Not long ago 001 commented on Bale's possible departure this summer. I just wondered if he had changed his mind in light of Benitez's impending appointment?

{Ed001's Note - right now it is all up in the air, Perez changes his mind like the wind. The fans have turned on Bale though, so Madrid have accepted he can leave, it is just finding someone willing to pay the money that he would choose to join. Champions League teams only.}

With Depay signed up and the price being branded around do you think United will make a play for him 001? I personally think we will make a tentative pitch for him to test the water and see what happens.

{Ed001's Note - I think LVG has made the decision to take Depay instead. It really depends on if Woodward decides another statement signing is needed or not, plus what happens with Di Maria could change everything.}

Have you heard anything on Di Maria lately to suggest he could depart ed? Or are you just speaking in general terms? I must admit I am struggling to see how Depay will fit into our system at the minute.

{Ed001's Note - he is still not happy in Manchester, PSG would buy him if they can do so within the FFP ruling.}

Here's hoping the FFP sanctions become more lenient then. Au revior Angel.

I hope Di Maria is sold to be honest. I understand the issues he's had (house being broken into) but he just doesn't look interested. I think we will then go for another wide player but don't think we will be successful with bale. Would like to be proven wrong though! :-)

I hope he is sold too, I think with Depay on board and talks of another winger not sure what we do with him when young looks twice the player he is on both ends of the pitch. Then there is janusaj and nani also coming back. Frankly i prefer to nani than Di maria given his performance the last 4 months. Go ahead and throw abuse at me but that my view LOL.

If true that PSG or Bayern want him surely we should recoup most of the transfer cost but be prepared to lose some money and in return try and get one of Verrati, Marquinos, Muller or lewandowski.

Marquinos they might not be willing to let go but Verrati might be possibility also muller given his relationship with Van Gaal might be a possibility.

Let's face it during the most critical period of the season in that stretch against spurs, Liverpool, city, chelsea and everton he was deemed as a bench warmer and contributed nothing and in many ways Young was our stand out player and made the difference.

GCU - Di Maria is levels above Young in the attacking third even when he's playing poorly. Young just lumping in speculative crosses game after game and getting lucky to even have 4(?) assists seems to please fans and they label him as playing well. Baffling really and it just shows how low standards have got at United that Young is being talked about as one of our best players this season. Young is a squad player at best.

Prodigal

Young was miles better at everything. If Di Maria did not have his name on the back of his shirt and people did not know what he looked like, most would have said get that slug off the pitch.

He was so so so poor it is hard to describe. Bad passes, losing possession, poor crosses, wild shots from unscorable positions and never got past the defender, got pushed off the ball, dived, so not sure what the love fest is all about. HE WAS PURE SHIT and some will hang their hat on that he will come good next season which i do not believe so, he is not suited to pl.

We could have bought a winger for 8 mill and got the same sort of performances.

I think you are missing my point GCU. Despite how poor Di Maria has been, without him we would directly have 15 less goals. Young contributes barely anything in the final third except covering ground, whereas Di Maria can contribute 10 assists (the second most in the league) and 5(?) goals despite playing poorly and being on the bench half of the time. That is the sign of a great player and if he gets better, more technically proficient and aware players alongside him like Gundogan he will justify his price tag. Even now he still contributed more than Young in attack by a long way. None of our players are aware pass and move/fluid types of players that Di Maria thrives off except for Mata and they can't feed off each other because they are on opposite flanks. The Mata goal against Liverpool would be a frequent occurrence of we can get more of those players in this summer and Di Maria can get settled to stay.
If Di Maria had kept his early form up would have won the PFA player of the year award, strange how most people seem to forget his first few months at the club before the break in. In summary - as bad as Di Maria has been, he has still been better/more important than Young who shouldn't be starting for a club with our ambition and stature.
