Christian Vieri on Bein sports says he cannot understand how LVG managing one of the biggest clubs says he is not sure how good his team is/.
He thinks wrong thing to say and you must create a mentality that you are going to beat everyone even if the team is not great. Sounds like what Fergie used to do.

Not having a go at LVG but he does have a point.

I agree completey GCU. Cannot stress enough how much the managers personality and mentality can impact a squad. Xavi has stated that LVG used to humiliate him in front of others at training, he goes onto say this made him stronger as that's the type of character he is but would this work with someone like say Di Maria?

We won't anything under Van Gaal.

Don't really give a toss what some ex footballer has to say. I'm 1,000,000% positive, that anything that LVG says in public won't be what he is saying behind closed doors. Yes he has his methods, as do all managers. Some we will agree with, some we won't. Footballers are far too pampered these days, I have no problem with them getting a dressing down if they aren't performing, as long as they get praised when they do. From what I have seen from
LVG, he does say if he's not happy, but I have seen him praise the same players also when they have performed. Di Maria was a soft t**t, better off without him in the squad.

LvG isn't long term - the bad guy who clears out the dead wood, sorts out the structures/youth systems neglected for so long and puts down foundations for next manager (as he did at Bayern etc) Badically stop the rot and not let us decline into mediocrity.

As such, can't see us winning much - if anything - under him but that's not his job: it's the next manager who will be expected to win things, thus why next choice so important, just add a couple of select players, then win things.

Yes he's spent loads of money, but it was needed after lack of investment under SAF, who wrung the last bits of talent out of a decorating squad through sheer personality and determination.

Think people on here need to see the bigger picture: hopefully, in a few years time, we'll be a force again.

Jmb ,

So Xav has character and Di Maria is a bottler who never really wanted to be at the club and ran for an easy life in France the first chance he got

The point Bilko which again has went over your head, is that people are different and have to managed effeciently on a personal level as well as professional one.

JMB ,

Only you could turn what was praise for Van Gall from one of the finest footballers of his generation into a negative with which to bash him once again . Didn't matter who was manager or if he was treated like royalty , Di Maria was still going the first chance he got

If you are bothered by what people say and get upset by it and run away or are reduced to a blubbering wreck then perhaps professional footballer isn't the right profession for you.
