Looking back, and i know hindsight is 20/ 20, but how much more sense did it make to not go in for sanchez last january and wait till the summer and buy mahrez as i am pretty sure city wouldn't have signed both with all the other options they had.

That way we would have not stunted martials development on the left and would have solved our issues on the right which would us way less reliant on our left hand side when attacking.

How many posters would have accepted that scenario at the time?

{Ed004's Note - Tbf Mahrez has done very little at City and when he does play he looks a tear below his competitors for that spot. I think if we had signed him we would still have been questioning that signing. Bernardo Silva... now theres a cracking wee player}

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a huge mahrez fan DSG. A little nani like great highs but too many average games. Been 3 seasons since he has been on fire.

But obviously in hindsight sanchez has proved to be a poor deal.
Ole has options he has to figure it out. Players have to be accounted for. Spending lots of money doesn't guarantee you a good squad if its spent on the wrong players.
Ole just has to make what he can with the squad. He took over a squad in dissary and has worked wonders.
The players and ole will learn more from the defeat than the previous 10 wins and draw.
He is still on trial and i'm sure he will be working on finding the right combinations to get us through the next few weeks.
The limitations of the squad has been laid out for all to see.

Mahrez is predictable. Often cuts in from right to take a shot. He also does not have elite level pace.

Maybe Lozano or Douglas Costa in the summer to fill the RW spot.

1 loss in 12 and its all people want to talk about .
25 points out of 27 that's the yardstick so far .

Everyone knows the glaring deficiencies in the squad.
Playing against an elite team made it visible.
Therefore the posters are giving ideas to close that gap in quality.
Nothing wrong in it.

Confused jred, what is it that all people want to talk about?

Mahrez?
Sanchez?
How ole is going to cope with 2 of his front 3 injured?
How well ole is doing?
How he will have ro figure out a new front 3 combination with 2 of his 1st choice missing?

Please enlighten us as to what the only thing people want to talk about is?
Or did you just get out of the wring side of the bed this morning again😂😂😂.

Really by getting 25 points out of 27 or by getting beat in 1 game .
😉 i know what your reply w8ll be so don't bother we both know your were talking about thr psg game .

16 Feb 2019 13:09:12
Not at all jred. I never once slated ole for the psg game in fact i was one who posted no point over reacting. It was no surprise.
The squad is light every single poster on here agrees but you. Every pundit says it. But you have a different opinion you think we have a great squad. Your like the little boy in seasame street doing his own thing. Or an ostrich with his head in the sand.
Then on the other hand you say jose didn't make one good signing for tbe club yet 7 or 8 of them are in the squad you think is great.
I don't think anybody is sure which jred posts jred heyckle or jred hyde.
Nobody mentioned psg in this thread you are just as usual a little grumpy and looking for a fight.
Our squad is weak. Not only that when ole came it was in dissary he has worked wonders. But he can only do so much we will be exposed against the better teams most of the time because our players are not good enough. Especially after our first 14 or so.

You said jose didn't get one signing right for this club.
You don't want the players he signed here. You never did but nobody else is allowed have an opinion of their own.
Really? Like seriously really?
😂😂😂😂😂.

There's overreaction alright but it's not coming from the majority of posters on here.

I think it's mutually agreed across the board between fans, pundits, experts etc that are squad is limited in many places and we are still a few signings away from really competing.

What ole has achieved in such a short time is nothing short of remarkable.

But I do think the PSG game did show some of our limitations as soon as martial and Jesse went off. That's okay, PSG are just a better team. And hopefully in a few windows we have more options available too.

I am enjoying the fact that we just seem to want to play more attacking football now too. Great to watch and 2 great games coming up.

Exactly angel.
Ole has done a great job so far. No complaints from the vast majority.
The club imo rightly decided not to buy in jan. Ole will to all he can. He has everyone pulling in the same direction. He has players that some fans me included were unhappy with playing better. He has players fans have said were not right for this club and should never have been bought playing better.
Changes will be made in the summer with a view to elevating the swuad from a top 6 team to a top team. It remains to be seen who will make those changes and who will be our manager. Until then all we can do as fans is get behind the manager and players we have, and ole can do as manager is get the best out of what he has. For me he has done exactly that.
Even missing lingard and martial tomorrow i go into this game with confidence. Chelsea are no PSG so we have enough to win this game.
