I am quite sure that you like the way Arsenal play.
Remind me please, what have they won over the past decade. Its quite easy criticizing. We all know what SAF could do with that poor squad. LVG isn't SAF, and Moyes was certainly not in the same league as the mentioned 2. So let's just sit back and relax. Its not about me being a die hard. On the contrary its you being Fast and Furious over our playing style. And please now don't mention the amount of money spent. Sick of that comment already.
LVG is not Brendan Rodgers so please don't even compare the two. Whatever his style, this man has proven what he can achieve. Be it boring or swashbuckling, i would like to see United being champions under LVG once.

i don't think you said it was terrible at the time.
especially when we where winning the league by 11 points .
if that was terrible god only knows what you made of last season

08 Sep 2015 17:47:36
True, but that was not a vintage team. I really do miss the days of 2007-08 when we played with such swagger and attacking intent. That team was built around strong defensive foundations, ours isn't and that is going to hinder us going forwards.

De Gea is excellent as are the two fullbacks, but we lack a strong enough centre back pairing to play with a more care free attack.

Jred,

You find its not really a big problem the kind of football the team is playing when we are winning the title. I am more about the results first, performances 2nd, I never thought the performances were great in Fergie's last few seasons and I never said that, but we won the league so not much to complain about.

there is far more to it imo pal.
i said at the time our football wasnt great and that team wasnt as good as people thought. i still think it was fergys biggest achievement to be honest .

i think we played better under fergy than lvg and i also think our spending under fergy at yhe end was restricted

A lot of people defending LVG are missing the point. Firstly having watched united for over 30 years I don't demand "success". But if you have had 3,transfer windows and vast sums of money, the least you can expect is a balance. So if LVG plan was at this stage to have a bang average mid player at CB and a striking option of another bang average midfielder, he is on course. He falls out with players due to his sherr arrogance, which will be ignored if you are winning. That new keeper has been reserve for his last 2 clubs, the whole keeping fiasco is embarrassing regardless of who was at fault. He better put DDG back in on Saturday. As for strikers, if Rooney gets injured we are relyin on 2 young lads who are playing in prem for first time, they should be nurtured and eased in, not relied on! If and when Jones/Smalling get injured we have young McNair and Rojo who he tried to swap and has surprise surprise, fell out with him! We got in champs league last year so LVG did as he was asked. The football is as boring as I've ever seen at United, C- for me so far for LVG and the heat is definitely on.
