Brilliant interview on the BBC with Van Gaal regarding his time at United, that's two former managers critcising the board and the structure of the club. The miserable search for a DOF still goes on, also says "Unfortunately, we are talking about a commercial club, not a football club", couldn't be more right.

I came to post the exact same thing scholes. Ill add an extra interesting bit.

"At the moment there is a structure with a scouting division and above that is someone at Woodward's right hand. The structure is not so bad but the right hand has to be a technical director with a football view, not somebody with a banker's role, " Van Gaal says.

"Unfortunately, we are talking about a commercial club, not a football club. I spoke to Ferguson about this and in his last years, he also had problems with it. "

The Ferguson bit was interesting.

Not surprised with the amount of players we missed out on under Ferguson, team just got worse from when Ronaldo and Tevez left in 2009, then replaced Rio and Vidic with Smalling and Jones, went from a front four of Rooney Ronaldo Tevez Berbatov to Rooney Welbeck Chicharito and Owen. Cleverley replaced Scholes, no-one really replaced Carrick till Matic came in.

Scholes, your summary of the changes really tells the story. Major drop off from back to front.

He got a nice little dig in at Scholes, funny man, . MIke smalling cracked me up, still laugh at it today.

And that wasn't even half of it Zidaniel, team gradually got a lot worse, world class players replaced with okay and poor players and it's finally caught up with us. De Gea is the only world class player in this team IMO.

Van Gaal is spot on about the current situation.

Was an interesting interview but he lost me at the point where he said he played attacking football. Then went on to add that we had quite a few over 30 year old players which he discussed at his 1st meeting yet he brought in Bastian at 31?
Also said Rooney was meant to play no.10 role but RvP was no longer fit to the EPL? So he had no choice than to play Rooney up top? Why then did he sign Falcao and let Chicharito leave?

Talking about qualifying for the CL in his 1st season and winning FA cup in his second, leaving out that he FAILED to make top 4 in that season. Failed to advance from the group stages of the CL, a group of Wolfsburg, PSV and CSKA.

Sorry for the Rant but his interview could not erase the memory of him constantly sitting unperturbed in the dugout; couldn't be bothered to stand up and even make a gesture or show any emotion.

Does a manager need to show emotion? I'd rather have someone sat there doing sodoku rather than cheerleading, hugging players and celebrating draws against the mighty baggies.

The wider point is he is right the structure at the club is rubbish and we are held back by the Florida pixies and the yes man bean counter. The last four managers haven't been sufficiently backed and what money has been spent has largely been wasted. How many of todays squad would make the Moscow 18?

Mort emotion doesn't necessarily mean positive, could also be getting angry, throwing a fit and reminding the players and even officials he is there. So a blend of the two would be excellent.

As for the Moscow 18, I am sure some will get in ahead of Brown, Anderson, Fletcher, Silvestre.
