Question to all and especially the eds (although i realise the eds are busy)

Can someone give me the short version of what a DOF job role actually is. I. e. what they bring to tge recruitment side of things and how much of thatbtoke plays a part in signing a player - taking in to account cost, manager and board opinions on said player.

I genuinely don't know.

{Ed002's Note - Traditrionally they would be in overall control of all footballing activities and the people who would report to them would include the first team head coach, women's and youth team head coaches and the chief scout, who would have all of the scouting team report in to them. He would act as a buffer between the board amd the head coach/manager and would take overall charge of recruitment, and often any negotiations.}

Ed, you think VDS is a good choice as a DoF?

{Ed002's Note - Van Der Sar? No, he would be a particularly stupid choice - he has no relevant experience.}

That sounds like he's the man for us then. I imagine his appointment will be announced soon.

Thanks for the info Ed002.

I know you don't like hypothetical situations or "ifs" but I want to ask if you were to choose a DoF for Manchester United among the available options going forward, who do you think will be better in improving our footballing sphere (pun intended)?

{Ed002's Note - If by "available options" you mean those already at the club or unemployed, then I would propose Marcel Bout as the ideal candidate.}

He paid 15m for blind not a great reference.

15 m for an experienced, versatile player doesn’t seem like a bad deal in a world where Harry Maguire is being valued at 75 m.

Blinds thighs are worth £15M each.

Not to mention his tussled locks AJH. A snip at that price.
What would Blackmore's thighs be worth on today's market? Betty? Any estimates?

Thanks Ed002.
