Something Pogba said today about you can't help but learn training with the likes of Buffon, Chielini, Pirlo and it made me think, Pogba is fairly young and still learning, who is he learning off in training at United, certainly not players of the ilk of Pirlo and Bonnuci, maybe it's not so surprising he's so inconsistent, we all expect him to be this ready made world class star, but being around better players make you better. Maybe we expected to much of him and maybe he's not developed as much as we want because of the level he's playing with? Just a thought, could be talking absolute nonsense of course, I often do.

Agree9 Disagree1

He should learning from the coaching staff. I mean Carrick is one of the best midfield players in the EPL over the last decade in terms of positioning, setting tempo, and general tactical reading of the game. The majority of Pogba’s issues are to do with poor decision making, Carrick should be ideal to help him with this, but there isn’t much evidence of him learning from his mistakes.

Mata? Sanchez? Carrick? There are 3 examples of players in in their prime was on the same level if not a higher level than Pirlo, Bonucci and co.

Personally I think Pogba is an excuse machine and the sooner he’s moved on the better. Nothing will ever be his fault.

Besides what is he? 25? 26? He should be enjoying the best football of his career yet it’s always someone else holding him back.

First it was playing too deep, then it was mata taking up his position, then Sanchez, then Mou and now he doesn’t have stars to learn from? Give me a break.

Moon, you criticise him as if he said he doesn't have that kind of player to learn from. It's only the opinion of WRD.

Mata and Sanchez on same level as pirlo? Do me a favour.

Moon crazy talk pirlo was one of the best of his generation.

Cheers for the replies, yes was just a thought that crossed my mind, I’ve not been pogbas biggest fan if I am honest and yes Carrick, Sanchez, DDG top drawer players or maybe it’s just the timing of him being here, us in this seemingly eternal state of rebuild, I guess we expect him to be our star when he was one of many at Juventus I think is what I was trying to say. Not even saying I’m right or J even agree with my own statement, just a thought.

My view is that Pogba sought to leave Juve because he wanted to be recognised as a world class player, earning world class wages. He can’t be blamed for the price we paid, but him and his agent think he is a star player.

At Juve he had players that could cover for his limitations, and a system in which he didn’t have a lot of responsibility. Here, he is at a club in which he is expected to be one of the players driving the team, and he doesn’t have a world class defence covering for his mistakes. But he is ultimately responsible, it’s not down to a lack of world class players that causes Pogba to make mistakes, it’s poor decision making, poor concentration, and an unwillingness to develop his game. Playing alongside Pirlo doesn’t stop him blasting the ball over the bar from 30 yards, playing a ridiculous pass in his own half, or losing the player he’s marking. That’s all down to Paul.

Funny that, If you surf the archives in the days before sin ups you’d have seen me call for Pirlo at United who many called over the hill. Now he’s the GOAT is he?

Mata in his prime at Chelsea was arguably the best 10 in Europe. Sanchez has carried udinese and Arsenal. Carrick carrick doesn’t need an overview.

To say Mata or Sanchez aren’t on Pirlos level is laughable.

Either way pogba has made me fall out of love with United and football. FOR ME. Signing pog was a bigger mistake than appointing Moyes and you’ll all soon see why in years to come.

02 Nov 2018 16:49:27
Moon who called him the goat?
More crazy talk.
He us one of the best midfielders of his generation was my assessment so how does that xhange to goat within 2 posts.
Dont engage in hyberbole or gross exaggeration and mis quotes.
Makes you look churlish and childish.

He's 25, he's not a kid any more. This is the kind of excuse an employee would come up with when they aren't performing well. Pogba is responsible for Pogba.

If pogba is our scapegoat, Pirlo would get torn apart by the fans in our team. Possibly the laziest player I've seen.
