Personally I don't think he's worth the money being banded around. If we were serious he'd have been in weeks ago. We haggled a bit on Morgan and Darmian but still got the deals closed as we wanted the players.

Agree Imightbe. I'm certain LVG wanted Ramos or Hummels as first choice due to them being so comfortable on the ball. I don't believe we will pay up for Otamendi and will let City take him.

We may well have been in for him, it looked like we were in for him early in the window than this Ramos farce started.If you were Otamendi and a club basically wanted another player and made u a back up option then another team came in who would you choose. If city do sign him they look a very good bet for the league already. Not many of our squad would push for a place in that team apart from Darmian and Shaw at the moment. Think the rest of the top teams will be praying for Aguero to be sidelined for a long periods this season as that the looks like the only thing that can upset that side.

I've only heard people from the club deny were intersted in otamendi we never in for him. So this talk that we've been hijacked is paper talk.

From what I've heard from very reliable source is that United were willing to pay as much as City, but City offer was + Mangala, so Valencia accepted City and not United's. BUT to Otamendi would have chosen United. This is what I know. I'm just wondering why City are letting go Mangala, who just settled at the club and IMO yesterday he was outstanding against Chelsea.

Ziko mate, if we paid the buyout clause and otamendi was in favour of us, there is nothing the club could have done. I think we refused to pay the buy out amount and hence citeh got him. Only time will whether the move was good. Personally i'm always skeptical about defenders from la liga.But i would have loved him in the side instead of blind.

No, no, mate, City and United's offers were close to equal, but not close to his buyout clause. I think his buyout was something like €50m and the offers were about 40, just city's + Mangala (that's according to reports). And now a new twist appeared, Mangala doesn't want to go on loan or City won't let him go, so now the deal is in the air. I really hope United can manage to get him, but I'm 99% sure he'll end up at the other end.

Last year we passed on Mangala abad this year it looks like we ae passing on Ottamendi for valuation reasons.

Perhaps Stones is now a target. Better value for money than otamendi due to age/English.
Not the ready made solution everyone is craving for but probably a better bet for the medium/longer term. We can blow Chelsea out of the water financially on this one if the club want it to happen.
