Pog had a very good game yesterday, i'm a big fan of his but his comments post game are embarassing and i think he should have to answer for them i.e strip him of the captaincy. May seem harsh but the captain of a team, FIRST game of the season should not be picking arguments - that's not what a mature captain does.

Agree4 Disagree6

12 Aug 2018 20:50:05
I don't think he is captain more a case of he was captain for that game .
I think he was making a point to be honest, Jose has had plenty to say about him.

12 Aug 2018 21:07:54
Pogba did what Pogba always does.

12 Aug 2018 21:16:42
Watching him friday night though, wearing the armband after all the 'he wants out' stories i just thought its honna be another liverpool performance from him as he prob doesn't care

But he was brilliant, the player we have wanted every game.

Then he hoes and has a pop, he probably did owe jose a comment or 2 but i'd still have rather he kept shut and just played like that to shut everyone up.

12 Aug 2018 21:40:45
On Friday he worked of the ball, which is what he done for France and what he never done last year .
Maybe the penny dropped.

12 Aug 2018 21:21:31
He played okay, he wasn't startling. But it was his first proper run out since world cup final, so I don't think anyone was expecting startling.

12 Aug 2018 22:00:48
I think jred has a point. Why is it okay for the manager to come out to the media and slate a player yet that same player isn't allowed to suggest to the press that his relationship with that manager isn't as good as it could be?

If there is two sides to every argument then why shouldn't we hear both sides?

12 Aug 2018 22:04:17
I don't know but he probably had it in his head for the last few weeks. Barcelona
Can see him going 8n january.

12 Aug 2018 23:23:47
Leahy
Or he might have it in is head the manager doesn't want him.

13 Aug 2018 00:05:04
Or he may just realise the manager was right all along and all the pundits were right for a prolonged period he was not playing well he was sloppy he was not concentrated and was not working hard enough in attack or defence.
Sure they have had a row but its time to put it to bed for everyones sake.
I don't believe deschamps asked anything more from him than jose does really.
He should keep his head down now the window has closed and let his football do the talking if he excels and is succesful and still wants a move then adress it next summer.
Pogba proved in the summer he is at his best when he has a point to prove. Jose imo threw out the olive branch trusted him to start and made him captain and praised him publicly post match. I hope they both let it rest now and get on with their jobs.

13 Aug 2018 00:44:50
That too jred.

13 Aug 2018 04:01:08
Ken mourinho and Deschamps expect different things from pogba, for France pogba isn't their go to guy in attack he is the support cast, it's griezmann and mbappe who are the main players there. At utd when ever we look stuck the ball goes to pogba, he is expected to create chances. If you want a player to defend more you need to take the responsibility of being the creative force from him, sadly the 500k ji sung park has miserably failed to do the job he was bought for.

13 Aug 2018 05:05:39
Shappy, haven't you been criticizing the manager at every given chance, and more, precisely for this reason that he openly criticizes his player. So, come on now ne fair and criticize Pogba. Two wrongs don't make a right. We know by now you don't like Jose.

13 Aug 2018 07:30:41
United addict, your right Pogba shouldn't be saying these things in the press. He should look to his manager and follow his example. Oh wait he did.

That is one of the many reasons why I have criticized Jose for publicly slating the players. It creates a poor work environment and undermines trust between the manager and the players. Half our squad want out apparently, how much of that is down to the manager constantly throwing them under the bus is unclear but I'm sure it doesn't help.

You can't expect to constantly publicly slate a person and not expect a retort.

That sort of behaviour is very damaging to the dressing room as we can see. Furthermore there is no need for it, what does Jose expect to gain from it?

He has tried it at every club and it is clear that it doesn't work anymore. Maybe in the 80's and 90's you could have got away with it. Maybe even in the early 00's. But players have too much power and are too pampered and sensitive to act in such a way anymore.

Pogba shouldn't be speaking out publicly, however this whole situation was created by Jose and his poor man management.

Jose is twice Pogba's age, he should know better.

Paul shouldn't be speaking out like that, especially when he has just captained the side for the first time. However, like I said we have heard Jose's side of the argument, we should be allowed to hear Pogba's.

13 Aug 2018 08:07:33
So Martial and Pogba make half the team for you now Shappy? Even the great english media only name these two who want out "apparently".

Agree that Jose has called this upon himself and he should be careful. But i think this has worked on Shaw. Only 1 game isn't the true picture but let's hope he buckles dowm now.

