Press reports this morning are saying the Dutchmeister is putting Jesse Lingard up for sale. Any thoughts? If it's true what message will that send to the lads in the Academy? JL would run for us till his lungs burst. I hope it's alltwaddle.e

I'd be fuming if we sold him! What is lvg playing at

04 Aug 2015 08:55:46
To Bristol City for around £2.5m apparantly, maybe the lad wants to go because he knows he won't get enough first team football chances at United.

04 Aug 2015 08:58:22
Would be a real shame. He always has done well when given a chance. would like him to go to mid table club to see if he can cut it.
Newcastle/Villa maybe

04 Aug 2015 09:22:59
Perhaps I'm miles off, but with LVG running around OT handing out flight tickets left right and centre like this, I can see a car crash coming. Wonder how Giggsy is taking all this?

04 Aug 2015 09:52:18
He's done well during pre-season games and loan spells in the Championship but maybe that's his level? If he's as good as some of you claim the list of clubs after him would be very different, surely?

04 Aug 2015 10:14:50
Giggs must be fuming

04 Aug 2015 10:17:48
Consider that he is 22 years old and in need of regular football to continue his progress. Then consider if he stays would he get ahead of Depay, Young, Januzaj or Pereira. On top of that we look like we are about to wrap up the signing of Pedro. Meaning he'll have 5 players ahead of him for one of only two available positions.

Januzaj and Pereira need game time, that would only be limited further by keeping Lingard. I will he sad to see him leave, he is a talented lad and one of our own. But the time has come for him to continue his career without us.

04 Aug 2015 10:20:59
I'd prefer not to let him go just yet but I would be quite surprised if Lingard made it to the first team at Old Trafford in his career.

04 Aug 2015 11:14:25
Share same thoughts as shappy. Good young player but at his age needs first team football every week and don't think prem top 4 will ever be his level realistically

04 Aug 2015 11:19:28
He's not at the required level or he'd be playing already. Time to let him go.

04 Aug 2015 11:55:31
It'd be a disgrace if Lingard leaves! He looked awesome start of last season and in pre-season! LVG what are you thinking?!

04 Aug 2015 12:50:12
Jaysus pep what are you talking about the lad has been here for years playedunder 3 mangers none of whom kept him in the team he has been on loan several times and not pulled up any trees. who would you like him in the team ahead of young? adman? Perriera ? Depay? Possibly Pedro? Or should we not bother with Pedro or depay? Whatisit you want exactly to keep him and never play him. totally clueless statements

04 Aug 2015 13:00:59
Given a choice of lingard or Pereira which would you keep and play?

04 Aug 2015 19:04:28
Periera , as he is class above lingArd and might even outclass januzaj in the next few years.

04 Aug 2015 19:22:01
There comes a point where you have to make a decision on a players career. It is fair to them as well. Lingard is 22, is he really going to be first choice and make it or even be second choice? Does he not deserve the chance to be first choice somewhere? Forgotten in this is that at some point we have to make room for the next generation, the Gribbens and then there is Pereira who I would keep above Lingard. Jesse didn't make it at the very highest level but I do feel he could be a premier league player but perhaps not top half. Wish him well if he goes, he would be another good player we have churned out but perhaps the next one will be a Giggs.

I mentioned Angel Gomes and apparently he is head and shoulders over his contemporaries, that is the level they have to be but they have to have it mentally and physically. Good luck Lingard wherever he goes

Keeping lingard on the bench or loaning him out would be useless.
There is still a possibility that we may sign bale/reus and that could further drop lingard in the pecking order.
I tend to feel that us United fans have a lot of our love for our players, and more than half of them feel gutted when an academy player or former first teamed leaves.
Evident with the cases of Rafael, welbeck and lingard. They are all very good players but not United quality.
You see Barca, Munich that's the quality we need.
And it gives some kind of happiness when you see the likes of shawcross, chester, Brady, mame diouf and others doing well in the PL; which is what separates us fans from the rest of PL.
There isn't a single player that LVG has released that has gone on to do wonders.
Still feel Evans, Hernandez, Lindegaard, Powell, Johnstone(loan), Wilson and Blackett and Valdes would leave depending upon whom we sign
