Now we will see just how good Solskjaer is as a manager, Palace are in good form. While we will be without Matic, Herrera, Mata, Lingard, Martial and Rashford.

That's all three of our starting forward line and two thirds of our midfield all out. Personally I think the higher intensity the side is playing at is likely the blame for these injuries, which is annoying but a part of what is necessary to bring back a quicker tempo and faster style of play.

How we line up will be interesting, how Ole attempts to get the result will also be interesting. Does he crowbar players in out of position, does he come up with a different way of playing that suits the players he has available or does he give the kids a chance?

This is a new challenge for Ole and it will be interesting to see how he handles it.

I'm not sure what any manager could do with that many players out Shappy. 5 of the 6 players you mentioned are guaranteed starters. It's going to be a massive struggle as it would for any manager.

Remember against Arsenal under Fergie when most of our outfield players were defenders because of a heavy injury list. The Da Silva twins as wingers, O'Shea in midfield pulling the strings. Think we won 2-0.

Ole can also pull of an interesting tactic during this trying time.

It's going to be tough, make no mistake. But it will be interesting to see if he can adapt and get a result.

He will have a midfield of Pogba, McTominay and Fred or Andreas Pereira, while Lukaku and Sanchez will still be available up front.

He will have to bring in a couple of kids, maybe Chong and Greenwood if he is over his knock Gomes if not. Garner probably as well in midfield.

There are still some good players left, they just don't suit the style and tactics Ole has used so far. So can he adapt those tactics and get the best out of some very good players, or at least some very expensive ones.

The one thing that is a positive is that in the last 2 games Utd have defended very well and that is against the attack of Chelsea and Liverpool. Thus we need more of the same and hopefully we still have enough to create something!

Shappy - What team/ formation would you play presuming Rashford, Martial, Lingard, Mata, Herrera and Matic are all out injured?

Would be interested to get your opinion pal?

25 Feb 2019 17:50:55
You didn't ask me dlib but ill tell you anyway😂😂

Im not one for changing formation due to 1 or 2 injuries but when over half the team out and when i look at what we have available then i'd look to change the formation to 3 at the back
352
Ddg
Bailly smalling lindelof
Dalot periera mctom pogba shaw
Lukaku sanchez

If ole chooses to play 433
Dalot smalling lindelof shaw
Periera mctom pogba
Lukaku sanchez young

That is assuming all 6 you mentioned being unavailable.

Ken - I'm interested to know everyone's opinion so thank you.

I'd be tempted to go with three at the back.

In midfield I'd give Fred an opportunity holding next to Mctominay with Pogba allowed to get forward in support of Sanchez and Lukaku. I'm not convinced by Pereira.

I'd go with 3-5-2

De Gea
Young
Bailly
Smalling
Lindelof
Shaw
Mctominay
Fred
Pogba
Sanchez
Lukaku.

Im not a big pierira fan he has lots to prove. But so too has fred. Both are not up to speed yet neither would get into most epl midfields but that's the squad available so he has to find a solution.

25 Feb 2019 18:47:39
DLIB I'd agree with that but would like to see dalot get a run.

Plus, it's an interesting one for fred. This should be the opportune time to get a run in the team.

25 Feb 2019 18:56:00
I agree Ken, toss of a coin really. My only reasoning being Pereira's had a chance and surely Fred has something to offer could this be his chance?!

Angel, I couldn't argue with Dalot, he's done nothing wrong but I actually think we may need Young's experience with so many changes for this one.

25 Feb 2019 19:01:22
For me the biggest concern is that all our forwards who are out injured are those with movement and pace.

Playing Lukaku and Sanchez up front means we will have a very pedestrian forward line.

Normally I'm a huge fan of the three at the back system. However, that only works when you have great movement and pace up front due to you losing an extra body in the final third.

I would stick to a 442 diamond, or 433.

DDG, Dalot, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw, McTominay, Fred, Pogba, Lukaku and Greenwood if fit, if not then Chong.

Dalot will add more thrust in the final third from full back than Young. Greenwood could replace Rashford's pace and movement.

Sanchez wouldn't get a game for me. He just doesn't do enough without loads of support, something we can't offer at them moment with so many forwards out injured.

25 Feb 2019 19:19:51
Shappy - Yeah I can understand you're thoughts on Sanchez but I'm convinced we'll see a different player if he's played centrally. Maybe it's wishful thinking but I'd like him to get a start though the middle to satisfy my own curiosity if nothing else.

His first touch is usually sound and he actually holds the ball up pretty well considering his size. His low centre of gravity means he can twist and turn out of tight situations and he has a decent leap which makes him deceptively good in the air. He's still relatively mobile and has decent acceleration over the first few couple of yards. I still think he's dangerous in and around the box. When he's played wide left he's too deep and becomes ineffective.

He's another that needs to step up and take his chance.

25 Feb 2019 20:12:55
Id pretty much go the same as shappy, ken and dlib. i'd like to see garner, Chong, greenwood and comes in the 18.

25 Feb 2019 21:37:23
Could one of the central defenders push forward into a central defence midfield role?

25 Feb 2019 22:05:56
There's only lindelf who's good enough on the ball but he'd be better in defence because who you replacing him with.

26 Feb 2019 06:07:49
Agree with DLIB regarding Sanchez.
He should play in centrally with Lukaku and Greenwood as the split strikers.
Sanchez still has good vision to make those quality passes in the final third.
Midfield 3 of Pogba, Fred and Mctominay with Pereira and Garner as cover.
No change in the back 4.
Chong and Gomez to call from the bench.