13 Aug 2018 09:10:19
Depay, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Darmian, Rooney, Blind have all left or want to leave. All wanted to leave after being coached by Jose. Fellaini and Rashford have supposedly considered their futures at United under Jose. Pogba and Martial obviously are the ones that are talked about most atm.

So that's 10 players who have left or are/ have been rumoured to want to leave. I haven't included DDG as he was considering moving home rather than wanting to leave.

So I think 10 players is enough to constitute saying half a team.

{Ed002's Note - They did not leave because the did not want to be coached by Mr Mourinho. It is as ridiculous as saying Cristiano Ronaldo left because of Ferguson's coaching.}

13 Aug 2018 11:20:57
Shappy, to be fair most of those players were moved on because their performances were not good enough, or were deemed surplus to requirements. Depay was not ready for the step up, Schneiderlin looked a top player for Southampton but never came close to showing it for United. Schweinsteiger was an expensive and foolish signing at his age and stage of career. Darmain started well and went backwards. Blind was a useful squad player and wanted to leave for more first team football, and Rooney is coming to the end of his career and is simply no longer good enough for the EPL.
Fellaini and Mourinho clearly have a mutual respect, so no issue there. Rashford has lots of potential, but has not taken his chances on a regular basis, and has probably not deserved to start much more than he has.
That leaves Pogba and Martial. I think most agree that they have both flattered to deceive and have under performed. Jose may not have handles these issues particularly well, but most of Pogba's and Martials issues are, to a large extent, self inflicted.
Pogba looked a different player altogether at the world cup, but International football is very different to the EPL, so its not really comparing apples with apples.

13 Aug 2018 12:07:17
Shappy, i have been reading your posts for a while now and they have mostly come out as well thought out and reasonable (even though we don't agree on Jose), but this post of yours is simply THE MOST RIDICULOUS post. Ed02 has already replied and i would have used the exact same example. All of those players weren't good enough for United. Is Fellaini that good thay you are bringing him up in this discussion? Rashford played the most minutes for United last season, has he considered his future. If yes, then that has gone under the radar of the English media.

13 Aug 2018 12:37:44
All of those player left because they felt they weren't getting enough game time under Mourinho.

So therefore they were unhappy with an aspect of life at our club under Mourinho which was under Mourinho's control.

Some of them have moved on and played very well elsewhere, let's not pretend all the players Mourinho sells go on to flop elsewhere. In fact some go onto become top footballers, our first choice striker for instance.

Mourinho failed to get the best out of them. In many cases he didn't give them a chance and they went on to prove him wrong.

Its no surprise that it is the creative chance taking players Jose has a problem with. Also the biggest problem he has with them is their defensive work rate, which probably shouldn't be the bench mark for an offensive player.

Jose's style is to create a siege mentality, by to do that you need someone to fight with. Jose has a habit of looking for fight too close to home, which invariably leads to the players turning on him.

Look at how the players celebrated with Shaw last Friday after he scored. Does that look like the reaction of players who would back Jose's treatment of Shaw over the last two years or players who'll stand behind their teammate and be unhappy with the public blastings he has received.

The whole point of this thread was is Pogba in the right to come out and say what he did? The answer is no, but this is just Jose's chickens coming home to roost.

13 Aug 2018 13:21:44
Shaps, don't think too many would disagree with that. I just don't think the examples you gave quite fitted in with the reality of the situation - but I get where you are coming from. I certainly felt - and said - the same about the Luke Shaw goal celebration.

I just don't agree that the list of players you gave all left / will leave because of the way Jose has treated them.

Jose has certainly not got the best out of some of the players, and has not treated some of them very well.

But at some stage, some of these players need to be accountable for their own performances. To blame Jose for ALL of their shortcomings it just giving the players a free pass for their own poor performances.

13 Aug 2018 13:35:33
Nonsense shappy. For someine who used to be objectove your posts on jose don't carry any objectivity and are just biased and a load of clap trap. You're blinded by your dislike of the man.

13 Aug 2018 15:06:38
Shappy, your bias is shining through here big time. You usually have very sensible posts but that one above, challenged by ed002 is ridiculous.

Blaming Jose now for players wanting to leave because of his coaching, madness to be honest.

13 Aug 2018 17:29:31
Too much time in the uni bar shaps? 😂😂.

13 Aug 2018 17:55:15
Ridiculous posts. Utterly ridiculous. Jose sells those who were never good enough to play for our club bought by other managers and still gets it in the neck.

No wonder Ed02 calls our fans out as toxic. Absolutely and utterly ridiculoous.
