Hi all,

What are people's thoughts on using a 3-5-2 formation next season?

We used it on pre-season last year, and for a few games early on if I recall. Seems it could be a good way of accommodating our players and allows us two strikers - Sanchez playing off Lukaku?

The midfield three picks it own, whilst a back three of Lindelof, Bailly and Smalling/ Jones or new CB could be really solid.

If rumours are true, even Willian might be able to fit in the RWB position?

I think we were going to play that if we signed perisic last summer.

If you wanted to get the pulses racing why not a 3-2-3-2.

Lindelof bailly rojo

Fred herrera

Sanchez pogba martial

Lukaku rashord.

That is pretty tasty schnauzer. But matic for herrera and a new signing for Rojo and we are good to go. But we would never see martial or Sanchez in those positions as defensively we would be pretty open.

Park- agreed its unlikely. Looks nice on paper but in reality I think it probably wouldn't work at all.

It's a nice split though you 5 defend you 5 attack its easy this managing lark.

I like the idea of 352 or 442 diamond, I think that those formations best suit the players we have in our squad.

Schnauzer, that line up I think is really unbalanced. You have four players who want to play as central strikers who will all drift in leaving massive gaps down the flanks. Couple that with no natural defensive midfielder who'll sit (both Fred and Herrera are better as roaming box to box players) .

Then when you look at the space out wide it is obvious that there will be loads of crosses coming into our box. Both Rojo and Lindelof have been suspect at winning high balls. Also I wouldn't say winning the ball in the air is a particular strength of Bailly's. So we would in my opinion concede many headed goals, while lacking enough creation and work rate up front to make up for that fact that we would have 4 players trying to play in the same space.

Pogba has also struggled when pushed into the No.10 position, he is a powerful runner from midfield who has excellent long range passing. Playing him that far forward negates both those qualities by making long range passing near impossible, and making him start his runs further up field limiting the chances of him getting into his stride before he is challenged.

Shappy, can't disagree the 3-2-3-2 would win nothing but would be fun, was said more in jest.

Being more serious I would love to get back to having 2 up top and and I agree 3-5-2 and 4-4-2diamond would suit what we currently have.

Ah the old WW. Personally I prefer the WM.
