If this is true then it should highlight one major problem

Rumours yesterday suggested that Solskjaer had identified Wan Bissaka as the player he wanted. However, the rumour in the press was that Woodward wants to buy 28 year old Kieran Trippier instead. Let's see what happens.

Imagine Tottenham buying Wan Bissaka whilst we fund it by buying Trippier.

AWB is of interest, I don’t think Trippier is.

Red man, you know better than anyone on here not to trust the press.

We all know the problems within our club. But this post seems like a cheap shot that is certainly below you.

Also we have been told that AWB is of interest, while Tripper isn't. Which means your more likely to face backlash on this post if we do indeed sign AWB.

Come on mate, your better than this.

The reports goes on to say that woodward basically wants to buy the england team that did ‘well’ at the last world cup.

If by ‘well’ you mean having less shots on target than saudi arabia and mainly parking the bus and relying on set pieces.

If the report had any validity it would confirm woodwards lack of knowledge in this area but i highly doubt it is accurate.

We are in quite a state and the media know any negative stories (true or not) will gain traction with our rather hysterical fanbase (myself included) .

As much as Bissaka would be the better buy maybe they are looking more for now than the future.

Luket, We haven't got a sqaud good enough for now. Signing players over the age of 27 is pointless at this stage. They will be on the decline by the time the rest of the squad are reaching their peak and would therefore need replacing before we can seriously compete. Paying high wages and big fees for players supposedly at their peak has got us into this mess.

We need to return to a transfer policy that has worked for us in the past, best young talent. End of.

would ole continue as the manager if he was getting told which players to buy?

i understand there's a list of players and if you can't get player A you go for player B and so on.

Unsubstantiated tat from dubious media source, used to back up poster's narrative. Shock, horror!

24 Apr 2019 10:37:45
But Shappy given that logic, do we then really need to buy a RB? We have a young talented RB in Dalot. If we buy Wan Bissaka, where does that leave Dalot? WB would obviously be first choice for a while and that will surely, how do you say it, "stump the progress" of a young talented RB. wouldn't Trippier (not saying that we are in for him or he will come) be a more stabilizing option, with a lethal freekick on him and someone who can deliver balls into the box, while Dalot progresses. He can give us 2-3 years of service.

United Addict,

We don't really know Dalot's best position. He has played very well on the wing.

Potentially Wan Bissaka at RB and Dalot as a RW. I'd be happy with that.

Also read what ED001 wrote about Bissaka aswell. I'm very surprised he has t had an England call up yet. Trippers has been awful this season.

United Addict, Dalot has huge potential. He can play very well at LB as well as RB. He has played very well on the wing as well.

My personal preference would be to go for a 26-27 year old RB. However, there aren't many in that age bracket who are good enough. Muiner being the obvious choice if available.

Wan-Bissaka is a home grown alternative who can play as a RB, RWB, RW and RCB in a three man defence. In time he could even play as a CB in a flat back four.

There are loads of good reasons why we should try and sign him.

24 Apr 2019 11:29:10
Heaven forbid that we have two great right backs competing for the same starting spot whilst also providing cover for rotation over a long season. Honestly. What would we do next? buy a CB that can defend? Its just too much.

24 Apr 2019 11:38:59
UA we are already in this mess because of poor purchases. Trippier is not going to help.
Ideally we need 4 good fullbacks because this position will drain the players if we play high intensity football next season.

Dalot can cover both left and right fullback spots. We have struggled badly when Shaw is injured/ suspended. So 3 fullbacks fighting for 2 spots will provide good competition, will keep them on their toes and bring the best out of them.

I posted a rumour, last time I looked that is what the site is about and didn’t realise it had to have approval

As for Noucamps comment re “dubious media used to back up poster's narrative. Shock”. So Stevie, you think I was having a go at Ole? No, I was pointing out that Woodward was allegedly preferring a player over one our manager wanted and in this case I would agree with our manager. But hey using a post to back up your narrative is ok, even if you get it wrong, again. Unless you think Woodwards transfer dealings are not an issue.

{Ed002's Note - OGS did not identify AWB. EW does not pick players.}

24 Apr 2019 19:00:41
Thanks Ed, I think the rumour wasn’t that OGS identified AWB but preferred him, I used the wrong word in the OP. Still whatever the drivers behind player purchases are, it needs to improve and if OGS will have little say we can only hope someone can get the right player.
