Here lads just cause Maguire headed a few balls against Panama doesn't mean that he's the second coming of Rio or anything.
By all means alderwerield needs to be our no1.
Mina is much younger than mcguire, is as good if not better in the air, don't forget he was behind umtiti and pique in barcas team, who was Maguire keeping out, huth and Morgan! (that's embellishment for comic effect but you hopefully should get my point) .

I don't think we were ever interested in mcguire, coincidence or not that Leicester is our first game?

Alderwerield is a goal keeper?

03 Aug 2018 13:30:59
Haha do u want me to cut up your meat for you too sport.

I'll take a guess that your English and rate mcguire.

03 Aug 2018 13:45:40
Since when did 18 months become much younger and since Maguire will not be available for the united game either way I don't see the coincidence.

03 Aug 2018 13:10:02
Maguire.

My apprentice is younger and taller than Maguire, but that doesn't make him a better footballer.

I'd rather go all out for Alderweireld, which I think will happen in the next 6 days at much less than the media are reporting.

03 Aug 2018 14:41:35
So what makes Maguire a better footballer than mina then? The fact that he's English?
Considering most English players do not enjoy stellar careers into their 30s predominantly based on their poor lifestyle in comparison with other countries.
I think 18 months makes quite a difference in this scenario, but let's call it 2 years anyways as mcguire is 25 and mina is 23 and since we don't usually go down to months when making a quick comparison on ages.
Oh and I said mina is as good as mcguire in the air, I didn't say he was taller, both 1.94 I believe.
I am very confident that yerray mina will have a better career than Maguire.
Jeez some of you boys need to take those blinkers off, first very good team you played in the world cup you got knocked out. Please don't make then assumption that there is many world class players in that team.

03 Aug 2018 14:43:47
Whether Maguire plays or not (I don't know whether he will or not tbf), do you not think that the rumours may have destabilised the club of Leicester?

{Ed0333's Note - Leicester was always gonna be a stepping stone for Arry. The richest club in the world dangles a carrot your gonna wanna bite no?

03 Aug 2018 15:38:39
Oh 100%, Maguire should jump at an offer from someone like us. I just don't think we were ever in for him as a top target.
For me he's another Gary cahill. He may go on to a big club and have a good career.
I just think it's a fallacy to see him as world class orb that he ever will be.

03 Aug 2018 16:37:06
But Mina is? A guy that has played 6 games for Barcelona and 4 in a World Cup and you have formulated that he’s far superior, get a grip man. Neither of them are particularly good anyway so your anti English posts are pretty pointless.

03 Aug 2018 16:43:51
Maguire will be done this summer .

03 Aug 2018 16:43:56
Out of mina and Maguire I would definitely take alderwiereld.

03 Aug 2018 17:16:46
Haha i'm not saying I would ideally want either mina or maguire.
I just think there is much more chance of mina turning out to be world class than there is for maguire, Maguire is purely rated cause he headed the ball a Couple of times against bad teams and he's English.
I would give the 50m for Toby, an actual world class cb.

{Ed0333's Note - if you guys get Toby I’ll be super surprised as he would have more stellar suitors than Everton but if you do pull it off what a coup that would be. Ashley out Toby in...fandabydozy

03 Aug 2018 17:36:49
Who is the Everton fan then?

03 Aug 2018 17:38:21
Not sure I follow too much of what yr saying in yr posts, stones scored the headers against Panama not Maguire, Maguire scored against Sweden, the only person who seems to be judging him on nationality is you, and the only person who has said anything about the second coming of Rio is you and implying longevity will be an issue because English players have a problem with lifestyle is pretty unfair on Maguire as he has nothing to do with players before him or players that are nothing to do with him . I hope we get Toby because he's the best of the options but I don't judge any of them by nationality.

03 Aug 2018 19:32:00
You English slate?

03 Aug 2018 19:39:45
Also didn't say anything about anyone scoring goals, just alluding that all maguire has done is 'aerially dominate' in a games against poor opposition.
He had a decent world cup in an England team that got found out as soon as they faced decent opposition.
You might remember that a lot bif England fans were querying Maguires selection in the England sqaus prior to the world cup and obviously even more so place in the first 11, now most seem to deem him good enough for our club. No just no and like it or not it's only English bias that this is based on.
Sorry its taking so long for the penny to drop.

03 Aug 2018 19:53:39
I'm Northern Irish, and I still think your generalisations are nonsense. Typical foreigners 😉.

03 Aug 2018 19:59:29
Ross
How much of mina have you actually seen?

03 Aug 2018 22:53:46
Yes Ross I am English, I get the idea you think England over rate themselves, I don't think many English people believe we are a fantastic football team full of great players, we just think we did well in the world cup and had a kind draw . England have a decent football team but aren't anywhere near world-beaters yet if that's what yr trying to stress most people know that . I'm not sure what yr judging mina on but if it's just the world cup then unfortunately for your hopes Maguire was better than him, if your basing it on something else and you have seen lots of mina then fair enough . Anyway hope we get Toby and I don't give a nic where he's from the same as most utd fans .

Thanks slate and jred, finally someone asking why I am convinced on Mina, I love football but especially South American football, I just find it a totally different game than the muck we see here at times.
I always watch the sudamericana and liberatoras (context) .
I've been very aware of mina since he was part of the santa fe team that won the copa sudamericana in 2015. He was awesome that year, he went to Palmerias which he again took in his stride and was part of a team that won the league, I think for the first time in ages, like 15 years or something. We all know what was the next step in his career.
So yes I'm not just being anti-English here, I actually have some basis for believing that Mina will go on to be one of the top cbs in world football.
Just my opinion but also I'm sorry if I rubbed people up the wrong way with my posts, I was also having a rubbishty day and that may have come across looking back ;-)
